Carson, I am an almost 75 year old (May 24th) still working one or two gigs a week musician Guitar player/singer. I have been a very big appreciator (fan?) of you and Josh's excellent covers and originals for at least the last 5 years or so. I'm a native Californian relocated to Texas 26 years ago. I caught your show in Dallas last month and dragged my wife and another couple to the show. They weren't as familiar with ya'll but are now. By the way, I had a band in the late 1960's called "The Others". We had one single release on Mercury Records called "I'm in Need". We were good enough to open for a few bigger named groups back then. The Turtles, The Byrds and The Doors. Now to the point about this song. I had an older brother who played drums with a big R&B group and he turned me on to Ray Charles when I was about 12. (I started guitar lessons at 9). He loved this song Mary Ann and we would listen to it and play along with it back then. I in turn have loved it over the years and probably only got to play it in a band once or twice. Josh and Beth, Marc and Elijah (My God what great jazz chops that boy has!!!!!!!!!!) capture the feel that Ray's group had even without the horns. Josh does a great simulation on his guitar and you don't even really miss them. The Groove that you mentioned IS Spectacular and Beth makes all that happen so easily!! Anyway, I really enjoyed you guy's show! I was hoping and would have loved to see Tony and Reina join ya'll but maybe next time...
Nothing warms my 70 year old heart more than seeing young kids having fun recreating classic R & B tunes like this. The beauty of music is that you have to re-create it and reinvent it every time you play it. Also, I love all the tempo changes. The drummer literally never missed a beat during all the changeovers.
Young men - I am 71 - and I feel the same about this phantastic musicians. So it seems to me, it is not a question of age. By the way, to year 1950 was the best! Greetings from Germany. God bless you all.
The flow of Beth’s drum sticks over the set is just marvellous! All the music is lovely, and your two travelogues is such a joy to be able to partake in!
Can't believe I haven't heard Beth before. She plays the tastiest stuff. Everything else is awesome top shelf. But I mean come on that's awesome grooving.
I never tire of hearing this version of Mary Ann from Josh and Friends! And I could watch and listen to Beth on drums forever!! Just sayin' it doesn't get much groovier than this! I bet Ray is smiling and rockin' from the grave!!
What is even better than getting to listen to a brilliant guitarist and vocalist is listening to him sing and play with equally talented friends all in a state of Flow. Thank you for your work.
Glad to see Marc playing upright bass. I've never seen him not have fun. Totally great rendition of a great tune. They say your friends are a reflection of yourself so Josh should be proud and so should his friends. And that drummer is smokin'. Never listened to drums much but I've gained an appreciation for good drummers (mostly because of bad drummers). She's great. And the piano cooks too. Just a great tune all around.
I absolutely need more out of this specific group of musicians. I've loved the travelogue so far but this performance stands out, despite all of them so far being fantastic. And as a drummer, all these top comments are right; she's a superb drummer.
It's refreshing to see a drummer really showcasing the depth of tones you can get out of a snare alone and really exploit it so creatively in a groove like this - and the technique was so controlled! Awesome tune, awesome musicianship all around
So much to love about this vid: The energy, the musicianship, the tempo changes (especially love the shuffle part), the vocals, and the drummer’s ability to play with verve while not being overbearing!
Speechless. Everything, but everything, exact to an astounding degree. And Ms Goodfellow banging away, twirling her drumsticks . . . just, cripes. Perfection. A whole new understanding of garage music. And can I add, the usual Josh touch of perfect sound balance? I am struggling for words. What an utter delight.
She listened to Ray Charles in the 1970s but never heard this one. She's 87 now, my mom, Mary Ann. Lyrics made us both laugh, though she felt embarrassed. Wonderful performance.
Loving the drumming on this excellent jazz sound. Very crisp even on an iPhone. Great performance by the group. Grand Canyon is worth seeing. Was there in jan 2006 at the south rim.
So great to see young 'uns being aware of the vast box of cultural sweets prepared by past generations - and instinctively knowing what to pick, with natural savoir-fair... made my day! 😃
No way! I was thinking how incredibly insane the pianist is, which reminded me of my favorite songs from you, Rockaway, and it turns he's the same dude who played Rockaway! What a talented guy, both are fabulous songs
Memories of when this octogenarian was a teen listening to Alan Freed playing original rock and roll music. This little combo here really nailed the Ray Charles sound.
Beth has some crazy good technique on the drums.
She sounds bloody fantastic too!
Came here to say this.
I know! I'm a guy drummer, and it thrills me to no end to see a girl groove like this on drums, with finesse and authority! It's rare!
@@The_Muffin_Man Thanks for the tip! Will do.
Nice little stick twirl at 2:21, too. Wasn't expecting that!
Good god that's a groove. Just spectacular all around.

You're a great muzo as well Carson. Love watching you, Josh and all the collaboration artist.
Damn, the drummer is amazing. Time, dynamics, control and mostly SWING! Damn inspiring.
She does a lot more than drum too. Very talented singer as well.

No one can watch only once.
Masterclass in drumming.
That piano player... WOW!
now that is what i call.... MUSIC!
Every time I listen to it I like it even more
Undisputably the best 4 musicians I've ever seen and heard playing in a garden shed. Outstanding, you should be filling the The Royal Albert Hall
Have you seen Radio Shack by Vulfpeck? That's pretty good too!
The Royal Albert Hall "Garden Shed"? I agree. Fantastic musicianship and Kelly is great behind the camera
@@BarneysBullit Hello Arlon , Thanks for supporting my music and career, seriously . you're appreciated
@@GregN456 Hello Gren , Thanks for listening to my music, seriously you're appreciated
That drummer is exceptionally good.
Anyone who makes drumming like this look easy, is a master of her art.
It is AMAZING how Tight this is.. Especially for a group who just formed
Thank you for supporting my career, seriously you're appreciated
@@joshotisturner8862 You're a poor excuse of a scammer haha
Burning up the keys! Fantastic vocals. Great drumming. Awesome bass playing. Wow.

I’m with you my friend, 70 here as well, circa 1951
@@ben3tiger Hey, we're still on the right side of the grass! 1951 was a great year, indeed.

By the way, to year 1950 was the best! Greetings from Germany. God bless you all.
Beth is, simply, a sensation. Not just the precision. More the presence. She one serious No. 1 talent.
I can't express how much I love this series. It's so good, groovy and relaxing! I can't compare it to anything I know!
Anything with that bass player smiling like that gets a thumbs up. Josh is awesome, of course
The travelogue is so entertaining and Josh and Kelly have such interesting friends. I look forward to each release.
Special like to Beth Goodfellow for the funky drive and... Her "stance change" 🥁
She might be one of the best drummers I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen and played with a LOT of great drummers. All of them are amazing musicians.
Yaaaassss!
The world is full of unknown talent. The unknown is often preferable to the known. Garden sheds rule.
Beth Goodfellow is a drumming great.... just learnt this..
2:41 GODDAMM! That snare roll was CLEAN!
The flow of Beth’s drum sticks over the set is just marvellous! All the music is lovely, and your two travelogues is such a joy to be able to partake in!
Four great musicians who play wonderfully together...the drums have a magic that is difficult to explain. The more I hear it, the more amazing it is.
Drums on fireeee
Can't believe I haven't heard Beth before. She plays the tastiest stuff. Everything else is awesome top shelf. But I mean come on that's awesome grooving.
Check out Madison Cunningham in the Paste Studio in New York. That is where I first met Beth Goodfellow's drumming.
bin beeindruckt; das Schlagzeug ist perfekt
I just knew Beth Goodfellow in Reina's new video ("1970") - what a fantastic drummer!!! (all of you are great, indeed)
This …. is magic.
Aint nothing like the soft touch of a woman's hands on a drum set.... my god! Wow!
You guys should put out an entire album of these recordings!
A whole nother level of awesome American music right there folks. I do believe Ray was smiling down on that one. And Beth nailed it.
Absolutely cool your Music and the drummer, ohh my goodness
I never tire of hearing this version of Mary Ann from Josh and Friends! And I could watch and listen to Beth on drums forever!! Just sayin' it doesn't get much groovier than this! I bet Ray is smiling and rockin' from the grave!!

wow the drummer's restraint is jawdropping
Dude the drumming was amazing. I'm speechless...
Josh is great as always and the bass and piano as well. But the drummer! God damn...
Wow! Quite the drummer queen (pun intended)!
The pocket on that drummer lady is deep ! Sweeeeet
2:20 WAT? That flip to Traditional Grip for a couple bars, and then twirl right back to Matched... O.O Never seen *anything* like that...
Amazing drummer,
The drummer steals the show in this one! Great groove!
Glad to see Marc playing upright bass. I've never seen him not have fun. Totally great rendition of a great tune. They say your friends are a reflection of yourself so Josh should be proud and so should his friends.

Yeah drummer is the unsung hero of this jam. All were fantastic ❤
Drummer playing like it's effortless for her but knocking it out!
Oh my that was absolutely divine (headphones for max effect). My favourite here: the drummer & her tastefully executed grooves
Absolutely love this series and dreading the first Friday without an episode once the series is over.
I absolutely need more out of this specific group of musicians. I've loved the travelogue so far but this performance stands out, despite all of them so far being fantastic. And as a drummer, all these top comments are right; she's a superb drummer.

Wow. You are all very special muso's, but Beth you are amazing on this one. We hope to see more of your work on this channel.
That drummin'!! Sounds amazing!!!!!
How smooth Beth plays, trully impressed.
She listened to Ray Charles in the 1970s but never heard this one. She's 87 now, my mom, Mary Ann. Lyrics made us both laugh, though she felt embarrassed. Wonderful performance.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, coming direct to you from Lawn Mower Shed Studios! Good job.
Love love love the piano work. And the whole ensemble, of course!

Great work by everybody. Elijah Fox's piano playing is especially noteworthy. Thank you.
I think I'm in love with his playing
Damn. Beth straight up shredding on the kit.
Love this!!!... But, the coolest one on camera is .... The drummer!!!
This is gold! Great chops on the drummer
That's wild! Ray would be rockin wit cha!
Josh Turner is a music machine. 🙂
He keeps outdoing himself. And the band. No words
Well done all of you....YOU did RAY proud!!!!!!!
Faith restored

effortlessly crossing genres and styles
Had to come back and watch it again after seeing Beth in Reina's new video. That lady can play!
Y'all didn't melt in the shed, YOU guys melted the shed!
Pure joy. Really good feel to this. I also like how the camera landed on the piano just as he's doing his thing 1:26 👍
The musicianship on the part of all involved is just outstanding, but it's the drums that impress me the most.
Makes me smile. Nuff said.
Today is Ray Charles' birthday so I had to listen to this today. As for the other 4-5 times/week that I listen to this cover, well, I just had to.
What a great drummer.
I’m surprised that little building contained all that talent! And I’ve never heard a better shuffle! Killer groove!
Memories of when this octogenarian was a teen listening to Alan Freed playing original rock and roll music. This little combo here really nailed the Ray Charles sound.
Great video. Mary Ann was INCREDIBLE!!! I was most impressed by the drumming and the piano. And, the sound in that little shed was FANTASTIC!!!
kick-ass drumming!
Excellent drumming on this one.
Amazing!! If James Taylor and Ray Charles had a child 🥰👏👏👏
Great version. Beth Goodfellow is wicked on those drums!
Thanks a lot to you both as well as your friends for so much fun and inspiration! ❤️
