Lin Shidong's backhand is the fastest - there is absolutely zero question about it. Just look at 0:18, 0:30, 2:39, 5:25, etc. But the thing is he can't produce that shot very consistently. But when he does, it is unreturnable.

I like Truls' playing style because it is very entertaining to watch, but in all honesty, he doesn't seem to understand the impact good (or bad for that matter) psychology has on his playing. Very bad mentality, which I hope he can work on while putting himself to the hardest TT test in the world, the Chinese league. I haven't watched one single game of his where he doesn't gamble all his chips on a monster forehand down the line and doesn't care to return behind the table. Then, his opponents return the ball to the opposite side while Truls is almost outside of the camera frame. There is no ball in table tennis that can not be returned, and frequency of edge balls has a direct correlation to the confidence of the player. Losing your mind over edge balls only serves the opponent. Close games though and always fun to watch!
