- Haha... I saw an incredible amount of much damage from a boiler explosion that rocked the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, Maine when the Boilermaker crew from Boston arrived on site to rebuild the unit.... Amazing to see how a metal grate catwalk was blown completely off the building landing over 100 yards away...
if floods the boiler robs all the remaining heat and steam condenses. general speaking nothing happens. but the boiler does start shrinking. the problem is when you flood the boiler with cold water! then it rapidly shrinks and can cause stress craking anywhere. but rare to happen cuz boilers are fed by pre heated water. depeinging the style type of boiler the water with just run down the down comers but if a slug of water got into the hot steam or super heat tubes could have a steam explosion or implosion depends how much water and how fast. i build boilers for a living. and have to fix um when sumthen goes wrong.

What happens to water when flame failure happens? 80% steam, 20%water. Does it shrink and trip LWCO, Shrink and swell? Shrink? Swell?
