    Thank you for very explicit instructions. I dance Ameeucan Smooth most of the time, but occasionally dance standard socially. I've always struggled with the tele spin and/it herl turns because my partner was not "putting me on my heels" described here. But he made me feel as though it was my deficiency..lol!

      Heel turns can definitely be difficult! Certainly the man needs a lot of practice leading the lady correctly into her heel turn. But also, always consider whether you may be bringing your heels together too soon, which is a very common mistake ladies make in their zeal to close their feet. This can also cause you to fall off your heel turns. Thank you for your comment and happy dancing! ❤

      I don't know your level, but a good idea to have when dancing partner dances is to always assume you are at fault, because unless you are a world champion you are probably making a mistake. Especially at lower levels, both partners are making lots of mistakes on every step. Having had lessons with some of the best ladies in the world, they make it very hard for you to mislead them, because they dance their own actions so strongly.

      @@timwendland4122 You are being biased to say that. No, it is not always the woman's fault. I ve been dancing ballroom for almost 20 years, 12 competing in Pro Am.
      I recently had a male instructor from Hungary tell me that the man, or Whoever is leading, is responsible for direction. Just because she may not be dancing it correctly, may be because the man is not leading it properly. I am a "strong " dancer, as you stated, but I dont overpower my lead. Telemark spins are challenging in the base case and take practice to execute smoothly, I have had several ballroom instructors and although most were well versed, not all know how to teach effectively.

      @@SharronHaimour-ko6jl I didn't say it is always the woman's fault, I said that the best way to improve is to always assume it is your fault. I dance professionally, even when I am dancing with my students, when they make a mistake I still look at my own dancing as even though my action is much better than theirs, there is probably something more I can be doing. Of course I still correct them, but I am continually looking at my own dancing anytime my partner makes a mistake.
      This advice was given to me by a world finalist.

    17:00 Lady, wait for the heel turn as long as possible... the man lead you to the feet close and the heel turn.

    • @SKDancesport
      @SKDancesport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      100%!!!!! Waiting until the turn is actually complete before closing the heels allows the lady to successfully close her feet EVERY time, unless the man leads her past her heel, in which case NOT closing the feet would be the correct thing to do! :)

    Great! what is the timing for the telespin?

    • @SKDancesport
      @SKDancesport  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In this particular version, we would time it as S Q Q&Q and follow with a Feather Finish timed Q Q Q. However, there are many options and variations for timing the Telespin. :-)

    The man's early rise, rise end of 1, instead of the normal "commence" to rise end of 1 in waltz, leads the lady onto her heel.

    • @SKDancesport
      @SKDancesport  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rise, at all, is not necessary to lead a lady into a heel turn. There are many instances in standard dancing where heel turns are danced without rise. But it is something we have heard taught many times, and is a common misconception. 😃

    The explanations are great! - but the background music is so annoying! you should remove that. Your segment is too long to have music like the whole time. If it was 3 min. maybe, but not for 20 min.

    • @SKDancesport
      @SKDancesport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the suggestion! this was one of our very first videos and we were still experimenting with different formats. we have since stopped adding the background music. :)
