夏の京都旅初日は、JR東海のEX旅先予約を利用した。
クラッシックで美しいレトロハウスでのランチと、洛中の美酒飲み比べプランである。
途中、菅原道真公が産湯を使ったという井戸のある神社をお参りし、ちょうど七夕の季節なので、短冊にお願いごとを書いて笹につけた。
さあ、ランチの場所に行こう、とテクテク歩いていくと、守衛さんの守る物々しい雰囲気の門と、その向こうにまるでイギリスのお屋敷のような建物が現れた。
あれ？ここなのかな？
僕は恐る恐る、Salon de 1904はどこですか？と守衛さんに聞いてみた。すると、確かにあの建物の中に、目指すお店があるという。
その美しいクラッシックな建物は、明治37年（1904）に建てられた京都府庁旧本館で、目指すお店は建物を入って1階にあった。
木を白く塗った塗装がところどころはがれていたけど、府庁時代に使用されていたテーブルや椅子が今でも使われていて、往時の華やかな雰囲気を今も感じることができた。
僕はじっくり煮込んだミートソーススパゲティと、サラダとコーヒーのセットを注文し、この建物が経てきた歴史に思いをはせながら、ゆったりとランチを堪能した。
あとでグーグルマップをよく見ると、この場所はかつて京都守護職がおかれていた場所と知り、胸が熱くなった。
京都御所からも近く、広大な敷地には今も京都府警本部や京都府庁がおかれている。
なるほど、遠い昔から今に至るまで、ここはずいぶんと重要な場所であるのだな。
さて、美味しいランチを食べた後は、日本酒の飲み比べである。
洛中の小道を進んでいくと、軒先に杉玉が飾られているのを見つけて、目指す場所にたどり着いたことが分かった。
飲み比べプランでは、利き酒コイン6枚と、特製手ぬぐいがもらえる。
コインは、コースターや酒カップとも交換できるそうで、僕は5枚をお酒に、1枚をかわいい猫のコースターに交換した。
お酒は、ボタンを押すと一定量がそそがれる酒サーバーで、好きなお酒を選んで飲むことができる。
ひとつひとつのお酒に説明が書かれていて、じっくり選びながら飲んだ。どれも芳醇でとても美味しかった！
ランチと美酒で、心もお腹も満たされたワン！

On the first day of my summer trip to Kyoto, I tried a sightseeing spot booking service offered by JR Tokai website.
I booked two plans, one is a lunch at a classic house and another is sake tasting plan.
On the way, I visited a shrine with a well that was said to have been used by Lord Sugawara Michizane as a birthwater.
It was the season of Tanabata, so I wrote my wish on a tanzaku strip and hung it on a bamboo branch.
As I walked to the booked restaurant, I saw a gate with a stern atmosphere secured by a guard and a building that looked like an English mansion beyond the gate.
Is this it? Is this the place?
I asked the guard, "Where is Salon de 1904? "
Then the guard kindly told me that the restaurant was indeed in that building.
The beautiful classical building was the former main building of the Kyoto Prefectural Government, built in 1904, and the restaurant I was aiming for was on the first floor inside the building.
The plaster was peeling in places, but the tables and chairs that had been used in the days of the prefectural office were still in use, and I could still feel the glamorous atmosphere of the past.
I ordered spaghetti with slow-cooked meat sauce, salad, and coffee, and enjoyed a leisurely lunch while thinking about the history of this building.
Later, I looked at the google map more closely and found that this was the exact place of former location of the Kyoto Protectorate General of Tokugawa Shogunate. No wonder the site is still so spacious and is also close to the Kyoto Imperial Palace.
Now, there are many governmental offices such as the Kyoto Prefectural Police Headquarters and Kyoto Prefectural office and so on . So, from the distant past to the present, thissite has been the place of political and defensive importance.
After a delicious lunch, it was time for the sake tasting plan.
As I proceeded down a small street in Rakuchu area, I found a cedar ball decorated on the eaves of the roof, which told me that I had arrived at my destination.
With the tasting plan, I was given six sake-tasting coins and a special tenugui (hand towel).
The coins can be exchanged for coasters and sake cups.
I spent five coins on sake and one on a coaster with cute cats on it.
Sake was served at the sake server, where a fixed amount of sake was poured at the push of a button.
Each sake had an explanation written thereupon, so I took my time in selecting sakes and enjoyed sipping them.
All the sakes were mellow and very tasty!
