I had not watched the movie because not only it opened wounds I didn’t want to open, but the actor looked almost exactly like my Son who did not make it. The fact that Nic has found a way to live life as we should, and not in prison, as drugs make people, gives me hope that was lost. God bless you Nic. May God Bless You. 🌸
Hi Nick, haven't watched one of your talks in awhile. Been rebuilding and changing my life this past year. I lost two of my children to the dark. Tyler refused or manipulated help for 13 years then took his life in 2017. He was my baby, my youngest, brilliant, beautiful and an athlete but had such demons.
My middle child, my Jenni, was powerful, brave, beautiful and I knew something was wrong early. We tried different programs, different therapist and medicines but although she kept picking herself up and trying again and again she lost her battle in 2019. For five years I just managed to survive because it was expected. Because I didn't want my life to be the sum total of my loss. I got up early every day to take care of my family and eventually reached the point where I knew it was not sustainable. I struggled with guilt. Guilt for not having saved my children and guilt that my eldest daughter, my grandchildren and family weren't enough to make me want to live. I ended up changing my life completely and moving closer to my daughter and leaving my very stressful career. I don't regret any day of these past six months. I continue to grieve for my children but now have days of true happiness again. Thank you for all you do to help others.
I love this guy, I've read Tweak and We All Fall Down and listened to so many of his talks and interviews. I relate to so much of his story. I'm so happy he found his life and is living happily. That gives me hope to continue on my path of recovery, he helps me staying hopeful for my future
I read them as well, as an addict myself with nearly the same story (minus needles. I only smoked all the drugs) - it's still a daily struggle. I respected we all fall down so much...the imposter syndrome and understanding you need to find your own way. I wish he would do another memoir sober.
I put myself along with my family through hell. Started at 16 and finally finished at 50. I watched the movie and cried because it reminded me of the same shit I did. It’s been seven years since I’ve done drugs and sometimes I think why not. What stops me is thinking about my mom and dad and what I put them through and how they never gave up. They’re gone now but that is what I get strength from. Addiction is horrible while lying to yourself that it’s helping what’s wrong. More needs to be done.
I found Beautiful Boy, Tweak & We All Fall Down extremely moving. I read them all in a row. What a journey.
This man is very intelligent. He’s learned so much and grown so much. I don’t even know him yet I’m so proud of him. Keep fighting the good fight, Nic ❤️
I am so taken back by how inspirational Nic is to me. I want to meet this guy so bad to just talk and thank him for sharing his story.
I read Beautiful Boy and reading Tweak right now....I'm 72 and really like this young man..he's so honest and real. Wish Nic the best always 💖 My adult son dabbles in Meth as much as he can...this has been going on for over 25 years and of course I have tried everything to get him to stop but I have learned it is not in my control...

I have read both "Beautiful Boy" and "Tweaked". I liked hearing the 2 different versions. We heard the fathers side, and things he did not know about when Nic was gone. Then we heard from Nic who told the brutally honest truth about what had taken place when he was gone.
They were both great books, I enjoyed both of them very much

Hi Nic, this is Dina from Rome. I came to know about your story thanks to the movie. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to know more about you and your story. Now I'm watching all of your + your father's interviews. I have two children who are not - thank God! - addicted. But my 14 years old son is a bit of a "rebel". As a parent, I often struggle to understand how I should act in order to be firm but supporting with him, and your father is an inspiration for me in that sense. I feel so sorry for all the pain that you and your family have gone through, but I believe that this things happen for a combination of reasons. Everybody makes mistakes but no one is really guilty. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey. You are in fact a beautiful boy!
Have you read Beautiful Boy? The book is so much better than the movie. I didn't like the movie too much and the book is a hard read but it's so good to understand the parents point of view through addiction.

I just finished Nic’s book, and I’m just so happy to see him doing for the most part alright. The struggle never stops, but he’s come a very long way. Hope he’s proud of himself. I don’t even know the guy personally, and I’m proud of him.
Unfortunately, he exaggerated and embellished a substantial portion of the material in his book. DeQuincey, Burroughs, Kiedis, Sixx, Burroughs, Jr., Trocchi, etc, etc. I hope that you follow. This kid is spoiled, narcissistic, delusional and sadly, he is attempting to be a halfassed 'Literary Outlaw.' Oh, he is also a rather strange looking cat. I have been addicted to high potency opioid analgesics for most of the past 32 years, including my current treatment with methadone. There is no way I'd bother writing about it, since the same story, rewritten with different characters, different drugs, different hustling/ copping routines has been beat to death!😂 Now, the book may indeed be fascinating to the uninitiated 😉. I respect one's right to read whatever one chooses. As a long term addict, though, there's nothing new in Beautiful Boy's prosaic pile of rubbish, 'Tweak.' Remembet that Billy Burroughs, Jr. wrote 'Speed' in 1970!!

It’s been 10 year sober already as he mentioned, why I can still notice his short of breath when he speaks? I am in recovery myself, I sometimes feel short of breath.

I was wondering about his stance about medical marijuana used by patients of various ailments. I was addicted to heroin from 2006 until 2013, yet totally kicked it and have always been sober from it since, but I have used marijuana medically for years before and to this very day to treat my Crohn's. My question is, do you condone medical marijuana use, giving the fact that no other drug is used? I understand about your disorder, my mom died of it from opiate use in 2017. I was just wondering if you don't treat only marijuana users as you do yourself and others with SAD.
