This got me thinking of that gigaleak that happened a few years back. Reportedly only 3 gigabytes of the 2 terabytes retrieved was released to the public, so I'm VERY interested in that as a lost media case and whether or not it's even retrievable or was destroyed before being able to be released to the public.

I'm not really sure if we should qualify material stolen from a company as lost media. It is very interesting but, we're not really supposed to have access to that and the data should be relatively maintained by the company itself.
There are a lot of NEWS workstation backups within it that are lost forever. The tapes failed by the time they backed them up.

Great explanation about the Azure Flute! A fun fact about events from gens 1-5: The events that are unlocked with an item and involves dialogue, new areas, etc. are already in the game files from release. You're not receiving an item and downloading a whole new area, the distribution just ticks a flag in the save file that tells the game to give the player the required item. Just like how Claire won't give you the 8th badge if you trade a Pokemon that's holding a dragon fang. The actual story/event flag for her to give you the badge is only triggered when you pick it up from the Dragon Den. That's why Pokemon map randomisers can send you to these areas that contain mythical Pokemon, the GS ball still is in the ORIGINAL Western release of Crystal and accessible through action replay or save editors, action replay codes can enable these events and ticking event flags for your save into a save editor will give you access to these items and areas. They're already programmed into the game.
Fun fact: Kid Kirby was actually being developed by DMA Design which eventually turned into Rockstar North!

I wish Nintendo was a little more like sega and was a little more open to accepting its past or at least do a little bit of fan service but yeah I always loved Nintendo since I was younger
Nintendo does publish most of their classic games which is more than can be said of Sega who predominantly just does Sega Genesis games and the most available compilation of Sega's Genesis game has shoddy emulation. You either have to find a Genesis Mini, pay Nintendo or play Yakuza games to get the decent versions of their non-Sonic games. Sega does have a few remakes for their later titles but, Nintendo has gotten far better coverage of their 2000s era to early 2010s era even going by the Switch alone. The only real advantage Sega has is that they tend to be more lax on fangames.

And some emulation and subscription issues aside, the games they’re bringing to NSO service lately have been choices I would have never seen coming from them to include ten years ago on Virtual Console.
I now have to think some game as my joke “oh they’ll never port, let’s say, Iggy’s Wreckin’ Balls” cause they ported Iggy’s Wreckin’ Balls. That’s a wild inclusion I didn’t ask for but glad we have.
@@PIKMINROCK1 nso is just emulators but you pay them for it, you can get more accurate roms and emulators for free online. the snes mini emulator was also shoddy.
also, you can connect real old controllers to your pc, thats like a core feature of emulators like mesen lmfao
@Hunterwii2008 don't, don't love Nintendo, they have done nothing but force people to pay money again and again for the same game and couldn't care less that 80% of the crap on their system is total garbage shovelware neither do they care that you've spent $60 on a game that should cost $30 in all truth and reality, it isn't PS5 it's Nintendo, they've always been money hungry jerks that would erase your old data if they could just so you have to buy the game again, or better in their eyes, pay a continuous fee to access a small catalogue of crap and tell you to thank them with more money 🙄

A cool reference for your Mario quiz cards. The info stored for those cards was more than likely a result of the game “Mario is missing” which released in 92. 3 years earlier. So what better way to get more money out of a lot of stored data Nintendo collected? Manufacturing of cards. Since I don’t think that Mario is missing took off like they thought. I believe they had enough data they would consider a second Mario is missing game if the first was a success.
Oh man, I actually played Segasonic the Arcade as a kid at my local arcade! It was a huge white sit-down type cabinet and it had three trackballs. Surprisingly, the game is a lot of fun. I can see why it would be hard to port it without the trackball, the game is really frantic and you end up slapping the trackball like your life depends on it. I remember beating the desert level and reading the text "To be continued" or something and being pissed that it just ended there. Would love to play it again some day.

Maaaan, just hearing someone say "the SNES never interested me, the games never interested me" is such a gutpunch, I grew up with and TO THIS DAY by far consider it to have the best libarary of games of all times, like Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Tetris Attack, Mega Man X and 7, Lufia 2, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound and on and on and on are still all my very favorite games.
...then he mentions interest in some random cancelled Kirby game I've never heard of and I'm like.. .dude, you have access to THE BEST Kirby game of all time to this day, Kirby Superstar on SNES lol

A bunch of artists join every year and get sorted into two teams, they draw each other's ocs to earn points for their team (these drawings are called 'attacks"). The team with the most points at the end wins! This'll be by first year participating
Sonic Arcade was a missed opportunity for a DS or 3ds release. The touchscreen and stylus, plus tue shoulder buttons could have made for a portable port.
Mario Quiz Cards were sold in a big blue laminated box decorated with SMW artwork. The box also came with a small calculator to do simple math. It was given to me as a kid and I still have it in my collection complete with all the cards and inserts
You should show the box for a yt short so people can see how the cards came!

Great News Hebereke is now on Nintendo Switch Online pass on the Super Nintendo Pass its a in the Original Japanese language so its not translated.
The question is more the mobile versions. However, I do feel that it may be possibly ported to the Switch eventually considering G-Mode has releasing their G-Mode Archives series regularly. It would just require Sunsoft to license their games to G-Mode like Atlus and City Connection
Do Lost Media people know about the Xenosaga mobile game? It’s obviously not Nintendo but it obviously has a heavy connection to what’s now a major Nintendo franchise. As with most mid-2000s mobile games it is now lost, although it is pretty well documented

I don't understand how the azure flute Arceus is lost media.
There has got to be someone smart enough within the Nintendo lost media fandom who could create a software that creates a 1:1 copy of every version of the QR code possible. It is a detailed QR code yes but the detail is the same on them all “Mii” so that won’t be a hangup. There are plenty of simple QR Code programs, just get someone to reverse engineer whatever software you find that creates nearly as complex a code as the Mii codes are. Obviously it’s easier said than done however people have done a lot more complex things in scary fast time on the internet when they’ve been challenged to do so.
People have probably given up on the search for "Go for a Punch" by now, but it's definitely a real thing and not a myth.
I've seen it a few times during high school and it's around 40 minutes long. The anime begins with a cold open of a girl crying while looking at a picture of her dad on her cellphone. The ending has that girl leave the bathroom after saying "It's open". The full story is that 3-4 girls sneak into school after dark and then some bad guys trap them in there. The girls slowly go insane and only one leaves alive. It's mostly talking, but I remember it being pretty insightful. I think that one of the girls said something along the lines of "Well? What are you waiting for? Go for a... a punch!" Oh, and the title card probably said "Period". My memory is a little hazy, but this is basically everything I know. However, it MAY be the pilot or a mini series of "Hell Girl: Three Vessels" OR an anime created by the infamous Japanese cult "Aum Shinrikyru".
"Go for a punch" basically goes like this: girl on phone is crying at photo of her dad, someone knocks on the stall, arguing/bullying, someone gets kidnapped?, more talking, sadness, depression, feels, the punch (more like a repeated slamming into the sink), eyeball goes pop and lands on the floor or in the sink. Only one girl is left and she exits the bright doorway while saying "It's open" in a monotone/defeated voice. Gives me shivers every time!
I really want people to find it so that I can stop looking like a crazy person for being seemingly the only one who actually remembers it
Guess what? I just remembered some more stuff! There was a guitar girl and a piano girl. The piano girl talked about her troublesome piano lessons and I think that there was an original piano song chosen which we've already found!
I'm not sure how long the girl talked, but I know that the piano was somber as she spoke
While I was searching for more unknown songs, I stumbled across Akiba Tape "Fly Away" and even though I don't remember "go for a punch" having an intro, it's definitely from something I've watched before. I think you should look more into the names mentioned in the song and also, it's really catchy.
It’s really kind of frustrating that something as obviously valuable as the Space Channel 5 pilot could be casually sitting on YT as a known matter of fact and not saved even ONCE by ANYONE knowing this takedown was an likely eventuality.

whats interesting abt the arceus thing was that, since u got it at level 100, you could only ever ev train it through vitamin items, meaning its evs were capped to 100 per stat, making it dubbed as "farceus" by the fanbase since it wasnt really at its truest potential

I actually have a TON of miis i got through both streetpass and spotpass over the years i had my 3ds. I could upload a video of them. I'm a working adult with a family so i don't really have time to go through a list but i can pop open my 3DS. I still play games on my 3DS so i got it with me at work for my lunch break.
I'm not sure how I would forward it to the search team for that. But I'd love to help preserve anything to do with 3DS
i believe the "hard to understand" part was due to the fact that you were never told how to use the azure flute in its description, unlike the member card or the letter. also, you have actual reasons to return to canalave city and route 224 after beating the game, but outside of platinum, there's no reason to ever return to spear pillar after beating the game. instructions would probably have to be provided at the event distribution site, which they probably did not want to do.

I mean, you can access the Arceus with a glitch as well, so no external cheating device needed.. but it's quite difficult. You can argue about how legitimate that truly is, but you can argue the same for someone using a privately-owned but real distribution cart after the public end of the event.
You know thinking about it? My 3ds has a bunch of Nintendo characters on street pass and the puzzles especially as well, but my 3DS hasn't worked for years. The touchscreen that is still charges and still turns on. It's the touch screen that doesn't work, so yea need to get that fixed to be able to use it all. But it's got me thinking about it, to be honest

No mention of Paper Mario lost media like the Super Mario RPG 2 prototype, Super Paper Mario for GameCube or Paper Mario 3DS E3 2010? I think all these could use a boost in interest, especially the last one.
Those aren't getting released to the public. It would be like asking for the Super Mario 128 demo. I don't believe the Paper Mario 3DS game was even at E3, just in the presentation which would be the only accessible way of getting those. You are asking for predevelopment builds which would be only available at Intelligent Systems.

So donkey kong plus was a actual thing, i do remember seeing that video of donkey kong plus surprisingly at a mall i used to go when i was a kid back in Puerto Rico, it was at a EB Games that mall used to have and one of thd TV's always showed that gameplay, my mom did bought me mario vs donkey kong back when it came out in 2004 and i always swore that there was a gamecube version.... guess i wasnt too far off

As far as I'm concerned, with the revival of Nintendo DS's online features, the new events to get those items to catch those Pokémon are perfectly valid and legitimate. They're generated by the game's code.
I believe unreleased events would be illegal for transfer in Pokemon Bank/Home which is why it's relatively lost. That would pretty much only apply to the Azure Flute event but, it's still notably.

arceus is the only Pokemon to have its pronunciation changed due to the original pronunciation partially because it sounded like the British word arse, meaning ass, so it's pronunciation was changed to be ar-key-us
