Prophetic dualism is an important fact in Jewish and Christian fulfillment. It's not really an either or question, but that of the cyclic nature of events that grow in magnitude... until the end is birthed.

I love you guys' channel. However, another point to be made is that in the middle of the vision, Daniel falls ill, and the angel has to leave him. We don't see the angel come back until chapter 9 to explain the part of the vision in chapter 8. Chapter 9 was an oversight by the interpreting scribes, placing it as its own chapter instead of continuing chapter 8.
Chapter 9 should not have been started until after verse 27, in other words, chapter 10 should actually be chapter 9 and chapter 9 should still be chapter 8. After Daniel falls ill chapter 8 stops, then chapter 9 starts and the angel returns to finish the interpretation from chapter 8, then he gives the 70 weeks prophecy which should have also been given as part of chapter 8.
This is why most people see chapters 8 & 9 as two different prophecies when in fact they are two-time prophecies given within each other. People associate the end of a chapter as its end.

*From the time that Seleucus made himself king over the Syrian portion of Alexander's empire, thus constituting the Syrian horn of the goat, until that country was conquered by the Romans, twenty-six kings ruled in succession over that territory.* - *The eighth of these, in order, was Antiochus Epiphanes.* - *ANTIOCHUS, THEN, WAS SIMPLY ONE OF THE TWENTY-SIX KINGS who constituted the Syrian horn of the goat. He was, for the time being, that horn. Hence, HE COULD NOT BE AT THE SAME TIME A SEPARATE AND INDEPENDENT POWER, OR ANOTHER AND REMARKABLE HORN, AS THE LITTLE HORN WAS.*
*If it were proper to apply the little horn to any one of these twenty-six Syrian kings, it should certainly be applied to the most powerful and illustrious of them all;* -- *BUT ANTIOCHUS EPIPHANES DID NOT BY ANY MEANS SUSTAIN THIS CHARACTER.* - *Although he took the name Epiphanes, that is, The Illustrious, he was illustrious ONLY IN NAME; for nothing, says Prideaux, on the authority of Polybius, Livy, and Diodorus Siculus, could be more alien to his true character; for, on account of his vile and extravagant folly, some thinking him a fool and others a madman, they changed his name of Epiphanes, " The Illustrious," into Epimanes, " The Madman."*
*There are other prophetic criteria identifying "the little horn." The ram "became great;" the he-goat "waxed very great;" but the little horn "BECAME EXCEEDING GREAT." [8:4,8,9] The interpretation given by Gabriel indicated further, that the little horn would appear at "the latter end of their [horn's] kingdom." [**8:23**] ANTIOCHUS EPIPHANES MEETS NONE OF THESE SPECIFICATIONS.*
*In the “East” Antiochus died under obscure and sorry circumstances.* - *Even in “the glorious land” [Palestine], where at first he seemed successful,* - *all his ambitions came to nothing within his lifetime.* - *Antiochus did not conquer Palestine, he inherited it from Antiochus III who had subjected it in 198B.C.*
*All attempts to fit the desecration of the Jewish Temple by Antiochus Epiphanes, into “2300 evenings and mornings” have uniformly failed.* - *The most nearly contemporary account, in Maccabees **1:54**; **4:52**-54, is very precise in stating* - *that Antiochus interrupted the temple services for three years and ten days (from Chislev 15, 168, to Chislev 25, 165), which is far short of 2300 days.*
*All attempts to reduce the 2300 days [evening mornings] to 1150 literal days are likewise faulty.* - *The 2300 “evening morning” cannot refer to the twice daily sacrifices of the Jews, & thus be shortened into only 1150 days, as the sacrifices were NEVER referred to as evening & morning in the Bible.* - *The sacrifices were only ever called morning & evening sacrifices* [Exo 29:38-39].
*The taking away of the daily was to set up the abomination of desolation [Comp. Dan **8:11** with Dan **11:31**; Dan **12:11** margin]. Paul who had been reasoning with the Thessalonians out of the Scriptures about the taking away and the setting up of the man of sin and the mystery of iniquity, taught that this “taking away” to set up the abomination was* - *•FUTURE* of his time* [2 Thess 2:6-8]. - *Thus, those who maintain that Antiochus was the power that took away the daily to set up the abomination of desolation ARE IN OPPOSITION TO THE TEACHINGS OF PAUL who taught that this would take place* - *AFTER his time.*
*The little horn of Daniel 8 has the same characteristics as the dragon of Rev 12...*
*1.)* - *Both said to be "great" [Dan **8:10**; Rev 12:3]*
*2.)* - *Both cast down some of the stars to the ground [Dan **8:10**; Rev 12:4]*
    *3.)* - *Both attacked Jesus [Dan **8:11**, 25; Rev 12:4-5]*
    *4.)* - *Both attacked God's people [Dan **8:24**; Rev 12:13]*
*5.)* - *Both exist at the end of the world [Dan **8:18**, 25; Dan **8:25**; Rev 12:17] As this power literally attempted to kill baby Jesus [Rev 12:4]* - *IT COULD NOT BE ANTIOCHUS EPIPHANES WHO DIED OVER 160 YEARS BEFORE JESUS WAS BORN.*
*Dan.**8:23** says that the little horn spoke a language that the Jews did not understand, or “dark sentences.” Deut **28:49**-50 describe the same power which God brought against his disobedient people as “a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue [language] thou shalt not understand; A nation of fierce coutenance...” Daniel called this power “a king [kingdom] of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences” Dan **8:23**. *However as Antiochus spoke Greek which was very familiar to the Jews, he CANNOT be the little horn. Note also that the power is called a nation in Deut. 28.*
*Verse 17 says,* “for at the time of the end shall be the vision.” K.J.V. Translations are consistent on this rendering: Even the N.I.V & R.S.V. agree with the K.J.V.*
*“the vision concerns the time of the end.”* N.I.V.
*“the vision is for the time of the end.”* R.S.V.
*As the vision concerns events at the time of the end it cannot possibly refer to Antiochus who died over 160 years before Christ was born, so, he CANNOT be the little horn.*
*Verse 9 said that the “little horn” would "PROSPER" [verse 12] and become“EXCEEDING great...”* - *These statements are made relative to the Medo-Persian and Grecian kingdoms.* -
*Medo-Persia was "great" v 4, referring to its power and dominion which lasted centuries.* -
*Greece was “very great” v 8, referring to its power and dominion which also lasted centuries* -
*The little horn was "exceeding great."v 9, likewise referring to its power and dominion.* -
*An escalation of power is seen showing that the little horn would exceed in power the previous kingdoms.* - *However, Antiochus was most certainly NOT GREATER than Medo-Persia or Grecia.* - *Antiochus was king OVER ONLY ONE PART of what was Alexander the Great's empire.* - *This must sink into the recesses of the brain* - *PERSIA was 'great', GREECE was 'very great' and ANTIOCHUS was 'exceeding great.'?* - *Really?* - *Was Antiochus GREATER than •Alexander the Great who conquered the than world?* - *NOT AT ALL* - *His eccentricities earned him the name Antiochus “Epimanes” [“The Mad One”].* - *" Polybius, The Histories, 26.1.* - *Antiochus is styled in rabbinical sources "the wicked."* - *(Jewish Encyclopedia)*
*The little horn would “magnify himself against the Prince of the host,” [Dan **8:11**] and stand up against the “Prince of Princes” [Dan **8:25**].* - *The Prince of the host is Jesus [See Josh **5:14** margin].* - *As Antiochus died over 160 years before Christ was born he cannot be the little horn.*
*Some attempt to spiritualize this but context is against it:*
*Daniel 8:10 -11 concern the little horns literal actions, i.e. "cast down some of the host [Gods people v 24] ...taking away the daily...sanctuary cast down.” Pagan Rome destroyed the temple in 70 AD.* - *As the context refers to literal events it is natural to understand that the standing up against Christ was also a literal event.*
*Peter said,* - *“The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ...both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together”* Acts 4:26. - *Clearly, Rome fulfils the prophecy,* - *NOT ANTIOCHUS.*
*While the dragon of Revelation 12 primarily represents the Devil [Rev 12:9] it also represents an earthly kingdom through which Satan worked to try to kill baby Jesus [Rev 12:4-5].* - *That power was the Roman Empire.* - *Scripture teaches that beasts, like this dragon, represent kingdoms [Read Daniel 7:23].*
*The actions of the real little horn are of sufficient importance and scale to bring about a vast judgment scene in heaven with millions of angels in attendance as described in •Daniel 7:9-14.* - *The actions of Antiochus were not sufficient to bring about such a scene. An evil far greater than Antiochus is clearly described.*

@ericfolks1503 so why do you lie about this whole thing?. if you have the spirit of Prophecy. ?All the spirit of Prophecy is the confession that Jesus Christ is who he is... It's got nothing to do with prophecy.. that's written in the Bible.. So print the last four lines of the( Wycliffe Bible ) of Daniel 9:27! and what is being placed in that place. ?That Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:15 tells you is found in the book of Daniel! the (abomination of desolation)! that is (standing in the holy place in Matthew 2415).. and is found in the book of Daniel. !!!What is standing in that place?. Print the last four lines of the Wycliffe Bible also Daniel 11:31 and Daniel 12:11 (what is being placed in that place.)? What you just said is your false prophet says that's not the truth!!!. And you're believing your false prophet ..claiming you have the spirit of Prophecy.. which is a misinterpretation of the word! Thank you very much, the match between Dan 8 and Dan 11 is very enlightening!
Only one note: I believe Dan 8:23a speaks here about Antiochus IV Epiphanes, as he might be identified as the mentioned transgressor. The "latter time" doesn't have to speak about the succession of kings - look at the time: Antiochus reigned in 175-164 BC, many years after Alexander the Great (d. 323 BC). And the proper Greece fell to Rome in 146 BC, only 18 years after Antiochus' death. There were of course other kings after Antiochus IV Epiphanes in hellenized Syria, sure, but it all lasted until 66 BC, and these last kings had short ruling times. So I'd say Antioch IV Epiphanes nicely matches Dan 8:23a.

*@MrAdik861:* - *Consider the following:* - *Daniel 8:23 said that the little horn spoke a language that the Jews did not understand, or “dark sentences.”* - *Deut. **28:49**-50 describe the same power which God brought against his disobedient people as,* - *“a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; A NATION WHOSE TONGUE [LANGUAGE] THOU SHALT NOT UNDERSTAND; A NATION OF FIERCE COUTENANCE...”* - *Daniel called this power “a king [kingdom] of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences”* Dan 8:23. -- *However as Antiochus spoke Greek which was very familiar to the Jews, he cannot be the little horn.* -- *Note also that the power is called a nation in Deuteronomy 28.*
*And verse 17 says,* - *“for AT THE TIME OF THE END shall be the vision.”* K.J.V. - *Translations are consistent on this rendering:* - *Even the N.I.V & R.S.V. agree with the K.J.V.*
*“the vision concerns the time of the end.”* N.I.V.
*“the vision refers to the time of the end.”* NKJV
*“the vision is for the time of the end.”* R.S.V.
*“for the vision shall be [ful]filled in the time of end.”* WEB
*Even the Douay-Rheims agrees,* - *“in the time of the end the vision shall be fulfilled”*
*Many others versions, and even the DARBY agrees,* - *“or in the time of the end the vision shall be fulfilled.”*
*As the vision concerns events at the time of the end IT CANNOT POSSIBLY REFER TO ANTIOCHUS WHO DIED OVER 160 YEARS BEFORE CHRIST.*
*The little horn took up the “daily.” The term “take away” in Daniel 8:11 is from the Hebrew [H7311] word “rûwm,” which means “take up, exalt, raise up, lift up.” Ref Strong’s Concordance.* - *This is also the way Daniel used this word everywhere else in his book [e.g. “exalt” Hebrew “ rûwm” in Dan **11:36**].* - *Therefore, the little horn raised up, lifted up and exalted the “daily.”* - *Therefore the “daily” cannot possibly be the Jewish daily sacrifices as Antiochus certainly did not raise up, lift up or exalt the Jewish sacrifices,* - *rather he stopped them.* - *Antiochus actions are not therefore the taking away of the daily.*
*Furthermore, the word “sacrifice” is not in the original text,* - *hence the Daily has nothing to do with the sanctuary service.*
*Horns represent kingdoms,* - *NOT JUST INDIVIDUAL KINGS* - *SO KING ANTIOCHUS COULD NOT BE THE LITTLE HORN.*
*The four horns in Daniel 8:22 are said to be* - *“four kingdoms,”* - *therefore the “little horn” which followed them likewise represented a “kingdom.”*
*The fact that Daniel 8:23 says the little horn was a “king,” [H4428 Hebrew, “melek.”],* - *does not prove that the horn was just one king:*
*The four beasts of Daniel 7:17 WERE SAID TO BE FOUR “kings” [H4428 Hebrew, melek].* - *However, in Dan **7:23** the fourth beast is also said to be the fourth “kingdom” [H4437 Hebrew, malkûw].*
*Thus, Daniel uses “melek” [king] as a synonym for “malkûw” [kingdom].* - *With this understanding the prophetic symbol of a horn retains one meaning,* - *it represents a kingdom.* *The horns of the Ram of Daniel 8 are called* - *“kings”, [melek],* - *yet once again melek must here represents the “kingdoms” of Medo-Persia for the following reason:* -
*The Ram existed from the beginning of its conquests [Dan 8:3-4]) till they were broken by Grecia [Dan 8:7].* - *As this period spans the entire existence of the Medo-Persian empire the horns cannot represent just two individual kings.*
*Furthermore,* - *as this little horn arose in the latter time of the four Grecian divisions stood up against Christ* - *and reached into "the time of the end"* - *IT CANNOT REFER TO ONE KING AS NO KING LIVED SO LONG.*
*THUS, BECAUSE ANTIOCHUS WAS ONLY A KING AND NOT A KINGDOM HE CANNOT BE THE LITTLE HORN.*
      *Blessings.*

@@seekertruth3577 I still think he actually did. The fact that Antiochus was only 8th out of 26 or 29 Seleucian kings is not really that relevant, when you count YEARS instead of kings themselves. Antioch IV Epiphanes reigned in the latter half of the existence of the Seleucid kingdom, and shortly before Rome conquered proper Greece in 146 BC. While this was not the Seleucid kingdom itself, proper Greece was still part of the prophecy, as much as Seleucids in Syria, Ptolemies in Egypt etc., plus it was where Greek culture came from (and now it was being taken by another power). I think this is what counts.
Anyway, it's a minor topic, so I don't intend on arguing about it that much 😇

@@MrAdik861: - *Not an argument at all.* - *Respect goes beyond disagreements which is most important.*
(He was, for the time being, part of that horn.) Hence, HE COULD NOT BE AT THE SAME TIME A SEPARATE AND INDEPENDENT POWER, OR ANOTHER AND REMARKABLE HORN, AS THE LITTLE HORN WAS.*
*His partial success in Egypt was transitory, and it is doubtful that he really did grow “exceedingly great toward the south.* - *Antiochus IV’s predecessor, not Antiochus IV himself, subjugated the east with his victorious campaigns of 210-206 B.C. that took him to the frontier of India.* - *Most of the territories involved rebelled and became independent,* - *however, after the Romans defeated him at Magnesia.* - *Antiochus IV attempted to regain some of this territory.* - *After some initial diplomatic and military successes, his forces stalled.* - *He died during these campaigns, apparently from natural causes, in the winter of 164/3 B.C.* - *Antiochus IV did have some initial successes,* - *he did not accomplish nearly as much in this area as his predecessor and this project was left incomplete at Antiochus IV’s death.* - *Thus his partial and incomplete military successes hardly match the prophetic prediction of the little horn* - *“growing exceedingly great” toward the east.*
*Not only was Antiochus IV not the conqueror of Palestine, but defeats of his forces toward the end of his reign in the region eventually led to the complete independence of Judea.* - *While he was campaigning in the east, his Palestinian forces were beaten [1 Macc. **3:57**; **4:29**] in Judea.* - *Toward the end of 164 B.C. the Jews liberated the polluted temple from their hands and rededicated it [1 Macc. **5:52**].* - *Antiochus died in the east shortly thereafter, early in 163 B.C. [1 Macc. **6:15**].*
*The net results of what Antiochus accomplished in those three geographical spheres were insignificant, even and in some cases negative.* - *Thus he hardly fits the specification of this prophecy, which states that the little horn was to grow “exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land.”*
*If it were proper to apply the little horn to any one of these twenty-six Syrian kings, it should certainly be applied to the most powerful and illustrious of them all;* -- *BUT ANTIOCHUS EPIPHANES DID NOT BY ANY MEANS SUSTAIN THIS CHARACTER.*

Although I hold the opinion that in the book of Daniel 8, the chapter does not tell about Antiochus Epiphanes, but in the book of Daniel 11:20 it is hardly told about Caesar Augustus because it is written that he will not last long in power and Caesar Augustus ruled for 40 years. And in the Gospel of Luke, it is not written that he collected taxes.

*The Bible Calendar has a thirty [30] day month.* - *This is easily verifiable by looking at a few computations.* - *In the account of the Great Flood, the scriptures tell us that the downpour began on the 17th day of the second month [the month of Zif as outlined in 1 Kings 6:1,37.* - *In Genesis 7: 24 we learn that the flood waters prevailed over the earth’s surface for 150 days.* - *We are then told that Noah’s ark rested on the mountains of Ararat on the 17th of Ethanim [the seventh month as per 1 kings 8:2].* - *It thus becomes evident that the earth remained flooded for five months [7 - 2 = 5]. Since these five [5] months are equated to 150 days,* - *it therefore becomes obvious that one month is equal to 150 divided by 5, which is 30 days.*
*It is apparent that for a 19-year period the present solar years and also all of the present calendar models are between 99 days and 100 days longer [i.e. 6939-6840] than "the Perfect 19 Years".* - *This discrepancy is an expression of our present realities, and none of the options available to us today can lay claim to representing "a perfect calendar".*
*Biblical archaeology supports 31 AD:* - *”Major earthquake in 31 BC with a Jordan Valley epicentre; 7 magnitude at least and among the largest in 2000 years. Josephus Flavius writes of 30,000 people killed. It damaged Emmaus and Caesarea in particular. The original excavator (De Vaux, 1973) of Qumran interpreted a destruction layer between Periods Ib and 2 which he attributed to an earthquake (in 31 BCE) and a fire which caused the settlement to be abandoned for several decades. De Vaux (1973) also attributed the cracked steps at Qumran to the effects of the Josephus Quake.*
*Geological, Geophysical and Geoscientific Evidence Investigations into earthquake activity around the Dead Sea have occurred at a point which is around 13 miles from Jerusalem. This study took three cores [soil samples] from the beach of the Ein Gedi Spa adjacent to the Dead Sea. The study found an outcrop of laminated Dead Sea sediment at Wadi Ze’elim above the south-western shore of the modern Dead Sea near the fortress of Masada. From research into the deeper layers of the soil, two earthquakes were detected within the layers of annual built-up sediment. In this sediment outcrop was found a distinctive one-foot thick “mixed layer” of sediment that is tied strongly to the Qumran earthquake’s onshore ground ruptures of 31 BC. Thirteen inches above the 31 BC event bed was found another distinctive “mixed layer” less than one inch thick. This confirmed that there had been another earthquake which, from sedimentation rate knowledge, had occurred about 65 years later. [i.e. about 34 AD].*
*Through the direct physical evidence obtained via this thin layer of disturbed sediment from the Dead Sea we now know that there was a 5.5 magnitude earthquake which, together with our Biblical knowledge, we can accurately date as occurring at the time of the death of Jesus in 31 AD."*

[Matthew 3:16-17]*
*Gospel preached by Jesus for 3 ½ years = 27 AD Autumn + 3 ½ years = 31 AD Spring.* - *31 AD Spring - Christ, the true sacrifice, dies for our sins on Calvary [John 13:1].* - *Gospel preached by the Apostles for 3 ½ years = 31 AD Spring + 3 ½ years = 34 AD Autumn.* - *34 AD Autumn = The stoning of Stephen = Jews finally sealed their rejection of the gospel = Gospel taken to everyone [Acts 7:58-59].* - *The above clearly dates the crucifixion time within 31 AD Spring.*

*The only way we can harmonize all of these apparently contradictory statements of Jesus is to understand them in the light of INCLUSIVE RECKONING OF TIME. This was the method used throughout the scripture and we must apply the same method now.*
*Scores of contradictions would appear in both Old and New Testament if this principle were ignored.* - *We must compare Scripture with Scripture and use the idiom of the language in which the Bible was written, and not force our own theories.*
*The Jewish Encyclopaedia states,* - *“A short time in the morning of the seventh day is counted as the seventh day; circumcision takes place on the eighth day, even though, of the first day only a few minutes after the birth of the child, these being counted as one day.”* - *(Vol. 4, p. 475).*

Albert Barnes (1798-1870) Three days and three nights* - ‘It will be seen in the account of the resurrection of Christ that he was in the grave but two nights and a part of three days. See Mat_18:6. *This computation is, however, strictly in accordance with the Jewish mode of reckoning.* If it had “not” been, the Jews would have understood it, and would have charged our Saviour as being a false prophet, for it was well known to them that he had spoken this prophecy, Mat_27:63. Such a charge, however, was never made; and it is plain, therefore, that what was “meant” by the prediction was accomplished. It was a maxim, also, *among the Jews, in computing time, that a part of a day was to be received as the whole.* Many instances of this kind occur in both sacred and profane history. See 2Ch_10:5, 2Ch_10:12; Gen_42:17-18. Compare Est_4:16 with Est_5:1. In the heart of the earth - The Jews used the word “heart” to denote the “interior” of a thing, or to speak of being in a thing. It means, here, to be in the grave or sepulchre.”
*John Wesley’s Explanatory Notes on the Whole Bible Three days and three nights* - *“It was customary with the eastern nations to reckon any part of a natural day of twenty - four hours, for the whole day.* Accordingly they used to say a thing was done after three or seven days, if it was done on the third or seventh day, from that which was last mentioned. *Instances of this may be seen, 1Ki_**20:29**; and in many other places. And as the Hebrews had no word to express a natural day, they used night and day, or day and night for it.* So that to say a thing happened after three days and three nights, was with them the very same, as to say, it happened after three days, or on the third day. See Est_4:16; Est_5:1; Gen_7:4, Gen_7:12; Exo_24:18; Exo_34:28. Jon_2:1.
*The UNREASONABLE INSISTENCE UPON THE USE OF TWENTIETH CENTURY ENGLISH IDIOMS OF SPEECH TO INTERPRET FIRST CENTURY GREEK OR HEBREW HAS LED TO SOME EXTREME VIEWS INDEED.* - *Jesus and His close friends spoke and wrote in harmony with the common literacy usage of the day, and that usage recognized inclusive reckoning of time.* - In simple language, this means that *any part* of a day was counted as a *whole day.*

*The decree which led to this return undoubtedly was given during the winter, probably January or February, in order for them to be ready for a departure in March-April or Nisan, the first month.* - *This locates these three events on the following time scale:* - *1.)* - *The decree of Ezra **7:11**-26 in the winter of 458/457 B.C.,* - *2.)* - *the departure in the spring of 457 B.C.,* - *and 3.)* - *the arrival in the summer of 457 B.C.* - *This was then followed by the fall New Year of 1 Tishri occurs September - October [Gregorian Calendar] of 457 B.C.* - *This completed the Jewish fall-to-fall calendar year from 1 Tishri in September of 458 B.C. to 1 Tishri in September of 457 B.C.* - *This was the 7th year of Artaxerxes according to Jewish reckoning.*
*We learn that Ezra had to deal with certain matters.* - *According to Ezra 9:1 “now when these things were done” i.e.,* - *after the arrival and deposit of the vessels in the temple - some unidentified officials came to Ezra and reported that* - *“the people of Israel and the priests and Levites had not separated themselves from the peoples of the land.”*
*To deal with this difficulty Ezra called for a convocation in Jerusalem* [Ezra 10:6-8]. - *The men of Judah came to that assembly on the twentieth day of the month [Ezra 10:9], or December of 457 B.C.* - *This was after the fall New Year of 1 Tishri that began the eighth year of Artaxerxes, according to Jewish fall-to-fall reckoning.*
*During this rainy and COLD WINTER month of December, the people complained about having to stand out in the rain •[**10:13**],* - *and as a consequence a more detailed investigation was set in motion.* - *The inquiry began its work ten days later, on the first day of the tenth month, and they finished their investigation two months after that, on the first day of the first month, in the spring of 456 B.C.* - *The list of those who had married foreign wives and pledged to put them away is then given the last twenty-six verses of the book of Ezra •[**10:18**-44].* - *From this a calendar can be set up for Ezra’s first major action in Judah.* - *He was apprised of the problem of foreign wives in the fall of 457 B.C., and the problem was resolved by the spring of 456 B.C.* - *All of this occurred within the eighth year of Artaxerxes when viewed from the standard of the Jewish fall-to fall calendar.*
*The historical points ABOVE are correct, and the calculations are correct, starting from the fall New Year immediately after the arrival, fulfilling the conditions of the decree.*
*There is another way of arriving at this final end point.* - *If one counts from the fall-to-fall year of 457-456 B.C., Artaxerxes’ eighth year, one can count directly from the time when Ezra’s word was sent out to rebuild Jerusalem.* - *This is a way, therefore, of counting that same year as the first year of the 2300.* - *The conclusion is the same, that from the fall of A.D.*
*1843 to the fall of 1844 was the 2300th year of Dan **8:14**.* - *One can reach that conclusion indirectly from Artaxerxes’ decree or one can count it directly from the time when Ezra’s word went forth for the rebuilding of Jerusalem.* - *Given the fact that Ezra’s word fulfils the specification of Dan **9:25** more directly, that appears to be the preferable route to follow.*
*To count from whichever decree you choose as the correct one, you must consider that there is no year 0 when crossing from B.C.E. to C.E. [BC to AD].*
*If you have a math problem that requires you to calculate years across B.C. and A.D., it's crucial to adjust for the fact that there was no year 0.* - *For example, if you need to determine how many years it will take between January 1, 457 B.C., and January 1, A.D. 1844.* - *The calculation is 457 + 1844, which equals 2301 years.* - *However, you still have to adjust for the absence of year 0.* - *You remove 1 from your answer, so 2301 minus 1 is 2300.*
*Counting backwards from 457 to year 1, then counting forward from year 2 to 1844 = 2300 years.* - *You cannot count year 1 twice, so you count from year to onward to the year1844.* - *[i.e. 457 + 1843 = 2300 years]*
      457 456 455, ….. 4,3,2, *1* 2, 3,4,5, …. 1841,1842, 1843, 1844 totals to 2300 years.
*Calculating Partial Years is quite complex when computing years across B.C. and A.D.* - *First, change the month of the year into decimal form.* - *If 12 months is 1, then nine months is 0.75 [Example: 1 divided by 12 x 9 = 0.75],* - *six months is 0.5,* - *and three months is 0.25.* - *Say you need to compute what calendar year was 2300 years before [Tishrei also called Etanim] Sept/Oct A.D. 1844.* - *The simplest method is to take the starting point and figure out how much time has elapsed since the starting point, for example, [Nisan also called Tishri] March/Apr B.C.* - *In other words, October in the year 1844 was 1,663.75 [Example 1844 - 0.83 = 1843,17] in the year Sept/Oct 22 A.D.* - *Now calculate 1843,17 minus 2300 = -457. This means 2300 years before October A.D. 1844 was March/April 457 B.C.*
      *[0,25 = first quarter; Two quarters or six months = 0,5; three quarters or 9 months = 0,75; 10 months = 0,83 and obviously, four quarters or 12 months = 1 year].*
*Trusting that the above will be helpful during your studies.*

Brothers, in your interpretation of Daniel 8:11, yous argues that the phrase “his sanctuary” refers to the heavenly sanctuary where Christ is now the high priest, and therefore could not be related to Antiochus Epiphanes, since Christ had not yet assumed his priestly role in heaven at that time. Here are five common issues with this interpretation:
1: Historical Context and Language of "Sanctuary": The word used for “sanctuary” in Daniel 8:11 is the Hebrew term miqdash, which usually refers to a physical temple, like the earthly sanctuary in Jerusalem. Since the Book of Daniel speaks of both earthly and symbolic kingdoms, it is reasonable to interpret “sanctuary” as the Jerusalem temple, which was indeed desecrated by Antiochus.
2: Contextual Interpretation of "Daily Sacrifice": The phrase "daily sacrifice" (Hebrew: tamid) is associated with the continual offerings in the Jerusalem temple rather than any future heavenly service. The removal of the "daily sacrifice" was historically fulfilled by Antiochus, who stopped temple sacrifices in Jerusalem, aligning with Daniel’s vision of disruption to the physical temple rather than the heavenly sanctuary.
3: Chronological Mismatch with the Prophecy: The vision in Daniel 8 refers to the “latter part of their reign” (Daniel 8:23), pointing to events closer to the Hellenistic period. Antiochus ruled in the second century BCE, which fits the timeline. To apply this prophecy to Christ’s heavenly ministry, one must stretch the historical timeline significantly, which many scholars argue is inconsistent with the prophecy’s context.
4: Lack of Direct Mention of a Heavenly Sanctuary: Nowhere in Daniel 8 does it explicitly state that the sanctuary in question is a heavenly one. Reading it as a reference to the heavenly sanctuary relies heavily on later interpretations, not on the immediate text of Daniel 8. This can lead to a forced connection rather than a natural reading of the prophecy.

Regarding point 1, miqdash appears interchangeable with qodesh as used in verses 13 and 14, since the question being asked and answered relates to the events of verse 10-12. In 13 and 14, qodesh is in the Greek LXX "hagion," the word used BOTH for the earthly AND the heavenly Sanctuary. For example:
Hebrews 8:2 KJV - A minister of the SANCTUARY (G39: hagion) and of the true tabernacle, which THE LORD PITCHED, AND NOT MAN.
So I wouldn't limit miqdash to strictly the earthly Sanctuary when that's not necessarily the case.
I may come back to the rest next time.

      1. Linguistic and Contextual Distinction between "Miqdash" and "Qodesh"
While it is true that both miqdash and qodesh can refer to “sanctuary” or “holy place,” they are not interchangeable in all contexts. Miqdash typically emphasizes a physical structure or designated holy place (often the Jerusalem temple), whereas qodesh is more abstract, indicating "holiness" or "sacredness." Even if hagion (Greek equivalent for qodesh) can refer to both earthly and heavenly realms, that does not necessitate that miqdash in Daniel 8 refers to the heavenly sanctuary.
1: Why does Daniel, who consistently describes earthly kingdoms in previous visions, suddenly switch to a heavenly interpretation here without clear textual indicators?
2: Can you cite any instance in the Old Testament where miqdash specifically refers to a heavenly sanctuary rather than a physical one?
3: If Daniel’s language had heavenly implications, why didn’t he use additional context to clarify this, as would be expected in a vision book meant for interpretation?

      @@jeffryandrew2935 My responses in between:
// While it is true that both miqdash and qodesh can refer to “sanctuary” or “holy place,” they are not interchangeable in all contexts. Miqdash typically emphasizes a physical structure or designated holy place (often the Jerusalem temple), whereas qodesh is more abstract, indicating "holiness" or "sacredness." //
The qodesh in verse 13 directly relates to the miqdash of verse 11 because contextually the question in verse 13 is asking how long the miqdash of verse 11 will be cast or trodden down. The person in verse 13 should have asked, How long the miqdash to be trodden down? But he didn't. He understood miqdash and qodesh to be interchangeable.
// Even if hagion (Greek equivalent for qodesh) can refer to both earthly and heavenly realms, that does not necessitate that miqdash in Daniel 8 refers to the heavenly sanctuary //
It doesn't necessitate, but it opens up the possibility that it could, since its Greek equivalent (hagion) is used for the heavenly Sanctuary also (see Heb. 8:2).
// 1: Why does Daniel, who consistently describes earthly kingdoms in previous visions, suddenly switch to a heavenly interpretation here without clear textual indicators? //
Because he does indicate that the events switch from horizontal to vertical from verse 10:
[Dan 8:10 KJV] 10 And it waxed great, [even] to the HOST OF HEAVEN; and it cast down [some] of THE HOST and of the STARS to the ground, and stamped upon them.
Therefore the attack of the little horn also attack the heavenly realm.
// 2: Can you cite any instance in the Old Testament where miqdash specifically refers to a heavenly sanctuary rather than a physical one? //
As far as I have briefly seen, miqdash by itself typically refers to the earthly tabernacle. But what difference would that even make? We already established that miqdash's equivalent "hagion" can refer to the heavenly Sanctuary. Your argument only works when you isolate miqdash, and not consider its equivalent Greek word which the Greek-speaking Jews used to translate the Hebrew to Greek.
Also, qodesh, as used in verse 14, which is, after all, the one verse that should always refer to the earthly Sanctuary to make Antiochus the little horn, actually can be used for the heavenly Sanctuary in Hebrew. See its use in this text for example:
[Psa 102:19 KJV] 19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary (qodesh); FROM HEAVEN did the LORD behold the earth.
// 3: If Daniel’s language had heavenly implications, why didn’t he use additional context to clarify this, as would be expected in a vision book meant for interpretation? //
I already answered this in question one. Daniel does, indeed, indicate the vision transitions from an earthly attack to a heavenly attack:
[Dan 8:10 KJV] 10 And it waxed great, [even] to the host of heaven; and it cast down [some] of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
Antiochus did not do this. But the Papacy replaced the heavenly Sanctuary with an earthly ministration, replaced God with himself, and sought to replace the law of God, particularly the fourth commandment, from God's law to laws of his own making.
Are you using Ai to help you?

@AdventDefenseLeague Bro, you keep quoting Daniel 8:10, to prove your point of the heavenly sanctuary.... In this verse, the "heavenly host" and "stars" represent God's people, especially the Israelites. In verse 9, it talks about the little horn growing even to the "glorious land," which is referring to Israel. Then in verse 10, it’s talking about the people this little horn is attacking... the Jews. You can see that even in Genesis 15:5 and Deuteronomy 1:10, it’s clear that the stars symbolize the descendants of Israel - God’s people. In Daniel 12:3, it says the wise will shine like stars, symbolizing the righteous, often understood to be Israel. Even in Revelation 12:1 and 12:4, it calls the Israelites "stars."
And bro, even scholars like John H. Walton (he has a PhD in OT) agree that the "heavenly host" in Daniel 8 is talking about God’s people, especially the faithful Jews being persecuted by Antiochus IV. Another scholar, Brevard S. Childs (also a PhD in OT), says the "stars" symbolize the Jewish people suffering under oppression. So, don’t just skip over these interpretations, bro.
Now, let’s look at facts about Antiochus IV that you maybe ignore.... You’re simply ignoring history when you say he didn’t fulfill Daniel 8:10, but check this out, bro. Antiochus IV absolutely fits the actions in Daniel 8:10:
The Small Horn Grows Very Great (Daniel 8:9, 10)
Time Period: Antiochus ruled from 175 BC to 164 BC.
He started as a lesser-known ruler but grew really powerful, taking over more of the Seleucid Empire and becoming feared.
It Reached the Host of Heaven (Daniel 8:10)
Time Period: His control over Jerusalem started in 167 BC.
Antiochus extended his power to Jerusalem and took control of the Jewish temple, messing directly with the lives of the Jewish people. These people are the "host of heaven" in the prophecy.
It Trampled on the Stars of Heaven (Daniel 8:10)
Time Period: His persecution of the Jewish people began in 167 BC.
Antiochus trampled on the Jews by:
Outlawing key Jewish practices like circumcision and Sabbath observance.
Desecrating the temple in 167 BC by setting up an altar to Zeus inside it (this is the "Abomination of Desolation").
Killing Jews and forcing others to abandon their faith.
      Persecution of God's People (Israel)
Time Period: From 167 BC to 164 BC, the persecution continued.
Antiochus brutally punished Jews who refused to give up their faith, killing many and forcing others to abandon the Torah.
      Blasphemy and Sacrilege (Daniel 8:11)
Time Period: His blasphemous actions were strongest from 167 BC to 164 BC.
Antiochus declared himself as a god (he called himself Epiphanes, which means "God Manifest"). He desecrated the temple by offering sacrifices to pagan gods, replacing the worship of the true God with pagan rituals.
So yeah, bro, Antiochus IV totally fits Daniel 8:10. Don't just ignore these historical facts....
Speaking of AI...Did you use Hebrew dictionaries to help you??? Did you use internet to do your researches, books or scholarly views for research purposes??? The two passages are talking about two different events. The one in Matthew occurred when Jesus rose from the dead. The one referred to in 2 Timothy is talking about the general resurrection that will occur when Jesus returns in the future. Some false teachers were saying that the general resurrection had already happened, leading some to fear that they missed it. We don't know much more than this about these false teachers. It isn't anything to worry about.

*The origins of the word “Antichrist,” is from the Greek word “än-te'-khre-stos,” the word “Vicar,” is an English word; but the two are in reality one, for both words have the same meaning. Antichristos translated into English is Vice-Christ, or Vicar of Christ; and Vicar of Christ, rendered into the Greek is Antichrist -Antichristos.*
*The question to ask is: Who styled themselves the Vicar or Vicar of Christ?*
*"Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.", SHOWING HIMSELF THAT HE IS GOD."* [2 Thess. 2:3,4].*
*Paul reveals in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4* - *"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a •FALLING AWAY FIRST, and that •MAN OF SIN be revealed, the •SON OF PERDITION; WHO OPPOSETH AND EXALTETH HIMSELF ABOVE ALL THAT IS CALLED GOD, or that is worshipped; so that he as God •SITTETH IN THE TEMPLE of God, •SHOWING HIMSELF THAT HE IS GOD."*
*NOW WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SIT IN THE TEMPLE OF GOD, SHOWING HIMSELF TO BE LIKE GOD?* - *We know from Hebrews 8:4-5 and Hebrews 9:24 that the earthly temple [tabernacle], which God instructed Moses to make in the Old Testament was a COPY of the original temple in heaven where Jehovah resides.* - *So, let's find out from the temple sanctuary that Moses made what God's throne is like.*
Exodus 25:17-19 ..."And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And thou shalt make *TWO CHERUBIMS OF GOLD,* of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof."
*This is the description of the articles in the most holy place of the sanctuary.* - *We have the mercy seat, which represents the throne of God. AND ON EITHER SIDE OF GOD'S THRONE ARE TWO GOLDEN CHERUBIM. And remember, this is a COPY of the actual throne of God in heaven. So, in heaven, God has two living cherubim either side of His throne. And Ezekiel 28:12-17 confirms that Lucifer [Satan] used to be one of those "COVERING CHERUBS".*
Psalm 99:1 *"The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: HE SITTETH BETWEEN THE CHERUBIMS; let the earth be moved."*
Revelation 20:11 *"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them."*
    *What is the "temple" today?*
Acts 7:48 *"Howbeit the most High DWELLETH NOT IN TEMPLES made with hands; as saith the prophet."*
1 Corinthians 3:16 *"Know ye not that YE ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"*
2 Corinthians 6:16 *"And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."*
1 Peter 2:5 *"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."*
*This simple truth is overlooked by so many today.* - *When we look for that man of sin, we should not be looking for someone to be sitting in a rebuilt temple in Israel neither from Islam.* *No,* - *the temple of God today, as Paul and Peter confirmed, is •THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.* - *So, the man of sin we are looking for is someone SITTING IN THE "PROFESSED" CHRISTIAN CHURCH, showing himself that he is "like God" and exalting himself to a position where he should not be.*
*Let's further strengthen this point.* - *In 2 Thessalonians 2:3, Paul talks about the falling away that would happen within the church and the "man of sin" who would be revealed.* - *Now look at what Paul called that "man of sin". He calls him the "son of perdition".* - *Did you know that there is only one other person in the Bible called by that name ... "son of perdition"?* - *Turn to John 17:12 and you will see that Jesus is calling JUDAS that "son of perdition".* - *So what do we learn from this?* - *We learn that the man of sin would be someone like Judas, who would deceive from WITHIN the church.*
*Let's clarify this even more from the Bible. In 1 John 2:18-19, John quotes that the "many antichrists" in his day were not people who were openly opposed to Christ Jesus.* - *No,* - *he confirms that they "WENT OUT FROM US".* - *Meaning that they were people within the Christian church.*
*There is no doubt that the antichrist will be found WITHIN the professing Church.*
*Today in which church do you find the head of the church sitting on a "great white throne",* - *BETWEEN TWO GOLDEN CHERUBIM, being called HOLY FATHER, which is reserved for God alone.* - *Just take that in for a moment.* - *To sit on a white throne in between two cherubim just like God in heaven, is basically saying "I am god on earth."* - *Who else is putting himself in place of God on earth and exalting themselves to a position where they should never be.* - *It is utter blasphemy and the very definition of "antichrist."*

*@Pacmanflatts23:* - *I respect your interpretation of the prophetic timeline and I hope you respect mine too.*
*As far back as 1205, an anonymous Joachimite work interpreted the number 2300 as 23 centuries from Daniel's time. Later Villanova recognized the 2300 days as years by the year-day principle.* *Then in 1440, Roman Catholic theologian Nicholas Krebs of Cusa (Conjectures of Cardinal Nicholas von Cusa Concerning the Last Days), recognized the 2300 prophetic "days" as years, which he even then dated from Persia. This is one of his remarkable declarations:*
*In the same way it was opened up to Daniel in what way the last curse would be after the sanctuary shall be cleansed and the vision fulfilled; and this after 2300 days from the hour of the going forth of the word . . . *according to the predicted number by resolving a day into a year, according to the unfolding made to Ezekiel [4:5, 6].* - *(Translated from Coniectura in Opera, p. 934).*
*Gleason Leonard Archer, Jr. educated at Harvard University American biblical scholar, theologian, educator and author writes,* - *"If, then, the decree of 457 granted to Ezra himself is taken as the ... commencement of the ... 483 years, we come out to the precise year of the appearance of Jesus of Nazareth as Messiah (or Christ): 483 minus 457 comes out to A.D. 26. But since a year is gained in passing from 1 B.C. to A.D. 1 (there being no such year as zero), it actually comes out to A.D. 27…most remarkable exactitude in the fulfillment of such an ancient prophecy. Only God could have predicted the coming of His Son with such amazing precision; it defies all rationalistic explanation.”* - *(Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties; Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 1982, Pages 290,291).*
*Newton, like many historicist prophetic commentators of his age, believed that the prophetic time periods 1260, 1290, 1335 and 2300 days actually represent 1260, 1290, 1335 and 2300 years using the “day-for-a-year principle”.*
*The fundamental reason why futurist and preterist scholars refuse to translate shâbûwaʻ [H7620] in Daniel 9 as ‘weeks’ is because they would then have to admit, in order to be consistent, that the year/day principle must be applied to other prophetic time periods as well.* - *FURTHERMORE, IF THEY APPLIED THE YEAR/DAY PRINCIPLE TO THE 70 WEEKS, THEY WOULD HAVE TO APPLY IT TO THE 2300 DAYS [OF WHICH THE 70 WEEKS CONSTITUTE THE FIRST PART] AND THIS WOULD FORCE THEM TO ADMIT THAT PROPHECY WAS FULFILLED IN 1844.*
*The vision of Daniel 8:1-2 covers the whole period of the ram, the he-goat and the little horn until the cleansing of the sanctuary.* In Daniel 8:13 the question is asked: *‘Until when shall the VISION be?* - *The context indicates that the word vision includes the totality of what Daniel has seen in Daniel 8 to that point. Then, in Daniel 8:15 we are told that Daniel wished to comprehend the vision.* The question is: Which vision? The answer is simple: *IT MUST BE THE TOTALITY OF THE VISION OF DANIEL 8 BECAUSE WHEN THE ANGEL GABRIEL COMES TO EXPLAIN THE VISION IN ANSWER TO DANIEL’S REQUEST, HE BEGINS WITH PERSIA AND THEN CONTINUES WITH GREECE, THE LITTLE HORN, AND CULMINATES WITH THE CONCLUSION OF THE 2300 DAYS WHEN THE SANCTUARY IS TO BE CLEANSED.*
*Thus, it is clear that the 2300 days which cover the whole vision of Daniel 8 must involve CENTURIES and NOT LITERAL DAYS, [that is, six and one half literal years]. Incidentally, this explains the reason why Daniel 8 begins with Persia and not with Babylon.* - *The 2300 days begin when Persia gives the decree to restore and build Jerusalem and that is why the vision begins with Persia. Thus, Daniel 8 and 9 must be connected in order to comprehend the 2300-day prophecy.*
      *Notice the following illustration:* - *Vision = Ram + He-goat + Pagan Rome + Papal Rome + Judgment. How long? 2300 days/Years*
*Many contemporary advocates of the futurist interpretation do not acknowledge the indebtedness of this theory to the Futurism of the RCC Counter-Reformation.* - *But even so such individuals should at least recognize that "these futurist proposals rest essentially on a misunderstanding of the thought patterns of Hebrew prophecy," and that "they represent a reading of the Hebrew idiom through Western eyeglasses.*
*Incidentally, the Septuagint translates the Hebrew shâbûwaʻ with the Greek word hebdomos [G1442]. This word is consistently translated “week”.*
*The prophecy is given in the context of three main prophecies in three different chapters in the book of Daniel-Daniel 2, 7, and 8.* - *They all speak of the rise and fall of great world empires, which would ultimately end with the establishment of God’s kingdom at the second coming of Jesus.*
*“It is a matter for deep regret that those who hold and advocate the Futurist system at the present day, Protestants as they are for the most part, are thus really playing into the hands of Rome, and helping to screen the Papacy from detection as the Antichrist. It has been well said that 'Futurism tends to obliterate the brand put by the Holy Spirit upon Popery.' More especially is this to be deplored at a time when the Papal Antichrist seems to be making an expiring effort to regain his former hold on men's minds.”* - *(Daniel and the Revelation: The Chart of Prophecy and Our Place In It, A Study of the Historical and Futurist Interpretation, by Joseph Tanner, published in London by Hodder and Stoughton, 1898, pages 16, 17.)*
*Francisco Ribera wrote fictional prophecy with the sole purpose of taking the attention off the Papal Church after they had been identified as antichrist with the Protestant reformation.* - *Ribera chose the 70 weeks of Daniel prophecy as his choice of scripture to distort and deceive.* - *The following is how the 70th week of Daniel was abused.*
*The purpose was to place antichrist in the future or the past. The real truth of antichrist is that it is not merely a single individual but was a system of apostasy and persecution that would rule for more than twelve centuries.* - *Those who studied these Bible prophecies before and during the Protestant Reformation, came to the inevitable conclusion that there was only one entity that fits all the characteristics:* - *the Papal dynasty of the Roman Catholic Church. Is it any wonder this Church was so violently opposed to the scriptures being available for everyone to read for themselves?* *There was a stir created during the reformation that the Fifth Lateran Council [1512-17 A.D.] resorted to strictly forbidding anyone to publish a book without prior censorship, and also prohibited anyone from preaching on the subject of antichrist.* - *The purpose of Preterism and Futurism was to be diversionary and offset the Protestant Historicism interpretation with alternatives no matter how implausible they might be.*

There are many scriptures that explain the day for year principle. I suggest studying Daniel 9's 70 week prophecy.
However here is a simple example from Jesus Himself:
Luk 13:32 KJV And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
Here Jesus prophesied that His ministry would last 3 days - He meant three years.

*Artaxerxes:* Nehemiah 1 445 B.C. Gave permission to Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

“In what sense then can it be said that ‘the heavenly things’ needed cleansing? The necessity for the purification of the earthly sanctuary and its vessels came from the fact that they were to be used by man and shared in his impurity (comp. Lev. xvi. 16). Agreeably with this view it may be said that even ‘HEAVENLY things,’ so far as they embody the conditions of man’s future life, contracted by the Fall something which REQUIRED CLEANSING (comp. 1 Tim. iv. 4f ). The Bible says 2300 "evenings and mornings" so that means 2300 literal days, not years
Antiochus is not The Little Horn. He is a "type and shadow" of the little horn, or Antichrist.
The Popes and Papal system is also not the little horn.
The Angel explained to Daniel that The Little Horn will appear during the latter part of the last kingdom. The last kingdom is not during 1844.
The question in Daniel 8 states "how long", specifically regarding the little horn, will this time of taking away the daily sacrifices be? That did not start before Jesus, therefore the 2300 days did not start before Jesus either.
The 2300 days are the final 6 to 7 years prior to the reaping of the harvest, when the Angels gather the vines and throw them into the winepress of the wrath of God. That is the cleansing of the Sanctuary

It is not 2300 literal days. 2300 evenings and mornings are referring to the sacrifices. And since sacrifices were offered twice every day according to the Law, you have to cut that number in half. It is more like 1150 days. And yes, the papacy IS the little horn because it helped Justinian overthrow the pagans that previously ruled Rome.

Luk 13:32 KJV And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
Here is an example of the day for a year principle first expressed in Numbers 14:34
Study Daniel 9, which helps to clarify Daniel 8. Clearly the 70 weeks/ 490 days here (beginning in 457 bc) must mean 490 years, because it spans to the time of the Messiah.
Well the angel says the 70 weeks were determined (meaning 'cut off' from the 2300 days) for the jews. If the 70 weeks/490 days = 490 years then necessarily the 2300 days = 2300 years.

This can be seen most clearly in the Oxford Tractarian Movement of the Anglican Church in England.* - *In the nineteenth century in Britain, the Futurist concept was again revived, by Samuel Maitland, James Todd, William Burgh, John Darby of the Plymouth Brethren, and the renowned John Henry Newman.* - (Quoted in Froom, PFF, volume 2, p. 502)
*Notice the following statements from the pen of William Burgh:* - *“First that ‘THE MAN OF SIN’ is not popery appears from the necessity that this chapter be understood of an individual, and not of a power or office vested in numbers or held by succession.”* - *William Burgh, Lectures on the Second Advent [second edition], p. 63.*
*“I would say that an individual is intended-one person whose pretensions live and die with himself….[don’t forget these words which will later be picked up almost verbatim by Dave Hunt]. - *William Burgh, Lectures on the Second Advent [second edition], pp. 64, 65.*
*“Secondly, the nature of these same acts and pretensions prove that the ‘man of sin’ is not the Pope.”* - *William Burgh, Lectures on the Second Advent [second edition], p. 65.*
*James H. Todd was likewise categorical in his denial that the papacy was the Antichrist.* - *His lectures for 1838 were later published under the title, Discourses on the Prophecies Relating to Antichrist in the Writings of Daniel and St. Paul. Notably, the book was dedicated to Samuel Maitland.*
*The basic tenets of Todd’s concept were:*
*i.)* - *Antichrist is an individual who will appear at the end of the world just before the Second Coming of Christ.*
*ii.)* - *The evil deeds of the Antichrist have to do with the Jews rather than the Gentiles.* - *In fact, the Antichrist will sit in a rebuilt Jerusalem Temple.*
*iii.)* - *Antichrist will rule for a period of 1260 literal DAYS.*
*iv.)* - *The fourth kingdom of Daniel 7 was not the Roman Empire and therefore the ten horns were not fulfilled in the Roman Empire. The fourth kingdom will be established upon the earth at some future period.* - Froom, PFF, volume 3, p. 661.
*Todd went so far as to say that,* - *“Romanism [is] not properly an apostasy from the faith.”* - *He further stated that,* - *“…the errors of Romanism do not amount to Apostasy.”* - *Even more astounding is his declaration that,* - *“The Church of Rome [is] a true Christian Church.”* - (James H. Todd, Discourses on the Prophecies Relating to Antichrist in the Writings of Daniel and St. Paul, pp. xv, 259-267, 320-321, 322-323).
*Prominent Protestants in the Church of England were now employing the futuristic and literalistic hermeneutic they had acquired from the Society of Jesus.* - *No wonder they could no longer detect the papacy as the predicted Antichrist of Bible prophecy.*
*The concepts of Todd and Burgh were foundational to what came to be known as the Oxford Tractarian Movement.* - *In a nutshell, this movement in the Church of England lasted from 1833-1845. [Don’t let these dates pass you by. During this identical time frame on the other side of the Atlantic, the Millerite Movement was going full steam ahead].*
*During this period a series of ninety Tracts for the Times was prepared with the express purpose of “deprotestantizing” the Church of England.* - *The principal writers were Newman, Pusey, Keble, Froude and Williams.* - *These men seized upon the writings of Maitland, Burgh, and Todd to exonerate the papacy from the stigma of being called the Antichrist.* - *Protestants were openly encouraged to return to the Roman Catholic communion and to accept the Bishop of Rome as the legitimate leader of the Christian world.*
*The movement toward Rome was driven by the literalistic prophetic principles of futurism.* - *If the Papacy was not the predicted Antichrist of prophecy, then there was no reason for Protestants not to reunite with Rome.*
*Thus, the counterfeit hermeneutic of literalistic futurism resulted in an ecumenical spirit [as will happen at the end as well].* - *The historicist hermeneutic had given Protestantism its impetus and the courage to separate from Rome.* - *But futurism now stalled the progress of Protestantism and led it to seek a reunion with Rome.*
*The climax of the Oxford movement came when John Henry Newman (1801-1890) defected from the Church of England and joined the Roman Catholic Church.* - *Newman had been one of the prime supporters of this movement.* - *In fact, he personally composed twenty nine of the ninety tracts.* - *Though he had previously spoken harsh words against the papacy, in 1843 he “published a retraction of all the hard sayings he had formerly said against Rome. In 1845 he was received into the Roman communion, leaving Oxford for Rome where, in 1846, he was ordained a priest and later given a Doctor of Divinity degree by the pope.* - *In 1847 he returned to England, where he continued to reside.* - *In 1854 Newman was called to Dublin as rector of the newly established Catholic University, and in 1879 he was given the cardinal’s hat.”* - Froom, PFF, volume 3, pp. 666-667.
*Before we continue futurism’s “incredible journey” into Protestantism,* - *we need to pause and take a look at the work of another Jesuit priest, Manuel de Lacunza y Diaz (1731-1801).* - *David Pio Gullon has done a comprehensive study of the Lacunza’s eschatology as found in his monumental work, La Venida del Mesias en Gloria y Magestad (The Coming of the Messiah in Glory and Majesty)* - *At this juncture we will review some of Gullon’s conclusions about Lacunza’s work.”* - *(David Pio Gullon, “Lacunza’s Impact on Prophetic Studies and Modern Futurism,” Journal of the Adventist Theological Society 9/1-2 (1998), pp. 71-95)*
*Lacunza was a Jesuit at heart and an avid student of prophecy so it can hardly be doubted that he was acquainted with the writings of Ribera.( - (In fact, like Ribera, he was an avowed futurist and loyal Roman Catholic.* - *Lacunza’s futuristic eschatology included the following:*
*i)* - *The fulfillment of Revelation 4-22 is still future.*
*ii)* - *The three and one half times of Antichrist’s dominion are literal.*
*iii)* = *The 144,000 will be literal Jews.*
*iv)* - *Literal Israel will be re-gathered and converted during the great tribulation which will take place immediately before the Second Coming. God will then literally fulfill all his covenant promises to the literal nation of Israel.*
*v.)* - *The millennium will be a period of peace on earth where people will live in their mortal bodies.*
*vi.)* - *During the millennium the literal sacrificial system will be re-established in the literal Jerusalem Temple.*
*It is obvious that contemporary Protestant expositors of Bible prophecy have borrowed extensively from Lacunza.* - *And it is a sobering fact that many of the views on prophecy which are presently being taught by conservative Protestants have been borrowed from a Roman Catholic Jesuit priest.*
*Lacunza, however, departed from the run of the mill futurists of his day by saying that:*
*i)* - *The coming of Christ will precede the millennium [Ribera and others were Amillennialists].*
*ii)* - *The final Antichrist will not be a single individual but an apostate system which will arise at the end of the age.* - *In Lacunza’s own words:*
*“If we expect to see accomplished in one man all that is said of the beast, with all that is announced to us in so many other parts of Scripture; it is much to be feared, that, all which is written will take place, and such an Antichrist not appearing, we shall be looking for him when he is already in the house. Likewise it is to be feared, that this idea which we have formed of Antichrist may prove the chief cause of the very carelessness in which men shall be found *WHEN THE DAY OF THE LORD ARRIVES.”* - *(Juan Josafat Ben-Ezra [pseudonym], The Coming of Messiah in Glory and Majesty (Dublin: Wm. Curry Jun., & Co., 1833), pp. 10-11)*
*To make a long story short, Lacunza’s work found its way to England around the same time as Burgh, Todd, Maitland, and Newman were expounding their futuristic views. And in a rather strange and unexpected twist of historical providence, his work was translated into English by Edward Irving. In fact, Irving’s translation of Lacunza’s work was first published in 1833, the very year the Oxford Tractarian movement got under way.* - *(See Duncan McDougall, The Rapture of the Saints (Blackwood, New Jersey: O. F. P. M. Publishers, 1970), p. 30)*
*We see, then, that Protestantism in Great Britain was bombarded with literalistic futurism from both sides of the Atlantic.* - *On the one side [in Europe] there was Ribera and on the other [in Chile] there was Lacunza.*

*@ConfusedBeach-fw2cc:* - *Many are not aware of the magnitude of the error of modern dispensationalism. Nor do they realize how widespread is the influence of the Scofield Reference Bible.*
*Dispensationalists detach the last seven years from the 490 [which makes it 483] and cast the 7 years right into the unknown future.* - *They erroneously subtract from the prophecy which makes the prophetic time completely meaningless.* - *It is illogical to insert a 2,000-year gap between the 69th and 70th weeks of Daniel's prophecy.* *No hint of a gap is found in the prophecy itself.* - *There is no gap between the first seven weeks and the following sixty-two weeks,* - *so why insert one between the 69th and 70th weeks?*
*If you tell a supplier to deliver goods to you in 70 minutes, you obviously will mean 70 consecutive minutes.* - *What if ten hours later the supplier said, “Joe, I know 69 minutes have passed, but the 70th minute hasn't started yet!”?* - *To be honest,* - *what would you think of your supplier?*
*Phil Mauro gave up this system for many years. He emphasizes, “Never has a specific number of time-units, making up a described stretch of time, been taken to mean anything but continuous or consecutive time-units”* -( Seventy Weeks and the Great Tribulation).
*When the dispensational futurist seven-year theory is disproved, the entire system falls apart and scattered like broken glass falling on a concrete slab because the theory is Biblically unsound and simply failed by their own admission because the Book of Revelation is simply an expansion of Daniel’s prophecy within the chronological framework as outlined by the very same seventieth week-prophecy of Daniel.*
The dispensationalist theological system places the majority of the Book of Daniel and Revelation within the seven years and presents a prophecy that is divided between Christ and the anti-Christ in relation to the Jewish nation. *They teach that 69 weeks have met fulfilment in the first advent of Christ, and the 70th week meet its fulfilment in the future anti-Christ.*
*This future seven-year period is entwined in the Secret Rapture Theory, also known as the Pretribulation Secret Rapture, which was developed during the Catholic Council of Trent that began in 1545. The Council needed a defence against the stigma being placed on the Catholic Church by the Protestant Reformation.* - *Thus Francisco Ribera’s “gap theory” pushed the 70th week into the distant future. Thus, an attempt was made to remove the stigma placed on the Roman Church by the Reformers.* - *The Council now said that the prophecy could not apply to the Catholic Church because the application was still in the “future.”*
*Ribera's “Gap Theory” separates the 70-week prophecy of Daniel 9:26, 27 into two sections. He separated the 70th week [v27] from the preceding 69 weeks; a strange manipulation of Scripture.* In reality, the 69 weeks ended with events surrounding the first coming of Christ. What about the 70th week? *Logically and exegetically the 70th week would naturally follow the 69th week.*
*The main tenets of Ribera’s eschatology are,* - *“ascribed to a literal three and a half years reign of an infidel Antichrist, who would bitterly oppose and blaspheme the saints just before the second advent. He taught that Antichrist would be a single individual, who would rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, abolish the Christian religion, deny Christ, be received by the Jews, pretend to be God, and conquer the world - and all in this brief space of three and one-half years.*
*Ribera's life was cut short when he died at the early age of 54.* - *Ribera’s views therefore needed a shrewd and articulate champion to carry his message beyond the realm of academia.* - *The champion was found, and his name was Cardinal Robert Bellarmine (1542-1621).*
*Bellarmine picked up where Ribera left off. *In fact, Bellarmine made it his life mission to spread the literalistic hermeneutic of futurism with unabated passion.* - *Bellarmine’s prophetic views were identical to Ribera’s, he fine-tuned and amplified many of the details.* - *And he crusaded in favor of the literalistic futurist view and against the Protestants with an evangelistic zeal worthy of admiration. Bellarmine was an expert at turning the Reformers against themselves.* - *Bellarmine also took painstaking efforts to document the fact that the Reformers could not even agree among themselves as to when the prophetic periods began and ended.*
*For about 200 years after Ribera and Bellarmine, Protestantism remained true to its prophetic principles.* - *In fact, the great Protestant expositors of Bible prophecy defended the historicist method during this period, tooth and nail. But then there was a shift, slow at first but then with a vengeance.* - *In the early 19th century, some Protestant expositors began to make overtures to Rome. This can be seen most clearly in the Oxford Tractarian Movement of the Anglican Church in England.*
*In the nineteenth century in Britain, the Futurist concept was again revived, by Samuel Maitland, James Todd, William Burgh, John Darby of the Plymouth Brethren, and the renowned John Henry Newman.* - *The most famous of these was in Plymouth. This group came to be known as the Plymouth Brethren. Among the notables in these fellowships were Edward Irving, Dr. S. P. Tregelles and John Nelson Darby (who joined in 1827).* - *At some point during this time, according to Tregelles, Edward Irving [yes, the same Edward Irving who translated Lacunza’s work] heard some mysterious utterances in an unknown tongue telling him that there was going to be a secret rapture of the church before the visible coming of Jesus.*
*Other proponents of these unBiblical teachings are Nelson Darby, Hal Lindsey, Cyrus Ingerson Scofield.*
*To be true to hermeneutical principles of interpretation, Biblical exegesis, and logic, the 70th week that followed the 69th week finds its fulfilment in what happened right after the 69th week; the coming of the Messiah and His crucifixion as found in Daniel 9:27 which reads, He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week, and in the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…* - *That is, as the text shows clearly:* - *Events that begin the 70th week describe the coming of “the Messiah, the Prince,” [vs24,25] the anointed one, [In both Hebrew and Greek, the Messiah, means “the anointed one”].* - *And Jesus was anointed at His baptism in 27 A.D. at the beginning of the 70th week.*
*The strange exegesis of Lindsey, Walvoord, and others who accept futurism join Ribera in pushing the 70th week into the future, applying it to events relating to the second coming of Christ.* - *The Secret Rapture Theory states that at the beginning of the 70th week, Christ will come secretly and snatch up the first-class Christians and take them to heaven for seven years,* - *thus escaping the tribulation.* - *At the end of the seven years, Christ comes back to this Earth to set up His kingdom.* - *The great-granddaddy Bible text for the entire secret rapture/tribulation theory is this same text Daniel 9:27.* - *It is the first verse quoted in the Left Behind movie.*
*Again, the theory says that during this seven-year period those “left behind” will now have a second chance for salvation* - *and then go forth to win the world for Christ, particularly the Jews.* - *During this seven-year period, the antichrist will appear and will make peace with Israel.* - *THE JEWISH TEMPLE WILL BE REBUILT,* - *and the sacrificial system will be re-instituted.* - *Note the interpretation here that the sacrificial system that Christ ended by His own sacrifice on the cross will be started all over again;* - *a strange interpretation that I’m sure even Christ would be offended by it.* - *THIS VIEW WRONGLY SEES THE NEW TESTAMENT AS ISRAEL-CENTERED RATHER THAN CHURCH-CENTERED.*
*Another well-known commentary by Adam Clarke says,* - *“This confirmation of the covenant must take in the ministry of John the Baptist with that of our Lord, comprehending the term of seven years, during the whole of which he might well be said to confirm or ratify the new covenant with mankind”* - *The Holy Bible with a Commentary and Critical Notes, Vol. IV, p. 602.*
*The Futurists deny the work of Christ confirming the covenant [Dan **9:27**],* - *and they apply this work to the antichrist.* - *THE TRUTH IS THAT NOWHERE IN SCRIPTURE DOES THE ANTICHRIST EVER MAKE A COVENANT WITH ANYONE.*
*Furthermore, the text says the Messiah will “confirm the covenant,” not be making a covenant.* *After seven years, the theory teaches that Christ will return to this earth to set up His kingdom.*
*For more than 300 years the Reformers and the Protestant Church rejected this theory completely.* - *Then, during the mid-1800s the theory was revived by men like Edward Irving and John Nelson Darby (Darbyism). In the early 1900s Cyrus Ingersoll Scofield, a Kansas lawyer, took up the cause.* - *More recently the Secret Rapture Theory has been adopted and proclaimed notably by Hal Lindsay, John Walvoord, Tim LaHaye, and Jerry Jenkins.*
*“It is a matter for deep regret that those who hold and advocate the Futurist system at the present day, Protestants as they are for the most part, are thus really playing into the hands of Rome.*

You see how they twisted the text.. to try to make it fit ..their.. narrative (straight from the Devil Himself!.). Later on that (same King has animosity against against the covenant). Or is upset with what that agreement ..in Daniel 11 read it. So how's it going to do that? if it's Jesus Christ, and he's dead? They skipped all the verses that they need to to spin it. They know the Looney tunes people of SDA will just believe them.. because that's all they've ever heard and they don't read it...( the narrative)... that king of Daniel 11:21 is fighting the king of the north( at the end) of time !!so how's he going to be there if it is( who they claim that guy is.)??? That would be in the past! 2000 years! I've never seen such a bowl of soup in my life .with arsenic in it!

What is wrong with the Prince of the covenant in Daniel 11 being Jesus? You do not think that prince is Jesus?

You guys are not serious students of the Bible. You just go with whatever your prophetess says and laugh off any other opinion. You didn't examine any of the text. You just compared your interpretation of Daniel 8 to your interpretation of Daniel 11. It's just like resetting one clock to another clock that is also wrong. I challenge you: get into the text of the Bible and do a serious study.

Did you really watch the video? They were not interpreting the chapters, they were showing how the little horn in the chapter was not Antiochus.
Perhaps tho, you can share your interpretation of Daniel 8 or 11.

@@JustAMessengero7gYes, I watched the whole video, and although they didn't mention EGW, I can detect her influence in everything that they say. Furthermore, the fact that they didn't exegete the text is exactly why they didn't see Antiochus IV in it. And you can't see it because you won't look.

Does this video end the debate? From the comments, obviously not. lol
Verse 14 is the answer to the question posed in verse 13, "How long . . . the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?" SDA say some "sanctuary in heaven, God and Christ's ministry there" were so 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘥 for 2,300 years 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝟒𝟓𝟕 𝐁𝐂.
    1. So before 457 BC, such was not the case?
    2. What did the holy one mean by "trample"?
    3. What happens when the "trampling" is done? How is it accomplished?

    • @thatnicekid04

Here are some verses to consider...
      Hebrews 10:29
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
      Revelation 11:2
But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Trampling under foot can be used in a figurative sense. By casting truth to the ground you can trodden Jesus under foot.
