      Better if the trucks where entirely a single soiid colour: yellow. Coventry promoted this in the 60s. It was great, but we've adopted a less effective splotch of colours. At distance they just merge into the background. See coventry-yellow.blogspot.com/

    The Saab/Scania fire engines 🚒 would make a great addition to fire departments across America and even small private institution fire brigades like Pepperdine University in Malibu, California USA 🇺🇸.

    • @jennao2348
      @jennao2348 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't think they make them in the states

    • @christophercotton9048
      @christophercotton9048 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jenna O234 we do have the Volvo commercial trucks (18-wheelers) on the roads here. So it wouldn’t be too tough an issue to have those fire engines made here in these USA 🇺🇸. It would give the big 3 (Seagrave, Pierce and E-1) a run for their money. California based Crown 👑 Motorcoach used to do fire engines 🚒 up until the 1980s and focused solely on their very popular school buses.

    I was a retain FF in the west mids for around six years, and I have to say we had much more of a sense of urgency than a lot of these crews seem to have. (Unless this is purely for training purposes?)

    • @hobmoor2042
      @hobmoor2042 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be training or it could be that they already know it's a non-life threatening call out.

    • @Autofleet4429
      @Autofleet4429 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As my instructor used to say "don't run but walk with a purpose" when you rush you have less time to complete your procedures, less time to think and form a action plan and more likely to forget/fail to complete tasks properly.
      The amount of times I used to get a bollocking for rushing by my Sub i've lost count

      @@YelpBullhorn unfortunately Dennis don't make fire engines anymore so we will have to use the next best thing.

    • @YelpBullhorn
      @YelpBullhorn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Autofleet4429 .... and that definitely isn't a Scania. A friend of mine is on the training staff at Lancashire FRS training centre, and he's also worked at Moreton-in-Marsh with their eclectic fleet of vehicles, so has worked with every make of fire engine in the country. He reckons back in the day Dodge, Ford, Bedford and Dennis were the dog's bollocks. Today he rates Leyland DAF and Volvo as great bases for fire appliances, reckons Scania and Mercedes are dogshit, and M.A.N. are just not fit for purpose. But to him, a firefighter of 30+ years, nothing, absolutely NOTHING compares to Dennis.

    Silly question, but what's a "targeted response vehicle"? I mean, by its very nature all 999 responses are targeted, otherwise they'd just be vaguely driving around town, hoping to happen upon someone in need of police, fire, or ambulance.
