    For those looking for these engines they are being sold as "kits" and you put it together yourself. I've also heard they import them from Canada with the injection parts removed as"compressors" and you get the fuel system separately. They just can't be imported as complete engines.

    just a suggestion but, when you crank it, it's advisable to keep your thumb the same side of the crank as your fingers. As you do it, if it does kick back it would break your thumb. Nice engine buy the way

    About one quart an hour at half load. Waiting for power failure due to snow fall soon to see how long the 8 gallons will last. We get about 101 inches a year for snow, but way behind this year.

    LincTexPilot, Thanks for the advice. I will put a brace on the pipe leaving the thermostat, but the water pump pipe is short. I will look around next time I run the generator for things that wiggle. Thanks again!

    Oolosoon,
    I welded two 4" I beems with 3 1/2" box steel as cross section. It is a custom axle with Goodyear rubber.

  • @crash4me719
    @crash4me719  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Ooloosoon First, I open the crankcase, cleaned it out, re-did the piping for an oil filter and filled it up with Amsoil Diesel oil. It runs good and I believe it to be of good quality. I only have 10 hours on it, but I'm going to knock my house down and live in a motor home and this will be my power for several days. When I start it now, I clamp it to the John Deere, so no more wheelies!!

  • @LincTexPilot
    @LincTexPilot 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to add more braces and clamps here, there and about. Anything that wiggles or shakes while the engine runs is bound to crack over time. Replace any solid metal lines with flex lines. Don't have heavy pipe fittings out on the end of any length of pipe. I have learned the hard way that if it wiggles or jiggles AT ALL - - - over time it will break.

    Sooo, It was a great build, however some guy in Wisconsin liked it A LOT more than I. This guy drove to my house in Ohio with cash in hand and left with the Lister. I put a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel with a 15KW head on it in my garage to power the whole house during a snow storm. NOT ONE POWER FAILURE YET!! krawl, I'm not sure what the RPM was, around 750 to 800 buy using a reflective tape and timing light RPM meter.

    I never saw heavy load. I had a little trouble with fluid level, however no consumption. I really should have locked the trailer to the tractor before starting, oh well it makes for a fun video. I used a mitz thermostat to keep the coolant under control. I have a list of parts I used if you are interested.

    • @philhealey449
      @philhealey449 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertgilbert5046 I'm being tongue in cheek on the filter. Listers very addictive, I've a JP1 DC start-o-matic plant, a JP4 20 kVA generator from a WW2 airfield control tower and a 6/1 2.5 kVA Start-o-Matic. Old stock spares are better than new; I bought a new cylinder for the 6/1 that seemed to be a Listeroid product and lacked the chrome plated bore. I did make a silencer from an old domestic fridge compressor at one time, so not really qualified to complain at a plastic air filter!

    Hello
    I am adjusting the temperature controls of my powerline 12/1.
    A question : after use, what about a feedback on your temperature control choices. no problem with heavy load, no water consumption or steam exhaust ?
    maker says we should not feed the motor bottom inlet with temp higher than 60° celcius. if you have a pump, the water does circulate and be evenly everywhere in the system at the same temp.
    any feedback on water matters on your system ? thanks

    Nice build, what rpm is that engine?
    I would put a couple of adjustable legs on the back to take the weight off the tires. You actually loose a little power letting it bounce. Plus it can cause the governor to be erratic when the shaking changes with load. I started out with rubber mounts and switching to solid made a huge difference.

    • @mainelyelectric

      I own a 12/2 and would like to install it permanently someday. I would like to bolt the 6x6’s it’s sitting on to my concrete floor would it be ok to put little squares of 1/4 inch or so rubber pads under the bolts of the 6x6’s?

    • @krawlr
      @krawlr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mainelyelectric You want these engines mounted as solid as possible. A typical 4" concrete floor will probably fail. That base I had went 2.5' into the ground. 72 bags of concrete, not a fun day. Rubber will absorb some of your power strokes and cost you power. I was warned not to use rubber mounts and they were right. Surprisingly it's a much sweeter machine bolted solid.
