The first Ultimate Spider-Man codified Peter Parker as a man trapped in arrested development forever, so it’s only fair that the new Ultimate Spider-Man asks “What if Peter B was canon?”
Dear ASM writers, THIS is what the fans actually want. Telling your own story is important but when you're dealing with an already established character with 60+ years of legacy and millions of fans, you have a big responsibility to maintain that character's legacy and not taint it. Again, I'm no writer but I dearly hope whatever story you're telling ends on a high note for the characters. Until that happens, I'm switching to USM.
I think that's what they want you to do. No idea why anyone would read through Wells' ASM, but they're clearly making USM2 to appeal to people like us. Who want to see Spider-Man where he's supposed to be at this point.
@@kingofcarts1738 I have noticed a trend where one of their comic lines goes downhill or is sidelined due to ownership politics (FF) and Hickman steps in, does crazy world building built on the backbone of a bunch of obscure characters/storylines with a bunch of new contents and essentially brings that comic line back to life. So I'm very excited about this!
Hickman's FF run, his Secret Wars (2015), his Krakoa X-Men, all of those stories were big switches from their previous stories and typically create lasting impacts that still get referenced years later, so there's a lot of promise here
It's not the writers but Marvel itself that wants Spider-man to be a lovable loser.
The fact that Peter Parker is an established character working within the main continuity of a comic book universe is why stuff like One More Day happen. Sliding timelines are going to result in funky continuity, retcon, and stasis. When a story doesn’t have to theoretically run indefinitely, radical changes to status quo can hold. Spider-Man: Life Story didn’t have to run for infinity issues while being passed beyond 30 writers over 60 years
@@TheJadedJames A gift and a curse, Peter can't stop being Spider-Man. The thing is though OMD undid lots. And ruined a lot of potential. Only recently we are finally getting the push of Peter being a family man.
There were a few other storylines, but ever since ISTV. Seems like this is the new direction now. Spider-man finally growing up. Except for ASM...
0:26 The Goblin looks very interesting, Still unsure how I feel as it does look like a random Oscorp enemy you'd fight in a Spider-Man game rather than the main Green Goblin himself. Maybe he'll develop overtime which would be cool visually getting more unique as time goes on.
Marvel's Spider-Man 3's Green Goblin will no doubt look very similar this judging from there other villains wearing more modern looking tech. But 100% overtime we could see him dawning his classic leather bag, worn armour, and maybe even something cover the armour similar to a tunic. Start off as a basic Oscorp created Battle suit that then develops into the Green Goblin.
Green Goblin's look is the only thing that I don't really like so far. He doesn't look like a goblin. It looks like he's wearing slightly modified Iron Man armour that's been painted purple and green. I hope his look evolves so that the Green Goblin actually looks like a goblin.
Looking at the trailer, in the scene of a wall of names, Norman Osborn is there, perhaps it’s Harry or someone else?

@@doseoflzr That would just be a rehash of previous stories. It would be pretty pointless for a universe that is supposed to be a new take on the Marvel universe.

I love how they’re bringing back Spider-man’s OG chest spider design for this iteration of character. It’s like this is a love letter to all of the long-time fans of Spider-man. ♥️🕷️

Crazy how literally all the right moves are being made in Spider-Man comics except main ASM because literally no one with any sort of self-respect or dignity wants to be held back by the governing editorial powers that will screw up their story from the onset. Really looking forward to this though, especially with Hickman and Checchetto involved

I'm super interested in the family relationships, and the drama that seems to be on the horizon for this family as Spider-Man enters their lives. It leaves me super scared for what this family will suffer through, and I can't wait to see what happens within this family as their relationships progress throughout the story. (I just hope that everything turns out well for them in the end. Because at the end of the day, family is always there for each other.
Proud to say this will be the first Spider-Man comic I will get, I’m just so intrigued I can’t wait.

NGL, reviving Ultimate Spider-man and giving it to Hickman may be the most positive and ambitious thing I’ve seen with the Wallcrawler in years. Can’t wait to see how this plays out

I'm honestly confused it isn't the ultimate Spider-Man is this a revamp or something? I'm not mad at the idea I'm just a bit confused on is this a continuation or just a whole new story itself

You can read about it in Ultimate Invasion but essentialy, tldr; Maker, the evil Reed Richards from the original Ultimate universe went to a version of the ultimate universe before superheroes started appearing and changed a bunch of stuff like stopping Peter from being bitten by the spider, making it so the Fantastic Four die insead of getting powers, in order to control the world, but he was defeated by Dr.Doom, Iron Man(Howard Stark) and Kang with an army of cloned Ultimates. After Dr.Doom told Tony how Howard died, Tony became Iron Lad and now we're gonna see how this universe unfolds.

I am very curious about Hickman's take on a Peter Parker who is bitten by a spider in a later point of his life. You'd imagine how much maturity this Peter would have compared to his other iterations who've been bitten in their teenage years. A lot of interesting corners to explore, overall.

@@MatthewLoh-ru1mw Not so much... story of a life and renew your vows are from a few years ago and then there was also the version in which MJ was dead and Peter without an arm and his son became the new Spider-Man (while in MC2 he was without a leg and Mayday became Spider-Girl). To be frank, it's a theme that's tired me, I don't think I'll buy this series.

@@hunterrousseau3770The mask is very good but we are not able to see the emotions, but yes, when he opens the yellow glass, we can see the emotion in his eyes and the mouth is also visible a little.

I’m so excited for this! After the disaster ASM comic run we’ve gotten, we definitely needed this
12 years later (for me the series ended with the death of the Ultimate Peter Parker. Not because I had anything against Miles Morales, but because I loved that Peter too much) the series with which I started collecting comics is about to return. Never been so hyped for a comic.

@@locodesert2 not sure. Universe was shown to us when Maker came there, but it was in fire. We haven’t seen anybody there. So he might be quite dead. It’s not confirmed whether he is or not

This comic is selling like wildfire and for good reason. Every major comic shop in Atlanta was completely out of issue one 3 days after it was put on the shelves.
