- This is my late Christmas present to you all. :) I worked on this for about a year, and I'm very proud to present it to you guys.
During the Battle of Wuhan (Second-Sino Japanese War), a garrison of Nationalist and Communist Chinese soldiers must fend off a wave of Japanese soldiers hellbent on advancing into Wuhan. They must hold their ground to the very last man...surrender is not an option.

This is really well done and very unique! People hardly talk about the Asian theatre of WW2 on the mainland so it's really refreshing to see something like this.

For those who don't know, the Germans supplied the Chinese Nationalists (Kuomintang) with military equipment such as Stahlhelms, anti tank guns, field artillery, mortars, and even some Panzer I light tanks. In return, the Chinese Nationalists would provide raw materials to the Germans, known as the Sino-German Cooperation which saw high activity from 1928 to 1937 (officially ended in 1941) and only ended due to Japan (Germany's ally) invading China in 1937, then Japan's invasion of the British Asian colonies (1940) and the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor (1941).
Though one thing that must be noted is that only the Central Army units under Kuomintang control (also known as the Whampoa Clique due to the new units being trained at the Whampoa Military Academy) had the German military equipment.
These elite divisions were trained by German officers (most notably the General Staff led by Alexander von Falkenhausen) and supposed to reach a total of 60 divisions, but only ended with 6 completed (but 4 additional not fully trained). Of which, the 36th, 87th, and 88th, were majority wiped out in Shanghai.
Though regular, Central Army units trained in Whampoa also generally received German equipment to an extent (low supply was a big issue) like the Stahlhelm, but were not as capable as the elites trained by the Germans (look up films like the 800 Heroes or the Defenders, both of which accurately portray 88th Division soldiers during the Battle of Shanghai).

For someone that do not know why the Chinese have German helmets, equipment and guns, Germany was supplying China until 1941.
The supplying stopped after the attack of Perl Harbor, were Japan and USA officially entered WWII

Yes, known as the Sino-German Cooperation, in return for natural resources from China, Germany provided much needed equipment such as artillery, machine guns, rifles, helmets, and even a small amount of light tanks (Panzer Is) from 1928 up until around 1937 (which saw deterioration due to Japan invading China) and officially ending in 1941 (US supporting China and going to war with Germany, alongside Germany recognizing the sovereignty of the Reorganized Nationalist Government under Wang Jingwei, a puppet regime of Japan)

The ones with the Stahlhelms (elite Chinese units) tended to wear dark green uniforms of the military variant of the Zhongshan suit

To be fair, I couldn't really tell if what the Chinese guys were saying was actually Chinese since the way the audio was cut up made it hard. I am really curious if it was real or not.

@@historyarmyproductions My Chinese is alright and I've seen enough war movies to expect what they would say. If you do need to get clips of what they actually say, here's a list of Chinese war films from the era and the year they take place in:
800 Heroes (1937)
Defenders (1937)
The 100 Regiment Offensive (1940)
The Bloody Battle of Tai'erzhuang (1938)
Death and Glory in Changde (1943)
Nanniwan (1943)
Purple Sunset (1945)
In terms of accurate records of the battles themselves, the Bloody Battle of Tai'erzhuang is my favorite as it has both accurate dates, locations, historical figures, and depictions of fight scenes (but also has old style war movie issues with weird fight scene acting). The dates, units involved, officers, etc were done really well.
As for a good war film, Death and Glory in Changde, as well as Defenders, are more modern films worthy to be called good war movies in terms of their fighting sequences with how the soldiers fight, the music tensions, etc.
And for a good story, Purple Sunset and Nanniwan are good with Purple Sunset being about a Russian female soldier, conscripted female Japanese civilian, and male Chinese farmer stuck together trying to survive and Nanniwan about the taming of the land by the 8th Route Army.

Edit: The Chinese having German uniforms and equipment made it more realistic because the Germans did support some non communist Chinese forces
Yes, the Germans supported the Central Government of the Chinese Nationalists (Kuomintang) under Chiang Kai-shek specifically from 1928 to 1941
This is especially true when you see the Pak 36 (anti tank gun) being manned by Chinese elite forces (the ones with the German Stahlhelms), although I wish they had green uniforms to increase the accuracy

The Japanese used poison gas multiple times on the Chinese troops at Wuhan and the surrounding the areas. This battle was huge! Over one million Chinese troops alone.

ViVe TV A lot of them are custom, with uniform stickers that I bought from Brickmania. The only minifigure that wasn't custom was the Japanese officer.
