I tell both of my sons that the wind, the sun, the moon and the stars all have to align perfectly for it all to come together bowhunting! Just sitting here enjoying some grouse noodle soup Randy!
I hope these Gerber boys will be back again. This has become a revenge/rivalry with these elk for these guys! My hopes are always high watching them. They need to get something down and show us some sweet knife work! Keep the content coming Randy!
What a great hunt! Those young men will always remember it and continue "the hunt" knowing it's not always about harvesting the animal, it's about the love and respect of the Great Outdoors!
This hunt was one of my favorites to watch and Ive just about seen them all. It goes to show just how much work you gotta put in. Great motivation to get in good shape for 2022 season.
Bow hunting elk is like climbing a high mountain, when you finally get there after all the difficult work it's oh so sweet! Love all of your videos. >>>>---------->
I’ve hunted public land for years - and experience is always hike farther than you can walk from the road. Being patient and willing to hike out with out blood 🩸 on your back and hands take will. I’ve seen many give up and just buy meat 🥩 for me filling my fries a must
I see you are hunting the same terrain and elevation I used to bowhunt. I cant belelive how much crap you are carrying on your backs. I used to have a fanny pack with my water, power bars and knives and marking tape, compass, flashlight, batteries. Camera sometimes. We didnt have cell phone/gps in the 90s 🤣 nor range finder. Still fun to watch you guys with my chips on the couch 😅 . You guys went through same things I went through. I think those elk are spooky in burn areas since the cover is mostly gone. Wind shifts have burned me lots of times. I was fortunate to get a bull 8 years in a row with the bow. No monsters, but worth every foot step and in Gods country.
My whole life ive hunted in se idaho by sawmill canyon north of howe. Last year i got a 5 point just north of howe idaho saved me a hour of driving to sawmill. The big hills have some crazy heards. Keep it going...
I know Randy hears comments about his calling all the time (even though he calls in more elk than most of us), but I bet Corey is cringing like crazy watching this group of callers haha. Still another awesome episode!
Wes; Go and do it! I started in 2016 and have gone to Colorado every season with the exception of 2017. Budget and lots of planning and it can be done. I've hunted 3rd rifle and drew for 4th last November. Going up for 2nd rifle this year. You won't regret it and you will be hooked on those mountains for life.
Proof that just because you have a bugle tube is alot like, just because you have a driver's license doesn't mean you're a good driver, but it'll get you better points A and B. Love the videos and have been following Randy for many years, but nothing worse than being around elk and having someone running around the mountain screaming relentlessly on a tube.
Great clip. Makes me glad I live where I get to do that every year. Black screen had me thinking my phone broke but those dang commercials were frustrating. I know the bills have to be paid but I couldn’t wait until I could hit skip to try and get back into the hunt.
Good times. That’s archery elk hunting in SW MT in a nutshell. It’s tough business, but any day in the mountains in sept is better than any other day of the year over any other place on the planet. T minus !!
Geez, horses and llamas... I archery hunted deer and elk in Western WA, and packed 35lbs of gear, plus my heavy, cumbersome crossbow (I'm disabled) - and still got my animals! It was painful, but exhilarating! I've wanted to use a horse, but the guys I hunted with didn't. They returned to poaching. SMH Reports to WDFW goes ignored - "Thanks, but not enough field guys." This hunt reminds me a bit of hunting in Kodiak. Harder in WA with all the felled logs covered with undergrowth.
Curious - I know you’re having a blast out west and all, but do you ever get back to Minnesota to hunt too? I don’t know what the TV producer types think, but I for one would actually enjoy a bit more of relatively “ordinary” hunts for stuff like deer, grouse, or even squirrel in the north woods to have some more “relatable” settings along with the western stuff. (I’m in Minnesota myself, so it’d be fun to see how you approach the same stuff I’d be doing.)
Such a rush. I was blessed to call in a smaller 6 point bull in Idaho it was a beautiful thing. I believe these days are over my friends Agenda 21 is coming in like a frieght train from hell & doesn't appear we can stop it : ( Well very much enjoyed watching your guys hunt & im betting when time comes hunting in Haven is going to rock
I've heard a story from local conservation officer that a man, shot gutted and brought a persons pet goat in to a check station thought he had a buck...
What is it all you guys are chewing at? Is it anything connected to the bugle call? I am happy for you to have the opportunity of those wilderness hunts. Here in Germany we have Good hunting too, but it's not as connected to nature any more. More like driving to a highseat and shooting from an upholstered Bench;-) So I really like your show for this very hard working kind of hunting!!!
Our golden retriever died a few years ago. Sad sad sad day. She was the best. But now we are considering a llama. Tough on the hardwood floors, I'm guessing. Do they snore?
Randy I gotta give props for another great video. I’m gonna go on one more elk hunt and kill a big one this time. I’ve killed a spike and a cow but I want a big one. The spike was legal where I killed it when I killed it 20 years ago.
I have harvested several cows for the meat in years past. I want another pronghorn, mule deer and elk then I wanna set my sights on a big cat and a moose. I really don’t care for the big grizzly bears as I don’t care to eat em but I love black bears.
Randy, All the commercial interruptions really screw up the flow of the video. I don't know how it works, do you guys set the commercial breaks in the video or does TH-cam? Whoever does it, there's way too many. I was watching and at one point they were spaced about 3 minutes apart. Love your videos when I can get focused on them and share in the emotion. Not so much on this one.
Those stupid chickins have ruined numerous stalks for me. Elk ran off every time. I have had great results calling in cows and bulls with agressive calling with the Carlton fighting cow call. Since you have 3 callers have another guy call with an Ed Sceerry cow call. Or a Primos call.
Looks like Sasquatch was messing with our edit again at the 26 minute mark. Don’t worry we’ll fire him for it.
That darn Sasquatch... 33 days and counting to season!
Time to divest of my Jack Link stocks.
i get the same way with grouse i run a 1 inch washer behind my tip so i dint shoot thru and loose my arrow
I tell both of my sons that the wind, the sun, the moon and the stars all have to align perfectly for it all to come together bowhunting! Just sitting here enjoying some grouse noodle soup Randy!

I chuckled deeply to myself at the mention of the steepness of a hill in its relation to a map.
What a great hunt! Those young men will always remember it and continue "the hunt" knowing it's not always about harvesting the animal, it's about the love and respect of the Great Outdoors!

Even though no bulls were shot, that was just an absolutely beautiful elk hunt. Thank you guys very much for filming and sharing it.
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it.
Bow hunting elk is like climbing a high mountain, when you finally get there after all the difficult work it's oh so sweet! Love all of your videos. >>>>---------->
Thanks for watching.
Grouse hunting goes well with Elk hunting Randy! I totally 💯 agree.
Love elk hunting with archery gear
Great job

Blue gross sure can make a slow day fun !! God bless Mr. Baty and his family.

Another awesome video. Pretty cool to see some local boys hanging with Randy Newberg. So ready for archery season, thanks guys!
I know Randy hears comments about his calling all the time (even though he calls in more elk than most of us), but I bet Corey is cringing like crazy watching this group of callers haha. Still another awesome episode!
You guys made that look easy and we know that it was not. Thanks for the sharing another great adventure!
thx randy....going bow hunting on crown land in 13 days....as a newby its a longshot...but its the thrill of the kill and the agony of defeat...
For me, its usually the agony of the feet!
Great hunt.... gotta mention how hard it is with 4 hunters... not an easy task concerning noise and movement and you guys still almost got it done!!!
Beautiful Elk
One day i hope i can do something like this. This is a dream to some of us. I just hope these boys realize how lucky and blessed they are.

32:10 that's when experience comes into play, I would have never done that.
Thanks again 👍
Wow! As you say, the breaks don't always go to the Archers. You are getting me through the Quarantine. :-)
I hope I pull a tag for the next year for Utah , setup the lamas randy let’s do this , love all your videos keep it up , God bless
Randy Newberg, I've added them up. 17 things have to go right to put an elk on the ground with archery gear. Nice video. #PL, #DIY, #LlamaLife
At least!
Love the videos especially the archery ones!
Wow. Nice video. I love the back country. Next time someone will get the elk. I think using llamas to pack is a great idea.
Keep Going Randy, Love the vids!
Old guy seemed on the edge of a nap the entire hunt..lol
Randy "If I was an Elk" Newberg
Great clip. Makes me glad I live where I get to do that every year. Black screen had me thinking my phone broke but those dang commercials were frustrating. I know the bills have to be paid but I couldn’t wait until I could hit skip to try and get back into the hunt.
Randy is such a great person👍 wish we could combine and elk hunt in Colorado
Good times. That’s archery elk hunting in SW MT in a nutshell. It’s tough business, but any day in the mountains in sept is better than any other day of the year over any other place on the planet. T minus !!
Man that looks fun. The video kept going to a black screen at about the 26 minute mark. Just a heads up. That hunt looks fun
Thanks David
Such a cool hunt
What kind of camo is Randy wearing anyone know? It looks very comfy.
Geez, horses and llamas... I archery hunted deer and elk in Western WA, and packed 35lbs of gear, plus my heavy, cumbersome crossbow (I'm disabled) - and still got my animals! I live in eastern Ohio when I was younger someone tried to tag in a goat during deer season.

Tony Yarusso I've always loved grouse season on the Iron Range. Haven't been able to do it since 87 though.
Awesome, if it was super easy it wouldn’t be as rewarding!!
What are the Gerber guys using to attach their bows to their packs?
Such a rush. I was blessed to call in a smaller 6 point bull in Idaho it was a beautiful thing. I believe these days are over my friends Agenda 21 is coming in like a frieght train from hell & doesn't appear we can stop it : ( Well very much enjoyed watching your guys hunt & im betting when time comes hunting in Haven is going to rock
Heading to Idaho in a month!
Could I interest you in a heaping helping of 5 alarm chili?
How bout 3 alarm and we'll call it good
Interesting, ive never seen or heard of anyone using lamas for pack mules.
People been doing it more than 15 years. Mostly people who dont own horses 🤣
I've heard a story from local conservation officer that a man, shot gutted and brought a persons pet goat in to a check station thought he had a buck...
How much for Martial,s autograph? he has gotta be the coolest guy in the bunch.
Wait I didn’t tell you this was a grouse hunt?
Just curious.
Why use llamas over horses or mules?
Is that just a preference?
Or is there pros vs cons?
Lower maintenance. I know little about horses, such that they would likely die of neglect if left in my care.
I see lol
Well that is a genius idea!
And it’s probably super convenient.
What is it all you guys are chewing at? Is it anything connected to the bugle call?

I think it's their mouth reed calls.
Our golden retriever died a few years ago. Sad sad sad day. She was the best. But now we are considering a llama. Tough on the hardwood floors, I'm guessing. Do they snore?
Probably have to get a bigger bed too.
👍
Carson is that guy that listens to Joe Rogan too much
I see some private videos, do you offer them for some kind of membership?
I was wondering if anyone knew what state is the best for elk hunting and mule deer hunting
Nebraska
Northern part tho
Day one plan: no plan survives first contact with the enemy (or prey.)
All that black screen for a second or so it was your camera work Randy :)
Randy I gotta give props for another great video. I’m gonna go on one more elk hunt and kill a big one this time. I’ve killed a spike and a cow but I want a big one. The spike was legal where I killed it when I killed it 20 years ago.

I couldn't imagine doing this with a camera crew and partners. That's just got to make it so much harder to get what you want done.
Yup, extra movement, scent, noise. But, the only way to tell a story.
There must be some up side too. Obviously when packing out. And while glassing. etc
Am I the only one that wishes they would take his bugle tube away??
Was this not grizzly country?
Nope

TH-cam controls it.
My index finger needs physical therapy for clicking so many ads away . . .
They were obnoxious.Ruined the vibe.
Geez got enough commercials? not going to watch a video with that many commercials
Is it just me, or are these guys just making way too much noise?
What's up with the ads? There's more ad time then video time
Those stupid chickins have ruined numerous stalks for me. Elk ran off every time. I have had great results calling in cows and bulls with agressive calling with the Carlton fighting cow call. Since you have 3 callers have another guy call with an Ed Sceerry cow call. Or a Primos call.
Trop de baratin, pas assez d'action. Coupez... Coupez... coupez!
I hope I pull a tag for the next year for Utah , setup the lamas randy let’s do this , love all your videos keep it up , God bless
