People were pretty quick to criticize the Fenix 319's lack of ability to lose speed during approach, calling it 'unrealistic'. Turns out, that is just the character of the real airplane. Great review all around pal. :)
Lol there are so many keyboard pilots that are so quick to say something is wrong with an aircraft knowing damn well they have 0 hours logged in the type😂
The external modelling on these two new Aircraft is nothing short of stunning! The sounds are pretty amazing too by all accounts. Yet another master class from both Fenix and your good self Capt. Many thanks for showing us differences between the three aircraft in the range 👍 I keep saying it, but it’s a good time to be alive 😊
Don't have 787 so haven't watched many of your videos of late, but this just shows why your the best at explaining how these aircraft work. Thanks for making this video.
As always, a wonderfully informative video. However, we miss you. It's time to fit a couple of Go-Pros in that 787 flight deck and start live streaming from it🙂
Brilliant video, as always. On my recent trip from London to Stuttgart flying with BA the captain, after landing, allowed me to go into the cockpit. It was an A319. I was thrilled to sit in a real cockpit and realise how detailed and fantastically real the Fenix simulator is.
Well spotted! Indeed you are correct. It seems that piece of Airbus knowledge had left my head at some point since leaving the bus! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for doing this video! 😊I’ve really missed your airbus inputs, however I hope your long haul adventures are full of fun! 30 years ago myself, I got a taste of short & long haul life as cabin crew.
This is the addon (and the video) I've been waiting for since basically FSX days. I flew on an Air 2000 A321 from Gatwick to Salzburg in 1999, and a bunch of other 321s going back to Swissair in 1995, and just a few weeks ago I did an Easyjet A319 to Amsterdam, so it's brilliant to finally have these in the sim. One thing you didn't mention is that in the notes, Fenix said they worked on the transition from approach to landing (the flare) a LOT with this update, and from watching your landing and also several done by A330 Driver on his live stream, they all look super smooth. There's no sudden nose dropping or anything. Do you agree that it's better now?
This is a very comforting kind of review: a real pilot taking us to semi-tutorial introduction to this magnificent composite birds, while evaluating the development and presentation. Once again, thank you very much 320 Sim Pilot! You low-key buttered all the demo flight landings, once a sidestick pilot, forever stuck with that feeling. I have ToLiss A320s for X-Plane, this one by Fenix easily has much more detailed visual model.
Really good video explaining the differences. I saw a stream yesterday from one of the other real world pilots, not flying the 320 series, mentioning how hard it was to get the speed down on the 319, but I can hear, that it really behaves like this, nice.
Nice video as always! I hadn't realised how differently they would behave on takeoff, interesting to contrast - slow takeoff roll and quick climb, vs quick takeoff roll and slow climb.
I'm pretty sure you bought me back to LHR from ORD on the 3rd AUG recently on the BA296 B787 service you sound exactly like that F/O if not was from that flight. I'm gunna say thanks for the flight back it was great and I remember the turbulence out of O'Hare that evening where it was consistent for just over an hour haha, thanks again!
I think it's weird that loyal customers that had the A320 already and are now buying the 319 and 321 are now paying more than people who buy the bundle. That's a weird move.
14:20 although interestingly it’s not really the case that the A320 limits the speed brake with with autopilot in, but rather it gives you extra speed brake in manual flight, because half speed brake on the 320 is almost exactly the same deflection as full speed brake on the 319 and 321
Just downloaded these, tried to fly the A321, could not figure out why I couldn't get engines working, then realised after three weeks of getting used to the B777, i had forgot the start up switch, interestingly, also had issues with the throttles, i had to reset the engine profiles, as some sites said there would not be a need to set the engines as the profiles for the a320 would be the same. Still a very nice flight.
For me I am in college and I love the a319, in my shoes I would love it for Fenix to make the three aircraft all a separate purchase. This is since instead of spending say $50 usd for the a319 alone I have to spend up to $120 to be able to get the a319 and two other aircrafts that I do not want or have a want to fly them.
If you are talking about the flight deck seat, it is excellent. Honestly the most comfortable seat I’ve sat in in a flight deck! The only thing I’d prefer is for the arm rests to be soft, they are hard plastic! But a minor complaint as the seat overall is so great!
For the 319 and its speed on approach, is a config 3 landing on a long runway with a higher speed preferred, giving a lower reduction to Vapp, or does the reduced drag from flap 3 cause largely the same issue?
Great question! Sometimes I find them drooped, sometimes not, sometimes one side is and the other isn’t! I wish I could tell you why but I’d need a Boeing engineer to explain it I’m afraid! Liked all other aircraft the flight deck hydraulic switches are off on stand until we are ready to go, but it has many systems working in the background that could cause these effects.
Hello! Great video. Just one question. The 787 in msfs likes to throttle up even on authrottle and when i spelt a speed... is there a fix or is it a bug? Am I doing something wrong? I have all my speeds set and everything
Trim is shown as MACTOW, just below the MACZFW, put that in your TO calculador and it will give you a trim value (X.XUP/DN) You can also use the MACTOW value to set the trim, but i dont really like to do this way
i’m very intrigued by these aircraft. my question is, for the average simmer, is there enough difference in experience to justify the extra expense? do you recommend them?
This is always a tricky question! It’s going to come down to what you like to do in your simulator. If you have a specific airline and route you want to recreate, or have learned as much as you can about the A320 and want to try something new then yes, this expansion is super. But if you aren’t sure of course you may wish to purchase a different style of aircraft to try out! Ultimately these are super detailed and beautiful models but the A320 family is largely similar. It just depends what you are looking to get from it.
@@320SimPilot thanks so much for the reply. i have the 738 and when the 777 came out it was an easy purchase because of the huge difference in experience. i’m very interested in these but the jury is still out. that aside, your videos are utterly fantastic and truly appreciated. you’ve taught me so much about the aircraft and how to operate them. cheers!
my a321 flares without input literally. Without touching the sidestick it goes by it self from -700 to 0, sometimes floating withour even controlling it
In Europe it seems they wait until they’re closer to configure for landing. In the US you’re supposed to be fully configured by the final approach fix. It typically comes down between 7 and 4 miles DME. There are variables in some cases. I tend to lower earlier than I should as well, but a lot of that is needing the extra couple miles to finish my landing checks. It’s going to be much easier for 2 pilots since it’s made to be flown by two pilots.
@@agoogleuser4317 that would have been a difficult task. The 757 is very much like the 737 classic (300-500); thick wings for hot and high etc. It would have to go through both NG and Max changes ie a completely new wing design.
The only channel where I like the videos before I've watched them. Fabulous. Question. I appreciate you are type rated for the family of Airbuses. How does currency work. If you flew the A319 for 6 months, could you just jump into an A321 and fly it? I'm guessing they are so similar that you can. Great video!

The takeoff and landing look decent fot once. My biggest criticism of MSFS is how light planes feel - lacking inertia, reacting too easily to pitch and roll movements compared to X-Plane or any other flight sim. Is that still the case when in flight? Have you configured sensitivity curves to mute the reactive pitch up on takeoff and landing?
Some airlines have one and not the other, some airports can only take the A319. When it comes with the additional centre tanks and Shelley’s the A321 can do transcontinental USA flights
You say it’s hard to slow down a 319 because it’s light - but then you point out that it easily maintains 180 with only flap 1 out because it’s light. Isn’t there a contradiction?
Great question! My point about the 180 flap 1 is that it can slow down to that speed without needing more flap. The ‘S’ speed is nicely at or usually below 180, whereas on the A321 would of course not be the case. In the video we are actually still a relatively heavy A319 and 180 is available to us at flap 1. The difficulty in slowing down in a A319 refers to once you are already on the glide slope, as it has the nose low to maintain the glideslope at 180 (due to its big wing!) it will then struggle to decelerate, and has a lot more speed to lose due to the low approach speeds! This makes the standard ‘160 kts to 4 miles’ that lots of busy airports ask for more of a challenge to achieve. I hope this helps!
I don't like how they made the 321 and 319 require the a320 too. Fs2020 already comes with an a320, I don't want an a319. I was only interested in the a321. I can see how it was a "good" business decision, but I refuse to be screwed over, so now I'm passing on all 3.
No the fs2020 doesn't come with a320ceo stock, and boo-hoo you can buy a 3 pack from fenix for 80gbp or a single model from pmdg for almost the same price.
You didn’t push the flap 3 button from the overhead, so of course it won’t say flap 3 in the ecam. Funny how every IRL airbus pilot knows it but not you it appears.
Indeed that is correct! I haven’t flown the Airbus for well over a year as I now fly the 787 (I mention this in the video). Unfortunately that meant in this case that piece of information had clearly been lost by my brain when I learned the Dreamliner! I hope you enjoyed the video regardless
