  • This show had Fishwife from San Diego opening followed by Crackerbash, then Drive Like Jehu and the SuperSuckers headlining (though they played with the lights out.
Here's the whole Drive Like Jehu set. I'm not the steadiest camera guy, but there's a more than a few gems in here. Look for the whole set from the night before at the X-Ray Cafe as well....

Thanks so much for posting this! I grabbed a beer, put on headphones and was transported to a house party in 1992 complete with annoyingly hilarious jocks being super into it. Such a great band and so awesome to see them in this era.

I saw DLJ in San Francisco in the summer of 1993, at the Cattle Club if I remember well. I did not know them before, I think I picked up a flyer or read about them in SF Weekly. The show was very intense, I still have good memories of the energy. A unique band, if you wish, with a very distinctive sound. Too bad they did not become huge, but who cares? Their music is still exciting.

crazy to think Nirvana was considered a punk break through when DLJ released their self titled in 1991.
I cannot believe they had “do you compute” locked and loaded in 19fuckin92.

I remember that night. I went to this party with Mick Mars and we were looking for babes. We got loaded on methamphetimemes on the way in the car with a windshield cover so the cops wouldnt see the lighter, parked a couple streets over. by the time we hit the party these dudes were playing and we were out of our minds. I had an eight ball of methamphetimemes still and a couple sheets of brown acid. I immediately was blown away by these dudes but Mick was like bro lets book, this is garbage and theres too many schlongs here. I told him, no way man im staying. He got mad cuz i had all the drugs and he caused a scene saying how he was a guitar god and how dare I. I saw him out the corner of my eye pull out his phone and call someone. I paid no attention but that would come back to haunt me forever. Mick Mars flipped me off on his way out the door and was smiling. THese guys killed it and after i went outside and was talking to this babe who said she wanted to eat me out and if i had any drugs, i said yeah for sure babe and thats when all these cops appeared and cheesed me. i quickly ate all the acid i had but couldn't do away with the meths in time and they got me. later i was trippin balls in a cell with all these big beefy dudes and i tried to make nice. I figured Mcdonalds, everyone loves Mcdonalds so i asked a big guy if he thought the guards might bring me a big mac and asked him if he had a favorite Mcdonalds food. He smiled a real big blalck toothed grin and said in Hulk HOgan voice, yeah, I love fresh fish fillet. The other dudes laughed menacingly. I was scared. They meant my butt and they took it soon after....all the while saying how much they love fresh fish fillet. I was trippin horribly. I was told i had a visitor the next day and when i limped out i saw my visitor was Mick Mars. I picked up the phone and he smiled and said I hope you like the guys i paid in your cell....no boby fucks me, nobody fucks Mars. and he started laughing. he goes Mars Out, and slammed the phone down. Im still tripping.

Well it was but it's an ineffable thing that can't be explained to young people.
I don't even try cause it's based on experience which just doesn't translate no matter how hard you try.
It was a whole time period that was special,a zeitgeist you might say.

it was just some random warehouse in Corvallis, not a city known for having shows/venues (at least back then), and there was literally no one checking anything at the door--like, teenagers walking in/out with 40ozs and shit. I don't even think there was a cover....
