Most of the time Mooncat isn't my vibe, but Witch Hazel and both the magnetics in this collection are stunning! Nocturne particularly looks amazing. Having a hint of teal instead of being just another run of the mill black base galaxy magnetic is so gorgeous! Though I wish the base were the tiniest bit lighter so that the teal contrast against the copper shimmer and bronze flakies would really come through.

Complete and utter appreciation for all of these. Mooncat doesn't make a bad polish! But I don't feel compelled to buy any of these. Maybe because my Mooncat collection is huge and these are so close to previous colors they released or others in my complete collection. I'm always excited for a Mooncat collection 🤩🤩🤩This one has such good variety too. The thermals are really lovely, and Fields of Lavender is really unique and unexpected for the name. I'm also tempted by Memento Mori and Poems for a Harvest Moon. But above everything else, I instantly fell in love with After the Rain. I have nothing like it so far, so I might have to grab that!

Poems For A Harvest Moon is the one I'm most intrigued by because I'm cautiously optimistic that I might have finally found a dupe for this [apparently ancient] Orly lemming called Hot House Flower. (When I say ancient, I found 2 reviews of it on MakeupAlley that are supposed to be from *17* years ago, eek!) Can't wait for the next sale!!!🌚😺
I had to rebuy the top coat and ended up also getting House of Hades and Fields of Lavender, that is such a stunning shade, will definitely be unique to my collection. I can also see myself buying After the Rain once spring rolls around next year. Great video as always Stefanie, thanks again

What a stunning collection! It’s dramatic but I was literally like 😮 when you did the second coat of DNotS 😂….the shimmer is so satisfying intense in this collection. Prob the main reason I’ll hold off on buying anything from this collection rn (besides just budgeting 😂) is because I already have quite a few moody shades! Definitely not close enough to be dupes but still enough where I know if I look at them I’ll be like, okay, DID I need this? 😂 with that said, whenever I can make my next purchase I’m definitely gonna be eying fields of lavender and jewel beetle. The shift on JB is so pretty.

Thank you for the swatches! I'll probably get Witch Hazel, Fields of Lavender, Poems for a Harvest Moon and Momento Mori and After the Rain when they go on sale later this year. I'm curious to see how (if at all) the cold state of Twilight Sonata compares to Midnight Rider. And maybe you got something in the PR info but I'm just not seeing how the collection fits the theme? I get more of a 'long dark night' vibe rather than cycles of growth, death and rebirth, but I also haven't read all the official descriptions so maybe it'll make more sense. The polishes are beautiful nonetheless, even if some aren't to my taste, but it feels like they were kind of crammed into a collection. Mooncat is usually great at curating a collection based on a theme and this one just felt disjointed to me.
my pleasure! 🥰 those are super beautiful picks!! and for the Twilight Sonata / Midnight Rider comparison, i can see the cold state being similar but mainly for the shimmer color, the more notable difference is the base colors where Midnight Rider is much darker (its either black or a deep blue black) and it also has the scattered holo too, so i would say you can easily tell them apart. yeah this theme is a lot more abstract, i associated the darker colors with the death part and the lighter ones with rebirth generally, but i’m sure the actual polish descriptions will paint a better picture haha! i do get what you mean though about them almost seeming random & disjointed. maybe certain colors could have been swapped for others that made more sense, but it seems like Michelle was just really called to these shades!

of course! oh i see what you mean, but color wise they’re actually pretty different where HoH is a deeper more vibrant cobalt blue, DNotS is a lighter blue, idk if cerulean is accurate lol. theres actually a small flakie in HoH that looks like its the same color but its pretty sparse. i hope that helps!

Love your videos and comparisons! Did you consider comparing momento mori to Sugar Rush from HT? The bottle shot of MM has way more shimmer than sugar rush but wondering if the overall effect on the nail is similar?
I have looked multiple times at mooncat polishes and almost ordered but I won't now after seeing how they handled the exploding bottles... Also I saw one review on TH-cam where they had sent someone old polish and other polish that was way different than swatches or polishes other people have reveived. I don't trust their quality control at all
I want some of them but everything is way more expensive in canada😢 most polishes are $20 +. I have a few from moon cat but will have to wait till the sale for these

hm i can kinda see that but Kelp Kingdom is a lot more green/brown with a lighter colored shimmer, Nocturne is a deep tealy blue with almost reddish shimmer! so i wouldn’t call them dupes at all

@@shalilou4965😳 Do you mean less product in the manufacturing of the bottle itself, or less polish in the bottle? We DEFINITELY DON'T want less polish, as they're expensive enough for the original amount.
They put something out on instagram last week - they have changed bottle manufacturers. Aesthetically the bottles look the same, but beginning with this collection everything will have the new bottles. They are working to transition the rest of their catalog to the new bottles. FWIW, they have started putting numbers on the bottom of the bottles so they can track which batch people have trouble with. I think they have taken it seriously and have done what they can to solve the issue.

The blurple shimmer is nice but i alr have ILNP Abracadabra and it looks close enough for me 😆
Jewel Beetle looks like a dupe of one of the ILNP multichromes, so striking off that one too

I'm always excited for a Mooncat collection 🤩🤩🤩This one has such good variety too. The thermals are really lovely, and Fields of Lavender is really unique and unexpected for the name. I'm also tempted by Memento Mori and Poems for a Harvest Moon. But above everything else, I instantly fell in love with After the Rain. I have nothing like it so far, so I might have to grab that!

Poems For A Harvest Moon is the one I'm most intrigued by because I'm cautiously optimistic that I might have finally found a dupe for this [apparently ancient] Orly lemming called Hot House Flower. (When I say ancient, I found 2 reviews of it on MakeupAlley that are supposed to be from *17* years ago, eek!)

Right now I’ve listed: poems for a harvest moon, sagebrush (I know this one is a must), jewel beetle, after the rain, and memento mori. My Mooncat’s wishlist is never empty so they’ll all compete when it’s purchasing day.

And I'm beyond excited for Jewel Beetle! I don't have Dragon Scales due to that CA cancer warning so I'm stoked about having an alternative!

thank you for the swatches! i love poems for a harvest moon and twilight sonata but i neeeed to know if the shimmer formula in them is the same formula that lovebomb or nightcrawler have. her shimmers that have that finer/smoother texture are my favorite!!

What a stunning collection! It’s dramatic but I was literally like 😮 when you did the second coat of DNotS 😂….the shimmer is so satisfying intense in this collection.
Prob the main reason I’ll hold off on buying anything from this collection rn (besides just budgeting 😂) is because I already have quite a few moody shades! Definitely not close enough to be dupes but still enough where I know if I look at them I’ll be like, okay, DID I need this? 😂 with that said, whenever I can make my next purchase I’m definitely gonna be eying fields of lavender and jewel beetle. The shift on JB is so pretty.

Thank you for the swatches! I'll probably get Witch Hazel, Fields of Lavender, Poems for a Harvest Moon and Momento Mori and After the Rain when they go on sale later this year. I'm curious to see how (if at all) the cold state of Twilight Sonata compares to Midnight Rider. And maybe you got something in the PR info but I'm just not seeing how the collection fits the theme? I get more of a 'long dark night' vibe rather than cycles of growth, death and rebirth, but I also haven't read all the official descriptions so maybe it'll make more sense. The polishes are beautiful nonetheless, even if some aren't to my taste, but it feels like they were kind of crammed into a collection. Mooncat is usually great at curating a collection based on a theme and this one just felt disjointed to me.
my pleasure! 🥰 those are super beautiful picks!! and for the Twilight Sonata / Midnight Rider comparison, i can see the cold state being similar but mainly for the shimmer color, the more notable difference is the base colors where Midnight Rider is much darker (its either black or a deep blue black) and it also has the scattered holo too, so i would say you can easily tell them apart. yeah this theme is a lot more abstract, i associated the darker colors with the death part and the lighter ones with rebirth generally, but i’m sure the actual polish descriptions will paint a better picture haha! i do get what you mean though about them almost seeming random & disjointed. maybe certain colors could have been swapped for others that made more sense, but it seems like Michelle was just really called to these shades!

of course! oh i see what you mean, but color wise they’re actually pretty different where HoH is a deeper more vibrant cobalt blue, DNotS is a lighter blue, idk if cerulean is accurate lol. theres actually a small flakie in HoH that looks like its the same color but its pretty sparse. i hope that helps!

Edit: disappointing to see the glass bottles still have insanely thin spots in the corners. I thought they addressed this already but obviously not. Why on earth are they still releasing shades in bottles that could explode.
you’re so welcome! i did my best with these :) and they actually did switch to a new manufacturer so these are the new bottles. i know some corners might look thin, but I think a lot of other brands also have thin corners too 😅 i can understand wanting to wait though just to be safe!

of course! 🥰 yay glad you grabbed those two, they’re sooo pretty 🤩 and ohh i would say lavender fields is like the darker moodier older sibling of TMTYL lol its a deeper purple base and the shimmer is red head on vs the more coppery orange in TMTYL, but the shimmer is stronger in that on (maybe bc it isn't magnetic) i hope that helps!!

I have looked multiple times at mooncat polishes and almost ordered but I won't now after seeing how they handled the exploding bottles... Also I saw one review on TH-cam where they had sent someone old polish and other polish that was way different than swatches or polishes other people have reveived. I don't trust their quality control at all
I want some of them but everything is way more expensive in canada😢 most polishes are $20 +. I have a few from moon cat but will have to wait till the sale for these

hm i can kinda see that but Kelp Kingdom is a lot more green/brown with a lighter colored shimmer, Nocturne is a deep tealy blue with almost reddish shimmer! so i wouldn’t call them dupes at all
The lack of holo in these polishes make them seem unfinished/dull/boring to me? I know that’s an unpopular opinion lol but polishes with just shimmer in them look so weird to me

Ah sorry I don’t have that one anymore! Iirc Brightside was a bit more of a true carrot orange lol so less warm than PFAHM, and obviously the main difference is the flakies.

How long is the wear time?
i’ve heard mooncat has long wear time, but it also depends on your prep!
Not going to pick up any of these, or other mooncat shades until they will solve the exploding bottles issue for good, but the magnetics are pretty!
What exploding bottles? 😳 I’m an international buyer so it would be good to know, because these are veeery expensive to me 😱
you might have missed it since i’ve only seen this statement in their stories (though i believe someone posted the screenshots to reddit, if you google i’m sure it will show up), but mooncat switched manufacturers and all new collections including this one will be made by the new one!
Mooncat sent me an email regarding this. They put less product in the bottle to avoid the issue.
@@shalilou4965😳 Do you mean less product in the manufacturing of the bottle itself, or less polish in the bottle? We DEFINITELY DON'T want less polish, as they're expensive enough for the original amount.
They put something out on instagram last week - they have changed bottle manufacturers. Aesthetically the bottles look the same, but beginning with this collection everything will have the new bottles. They are working to transition the rest of their catalog to the new bottles. FWIW, they have started putting numbers on the bottom of the bottles so they can track which batch people have trouble with. I think they have taken it seriously and have done what they can to solve the issue.
