A mature artist in his 40s would be proud to accomplish such a performance. Christian Li's interpretation is confident, inspiring, and virile. He projects music of nearly unbearable beauty, ably assisted by an exquisite violin on loan, thanks to the Menuhin Competition, and superb pianist, the esteemed Laurence Matheson. Bravo. AND every time I watch one of his videos, I go away feeling cheerful and optimistic. Christian's interpretations and sincerity make me feel good about the future of the human race. I watch in wonder as this young man played this piece yesterday in Harrogate as part of the international festival. What a talent and what a lovely young man. I wish him well in the future and I hope I shall have the privilege to see him perform live again. It was a truly amazing experience.
ive been watching a lot of his performances and i think what separates christian from other child prodigies is that it is evident he is enjoying what hes doing. im no musician myself but i can feel it they way he expresses his music, or the way he moves. im excited for all the great things you've yet to achieve.

OMG! That was incredibly beautiful! I am not at all familiar with Chaconne by Vitali, let alone Vitali, but there were parts where tears welled up... oh my Heart! This young fellow is an inspiration for all of us to be more than we have imagined.

I’ve been playing cello for like six years now, and I am not even at a quarter of his level, I just can’t believe this. And the vitali chaconne?! That’s like a high high school level, low college level piece, and he’s playing it at his age, which I’m not 100% sure, but i think he’s like 10-12? But anyway, omg

I’m studying this piece in my 9th year of playing, I’m 19. This has proven very challenging, especially those octaves! Hopefully my Interpretation will be just as extravagant as his was.

Shame about the echoey room. That aside Christian is one with the instrument and make it sing so beautifully. It’s hard to believe a young man has so much skill at his age. He is one of the most passionate violinists I have seen. He can hold his own amongst the great violinists of today. He is note perfect, with astonishing vibrato with total control of the instrument. We will be seeing a lot more of this young man.
oce I believe that instead of having something “in his mind”, he is transported elsewhere. If a musician plays with something “in his/her mind”, then that something actually gets in the way... I hope I’m making sense to you!

It isn’t just his technique, it’s his musicality. Technique can always improve whereas musicality is something that one is born with (or not), and can only be nurtured. Without musicality, even the greatest technician will never become a true artist!
