Do you glue the ends of the vase down to make it stay open?
It stays open from the bulkiness of all the folds. No glue needed.

It really bothered me you ruined the book by cutting it! Folding the book intact your still preserving the words written by the author. Just something about cutting a book up doesn’t sit right with me.
I understand how you feel. I felt the same way at first. I usually use discarded books that were headed to the recycling bin.
