I will NEVER go to a stylist that requires me to shampoo and condition my own hair. She doesn’t know what foundation she is styling your hair on. Even just braiding your hair. I was taught how many years ago but they don’t know that. I can make my hair look healthy, like most stylist can, so unless you get your hands in there, you won’t know. I understand nobody wants to shampoo a head that hasn’t been cleaned in 6 months. So require braids, weaves out and hair shampoo at least 1 week before they come in. Then I would do it again so I know the foundation I’m working with. I shampoo and deep condition my hair a least a week before I go for my trims. I trust my cosmetologist and she knows I know how to take care of my hair , we are a team, a healthy hair team.

Omg ! My husband is always encouraging me to go to a salon and get my hair done and I just be like nuh uhn I can’t do that ! I can’t do that ! And he be like why not ?! And I’m like it’s to much to explain but I can’t just go to anybody . It’s hard to find the right one ! And I refuse to pay my money for a sub par experience to somebody with a bad attitude only doing a half ass job and “okay-ish” results that won’t last more than a couple days in this Houston weather 🤷🏽♀️

I wash my hair flipped over in the sink, and I've noticed the more aggressive I get with the scale (nails scratching) the end results is not what I want. The blow dry and flat iron are meh at best! I will definitely ease up on the scalp scratching!
Yes ease up on the scalp and smooth your hair-shaft going downward towards your ends.

I agree with everything you say in this video. Scrubbing your hair in all directions just creates tangles which leads to breakage and heartache due to the amount of time spent detangling the horror created by your own hands. I have now ordered Olaplex😊. Thank you, and keep 'em coming.😊

outside of African hair braiding or the barber, I've never gone to a stylist that requires my hair be washed beforehand. I could neverrr! 😩 even before my main stylist got into salons, she would wash clients' hair first no matter the style and still does

When they say come with your hair wash, I automatically say I won't spend my money on a half ass job. You can charge $300 but can't even wash the hair... they don't even do that at the high class salons you know the ones that service mimosas Yea those. The point of getting your hair done by a professional is for the full experience. Because at the end of the day all these techniques can be self taught. So in other words if I got to wash my hair I might as well take the time to learn the rest and save the $300 and which I have. I've learn how to do butterflies locos and box braids. Which I'm natural so I know how to do somethings to my hair it's just so thick and long takes me 3 days to twist it but hell if I gotta wash and blow it , it's just another step. It's my hair. So I'll do whatever to take care of it. But you are so right about the hair wash before it gets done, It's crazy to me.
It’s the salons your choosing love. If they say they don’t shampoo say ok and keep it moving. Choose your tribe and stay in peace. I’m sorry that’s been your experience, I don’t know why stylist are this way. Thanks for watching.

I swear I learn so much from this channel to the point where I feel stupid sometimes 🤦🏾♀️. Cyn, how can you make sure the cuticle stays closed after blow drying? And, are there products you can use to seal it off?
You hit your hair with that cold shot on your blow dryer, I believe. Right, Cyn? And products that I've seen stylists on TH-cam use to help seal it is something like a very lightweight holding spray. Meaning, it won't make your hair hard. It'll still be pliable. One of those products were Sebastian Shaper Plus.
Yes exactly you hit it with a cold shot after blow drying. Then you sit under a dryer covered in a plastic cap with cold air to close the cuticle.

Would the Olaplex shampoo be sufficient enough to cleanse the hair after a long term protective style (knotless box braids) or would you more so recommend a clarifying shampoo instead?

With shampoo, conditioner and leave in. The same , it’s still hair.
Hello, CynDoll. I used to use Glover's Mane as a prewash. After shampooing just oiled hair and braided up. Is this a good product to clean the scalp?

Thank you for the video Ive been washing my hair for almost 20 years adding conditioner to my scalp smh I never knew conditioner isn’t for your scalp.. I do have two questions I’m new to olaplex I’m buying shampoo n conditioner
1) is the shampoo for every wash? I wash weekly I understand it clarifies n that u don’t use clarifies weekly I could be wrong help!
2) Also for the conditioner I have low porosity hair so I should only add it to my strands then sit under a hooded dryer for few then remove?

Quick question. Is it possible to have high porosity hair that acts like low porosity? My washday was today and I paid more attention to how my scalp felt. I washed my hair in sections. But I felt the tingling the first time I used the shampoo on the strands in back because they were always getting wet while I was doing the front of my head.
No unless other spots have damage.
Hey Cyn, I struggle with this over the bath washing my hair myself. Do I just smooth my hair from the nape upwards then. If that makes sense? Was much easier to do this in an standard alone shower.😩😩 thank you for dropping the hair knowledge ALWAYS! love from the 🇬🇧
