    I heard that every spring when it was planting time. Sounds of my childhood.

    We have a 1953 B bought new in that year by my father. Now imagine driving it all the way to Washington DC back in 1967 from east central Illinois on tractor drive in support of the farming industry. Popping all the way. Had to adjust the RPM a bit to obtain the 10 mph mimum for the trip. Tractor is still on the farm today with the history behind it.

      That’s a great story and great to have that tractor still on the farm. That ride to DC would be one heck of a drive! I’ve gone about 40 miles on a tractor ride and that was a long day! Haha

    That old b sounds good! When I was young, dad and my brothers used to buzz saw black jack timber and sale for firewood! The old b would grunt down when sawing thru around 24 inch round wood, she chug down low and we pull wood back and old b chug back up to speed! We sawed alot of ricks of wood with it!

    That sounds brings me right back to childhood, sitting on an old B plowing snow with a trip bucket loader. U never got cold cause u never stopped moving, between the hand clutch and loader it was a steady circus of pulling and pushing levers and changing gears. 👍

      @TractorHoarders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, you’re right about that! Running that it might be nice to have an extra arm.

    Wow! The last time I remember hearing that sound was Independence Day 2021. We have an annual family reunion along with a hay ride. The tractor wasn’t there for this year though. That’s a great sounding tractor.

      A nice hay ride at the family reunion sounds fun. Maybe they can get it back next year. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a good time!

      When I was old enough to run and bigger tractor and could help Dad more, he traded the model "H" Deere that I had been using for a 1952 "B". I spent lits of time doing many jobs on it for years. Our other tractor was an "A" . It had been overbored and had aluminum pistons installed as well as a water pump so as not melt down the pistons. We got lots done with those two tractors.

    Hey does a stock John Deere B pull ok?

    • @TractorHoarders
      @TractorHoarders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think so! I guess it depends on what you want to pull, but they were designed as a two bottom plow tractor. I typically run into a lack of weight before a lack of power.

      This model B is likely somewhere between 25hp and 30hp.
