I just brought a 1998 bird with only 10,246 miles. It was kept in a temp controlled garage all its life and serviced regularly. After cleaning her up she is absolutely brand new.
I'm in the process of buying an incredible silver 2002 US spec model here in the states. All original except the Corbin seat. Fantastic condition!! Only has 8225 KM ( 5111 miles) !! What a super rare find to come across a 19 year old bike with such low mileage. Should have in in 10-15 days. Can't wait! It'll be my 4th XX. Love a Blackbird!
Nice find, nice work, lovely machine; thank you kindly for sharing, friend. Sat through that, fascinated, to the end and loved the genuine skilled but laid back approach. There's plenty of folk would have wasted time being smug or more interested in gobbling off about how smart or sharp they are. None of that, just a bloke keen to quietly ply his skills, get his lad on a lovely machine and give us all a few great tips. Impressed and enlightened from thousands of miles away. Respect from the UK, take care, brother....
Great video mate thanks! Just bought myself a 2007 silver bird with 9534ks on the clock obviosly sat for a while needed tyres and did oil change etc great bikes! Cheers
Thanks for the video, mine runs fine but tempted to clean out the tank now. Fuel with the least amount of ethanol is apparently the best for not gumming.
I bought a 99 Blackbird in Saudi Arabia 4 years ago that had around 3600kms on the odo. When I sold it a year later, the odo read a little over 48,000kms 😀
Hi Guys ,Hope everyone is well .Could some please tell me if the BB Honda is advisable as a first bike .I have not ridden in 11 years and my last was a zzr 400 .Thanks
Fuel injectors do not cope well with broken down fuel. I had this happen with my '99 'bird that hadn't been run for 6 years. Completely refurbed the entire fuel system. Premium unleaded breaks down into something akin to seawater.
You seem to have good knowledge about blackbirds. I just recently bought a 99 model with just over 100k km. On a couple of occasions recently, the bike would sputter and seem to want to stall at low rpm, typically in slow traffic or at idle. If I rev it above 3-4k it runs normally. Sometimes the FI light comes on sometimes it doesn't. This condition doesn't last long, it seems to just go away on it's own after a few minutes. When I turn off the bike and restart it, the FI light does not come back on. Any thoughts on this? I am thinking FPR or rectifier issue. Battery could also play into it. I have read on other Blackbird forums that others have had similar problem but it's not always clear if the problem was solved or not.
Hi Jimbo. Is your battery up to scratch injected bikes use battery to run and if it is low on amps power it might show 12+ volts but on low revs or on idle drop under what it needs and that will bring on the FI light. That's my starting point. good luck.
Yes, I considered that as well. I ordered a new battery but also discovered the rectifier was an aftermarket replacement seemingly for a 98-01 vfr800 based on the number printed on it.? Not sure if the specs would be the same as for the Blackbird so I ordered one of those too (the proper one!). The joys of buying a used bike! It is otherwise an incredible bike Thanks.
They are very susceptible to dirty fuel. Always buy from high volume garages without a tanker sitting around filling up the tanks. I've been down that road you describe and the fix was that simple. My mechanic was servicing a bird with 450,000 k's on it so yours with regular servicing is only just run in.
I got one canadian special sports edition gun metal grey (2000) different ecu tuned and bigger pipes all to 167bhp from factory comes with xenon and heated grips also from factory and much faster than even a blackbird with full system on it ,a uk spec ive raced in the hway. 21k kms on the clock like brand new people when i say is a 2000 model they think im taking the piss on em. Yes they are still out there u just need to be lucky😂 i love every minute on it
I did the same when I bought a 2005 fast blue one in 2015 with just 17000 k's on it. I think these people scared themselves to death and just parked them up and then the neglect started. Yours doesn't sound any different. I got my mechanic to drain and replace all the fluids and please don't forget the fork oil. While he was at it he found everything that should have been lubed dry like the swing arm and steering head etc. Yours is guaranteed to be the same. Sounds like you have the 2007 tyres still on it too. Hmm? I've got pilot 4's on mine which are the ducks nuts. It's also a fair bet the bike will be original in the suspension dept. Please upgrade the fork springs with something heavier. Judging by the size of you guys at moderate to heavy braking you'll bottom out the front end and then you'll need to change your pants. Most suspension/spring shops will ask your weight and bike model before telling you the right spring rate. This is the best mod you can do for these bikes as the difference is night and day. Bike riders are the fussiest bunch out there so Honda sold boat loads of these bikes for one very good reason. They are a brilliant bike.
sad..a 13 year old bike that's just broken in-why do ppl buy bikes just to put them away?? i try to drive atleast 5000 km/year on my bb..it shoud be a law against not driving"so u have just managed 200 km this year,sorry-we have to sell the bike for you"

Good on ya Bob, and welcome to the BlackBird family around the world.
@@livingwithbikes4778 why thank you sir. I'm very much in love with my baby already.
99 is the best. I have a 2004 one now and wish I had my 99 back. No o2 sensors or cat on the 99 ;)

@@jimbo9953 hopefully that's all you need. I know you have a great bike and will get many smiling miles out of it. Cheers.

The bird has become a cheap way to buy a reliable bike. Mine is 21 years old now and running sweet.

Hi TBone. I think you are spot on, but just makes it fantastic for us.Cheers.
Ive herd that silver ones are quicker than blue ones
No I'm sorry Lucas you have been given misleading information. As we all know silver is 2nd place, and blue ribbon is for first place. nice try Son.
This is a lie spread by the unfortunate ones. Red are fastest. Mine is blue, but red underneath, giving a faster hybrid.
@@Pugwash. that makes your one the fastest you can have! LOL
Red ones are clearly the fastest. 😝
There all quick enough lets be honest
Brought is the past tense of bring. Bought is the pat tense of buy. Just saying.
