"This is Jeff Gertzmann, the last survivor in San Fran, transmitting blind. The Others are at my door. If anyone can hear me... do you have any requests? I have an EXTENSIVE C64 collection, son!"
When I was five my pop introduced me to vidya games with the C64. We played Jawbreaker and Blue Max the most. I played Jumpman on tape drive at my cousin's house. Tape drive!
This is awesome. The home computers never get enough coverage on US gaming sites and podcasts and it's a real shame. There are some phenomenal games that were unavailable on the consoles and a lot of the time they got the best ports from the arcade. We definitely need more vids like this.
It's all of your favorite Giant Bomb West Coast! Except for Brad and Drew, who are busy. But don't worry, there's always Patri- er, Vin- er, Ale-... SHIT
Every time I see Jeff playing games alone, I think of the old Whiskey Media Happy Hour, specifically when he was on creeper cam and playing Galgun... Great days those were. Goddamn I miss Whiskey Media. And oh man... I remember when they had viewer call-ins and someone asked him, "What do you think of Megan's law?" as he was playing Galgun. Ryan just burst out laughing hysterically. Fuck, he is missed. I'm sorry y'all, bringing him up, just reminiscing here.
It was usually understood by game designers that the joystick should be in port 2 so you don't have to move the mouse out of port 1. But in cases where that's not true, it's port 1.
I had no idea that the music to IK+ was the theme to Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, a movie starring David Bowie and Takeshi Kitano (of Takeshi's Castle fame and Takeshi's Challenge infamy)
We need the Street Fighter 2 C64 version at EVO. Or at least as a mystery game pick for UFGT. 42:15 sick E.Honda cross-ups, and better collision detection than most Capcom games.
blade4u99 Sadly, he passed away about a year ago. Here's the podcast from the crew uniting after his passing. www.giantbomb.com/podcasts/giant-bombcast-07-09-2013/1600-530/
There will always be Jeff.
Jeff forever.
Do t forget the lighthouse, there'll always be a lighthouse :)
"This is Jeff Gertzmann, the last survivor in San Fran, transmitting blind. The Others are at my door. If anyone can hear me... do you have any requests? I have an EXTENSIVE C64 collection, son!"
And thus Jeff was the sole lonely survivor....
RIP Vinny, Brad, Drew and Dave.
Poor lonely Jeff. :(
A glimpse into the dark future of Giant Bomb.
Very true
Damn right. C64 forever. Amiga forever. I need O'Dwyer to move to Giantbomb from Gamespot.
Oh, man. Watching Jeff solo this makes it feel like he's the lone survivor of a horrible event.
The year is 2015. After the Giant Bombing, only one video games journalist(?) survived. His name was Jeff. This is his story...
Xeleer sounds like a summer blockbuster movie...
get Michael Bay to work on it.
Starring Shia Labeouf as Jeff Gerstmann, right...?
Xeleer definitely.
i can't see how that could go wrong.
it's Michael Bay, he has the ability to still turn absolute shit to profit.
I'd love to see Jeff writing the dialogue for Shia though. It would be much more authentic, y'know?

Oh god I love this video
Always a Jeff, always a Camera, always a Lightgun.

after the apocalypse, only one brave video game warrior remains in a wasteland of nuclear fallout amongst the bodies of fallen video content creators
Jeff wouldn't make it... His weird roommate/thing might though.
The fact that the cameras are still set up for the whole team and that the lights are just slightly dim make this seem even lonelier.
After 3 seconds, was already hitting Like.

Considering he thought swinging a Wii remote was exhausting work, I'm amazed he'd give C64 gaming a try. Lots of moving your arms is involved.

great commentary! heads up.
Don't be sorry, those are good memories. :)
This will be Giant Bomb in the year 2024, when everyone has left GB and Jeff is finally alone in his madness.
Could imagine Jeff crying when trying to get the right camera. "Vinny used to do all this shit "
god damn the intro to this show was the best
I need vinny vs jeff archon!
a lone jeff emerges
watching Jeff stream alone in the UPF room is strange
OH man! California Games was one of the first video game I ever owned that wasn't my brothes.
Jeff did not play Beach Head.
This is a failure on Jeffs part and i demand he remakes this video.
1:22:12 Best moment. I still haven't forgotten this game because of this XFD

Jump man is fuckin awesome!
God bless you Justin Calvert
nice to have a job playing video games...
Jeff didn't know how to play Paradroid till now? Absolute heresy.
Jumpman reminds me of Chuckie Egg, but less chickeny.
Less chickeny?... I don't play anything with less chicken.
Poultry in motion.

UFGT is no more! Think it turned into Counter Breaker?
please make more c64 streams :)
