    Every now and again I come across these machines or similar rack mountable samplers/drum machines from 30+ years ago. I always wonder if i should grab one to fool around, i know if it doesn't work I'm going to want to make it work. i'm glad you made some videos so I can see it in all it's glory!

    Hi, thanks for this video! Do you record a sample first in the S900 and then from the S900 to the MPC60? What for? How did it get such a crunch piano and filter effect in the end result? Have you recorded a multitrack in DAW?

    • @SiHargreaves
      @SiHargreaves 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's why he runs it through the S900 I imagine, to get the extra crunch. S900 + MP60 = nice

    @vubeatz im recently working with a similar set up. Just got the s900. Very excited aboit it. Im curious. Did you just punch in the start/end chop points manually on the s900 sample, or is there a way to trigger location points in the sample via the mpc?

    is it possible to simply play audio on a turntable and send the audio directly into the MPC 60 without any need for midi cables or disks or other components?
    And Is a floppy disk always required to be in the akai mpc 60 ii while performing any operations in it?
    I appreciate it!

    • @vubeatz
      @vubeatz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't use floppy at all. For sampling to MPC 60 You need to have grounded turntable connected by rca to jack cable. If You have ungrounded turntable You need to ground it first by using for example, dj mixer like I do :)

    combination of mpc 60 and s900 is genius!!!!
    Im a fan of analog things and im using new school stuff and I was always wondering how I can connect to that cool mpc60 sound as a new school person with this background to this device that doesnt have usb or sd card and works with floppy
    you can connect s900 to you computer and put output to the mpc60 input and just sample anyyyyything!
    IT IS GENIUS no exaggeration

    • @xisotopex

    • @miladbarikani3591
      @miladbarikani3591 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xisotopex well they are built in digital for the recording purposes
      but the way people record the sounds of them are with wires. It's not a zero and ones recreations of the sound at the end, it's actual electricity
      and my comment was dumb anyway cause there is no need to connect anything to your computer they have trs inputs

    • @vubeatz
      @vubeatz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      my first mpc was 2000 classic - in 2006. I learn mpc with instruction, because I sold my pc to get money for mpc :)

  • @jacobbrown5231
    @jacobbrown5231 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So what is the purpose in recording into the s900 then into the MPC? Why not record straight into the mpc, it has a good sampler and filter in there already?

    • @vubeatz
      @vubeatz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      MPC 60 are not equal to S900 :) I know people like to compare them because both of them are 12bit and 40khz but that's it. S900 is much fatter on the drums and MPC 60 don't have a filter :)

    Obviously there are no rules, and whatever works for you is gold, but the s900 is a variable sample rate machine (unlike say, the MPC60 or SP1200) so there is no advantage to sampling in at 45RPM. On the 900/950 you can just record with a lower sample rate, and skip that step.

    • @robertsmithshair4199
      @robertsmithshair4199 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not true, you save on RAM, and pitching the sample play back down exposes the the missing 'samples' adding to the crunchiness
