    Gotthard Panorama Express Train
    Our adventure begins in the stunning city of Lugano, known for its Mediterranean flair nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps. We hop on the Gotthard Panorama Express, a train that offers panoramic windows for a front-row seat to Switzerland's mesmerizing landscapes. The journey takes us through the lush Ticino region, the heart of the Swiss-Italian culture, and eventually leads us to Fluelen, our first stop.
    Fluelen to Lucerne Steamboat Ride
    At Fluelen, we transition to another mode of transportation - a charming steamboat! Step back in time as we board the classic paddle steamer, which offers us stunning views of Lake Lucerne. The picturesque landscapes and crystal-clear waters are a sight to behold.
    Lake Lucerne Scenic Views
    Cruising on Lake Lucerne, we admire the dramatic backdrop of the Swiss Alps, including iconic peaks like Pilatus and Rigi. This serene boat journey provides the perfect opportunity to take in the fresh mountain air, savor delicious Swiss cuisine, and snap some breathtaking photos.
    Arriving in Lucerne
    Our adventure culminates in the enchanting town of Lucerne. This picturesque city is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, including the famous Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), Lion Monument, Museggmauer (medieval city wall and clock tower with city views), and much more. In the next vide we will share our experience touring the city's charming streets and soaking up the rich history and culture of this magical place.

    Thanks for the informative video! I am also planning to take the Gottard Panorama Express from Lugano to Lucerne. I have bought my train tickets from Lugano to Fluelen. I would like to find out if it is necessary to pre-book the steamboat tickets from Fluelen to Lucerne? or they can be bought after alighting from the train at Fluelen? And if the steamboat tickets can free under the Swiss Travel Pass?

      @@kennethgoh2195 glad to hear that you’ll be taking the train trip 🚂 🏔️. I purchased a 1st Class Saver Day Pass directly from the SBB APP. With this day pass it includes the Gotthard Panorama Express, the boat ride from Flüelen to Lucerne, and smaller train rides and buses in and around Lucerne for the entire day. I found that this saver pass was less expensive than buying a ticket specifically for the Gotthard Express.
      Additionally, the Gotthard Panorama Express train requires you to make a 1st class seat reservation, which can also be purchased on the SBB APP or website.

    Does the tunnel last about 20 minutes? I don't like tunnels. :) Was it bothersome to have strangers facing you in the seats in front of you? We will be travelling in early July, so I expect the train to be full. We may choose the single seats and face each other. Thank you for the information.

      The tunnel lasts only about 5 to 10 minutes. Also, when I rode the train my wife and I had both rows of seats to ourselves, so we did not have to face directly across strangers. The trains can be packed with people, but during the time I went in August we had plenty of room.
      Sounds like you’re gearing up for an amazing trip. Switzerland is definitely a beautiful country and riding on the train is one of the best ways to explore it.

    Can you take this from train from Tirano?

    • @bkkdavidg
      @bkkdavidg  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you cannot take the Gotthard Express directly from Tirano. The Gotthard Panorama Express operates between Lugano (or Flüelen) and Lucerne in Switzerland. It involves a scenic train ride through the Gotthard region and a boat ride on Lake Lucerne.
      However, if you are in Tirano, you can take the Bernina Express to Chur, Switzerland. From Chur, you can then travel by train to Lugano or Lucerne to connect with the Gotthard Panorama Express. Here's a possible route:
      1. **Bernina Express**: Take the Bernina Express from Tirano to Chur.
      2. **Chur to Lugano/Lucerne**: From Chur, take a regular train to Lugano or Lucerne.
      3. **Gotthard Panorama Express**: From Lugano or Lucerne, you can board the Gotthard Panorama Express to enjoy the scenic journey through the Gotthard region.
      This way, you can experience both the Bernina Express and the Gotthard Panorama Express on your trip.

    Also, are there better coaches than others? Some are full and some are almost empty, and I'm wondering why. Thanks again. :)

    So you have a commentator for the whole trip?

    • @bkkdavidg
      @bkkdavidg  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you book a ticket for the Gotthard Panorama Express the commentator stays with you the entire time on the train pointing out things of interest, provides historical information, and adds to the experience. During the steamboat ride there is not a commentator and you are free to sit anywhere on the boat. To book your ticket, you can use the SBB APP, and for more information about this route and the Gotthard Panorama Express you can visit: www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/holidays-switzerland/panorama-trips/gotthard-panorama-express/experience.html

    Is there luggage storage area on the boat

    • @bkkdavidg
      @bkkdavidg  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. Yes, the steamboat offers free luggage storage for carry on size luggage. If you’re planning to take the Gotthard Panorama Express, then the train part of the journey also offers free luggage transfer. Then your luggage can be retrieved at the train station in Lucerne.
