In my experience: As adult you can build the high end PC you always wanted and buy any game you want, but you rarely have the time to play- you pretty much just collect stuff.
Trendy games are avoided in favor of old school cooperative or competitive games where you can invite your group of irl friends that can hardly see anymore, so you play mostly for the company instead of the game itself.
This. My Steam library is huge and growing. But I've played maybe 4 of them for more than 15 minutes..
