That door wasn't being painted. The old paint was being sand blasted off to expose the wood. Many cabinets in old houses were made with some really nice wood and over the decades people paint over the wood. Sand blasting it off with walnut shells or some type of abrasive that isn't too aggressive will expose that original beautiful wood. After that you just sand down any rough spots and put a nice finish on it.

But on this one where they cracked the glass, if you lean too hard on it, wouldn’t it just break and then you’d fall and then land on shards of glass? You better be confident in your stair ability if you wanna use these ones 😂
