    You can also fold the end of the tape over on itself, which creates a tab.
    Good tips, and you have pretty and graceful hands.

    These were all great ideas. As far as the thread and the tape and the thread being sticky you just cut that and off and then it's not sticky anymore better to lose a little thread then to spend time trying desperately to thread the needle which only frustrates you. I also liked the tape and how you mark it so you can find the end again the pink clip. I truly enjoyed this video it was very helpful thank you for posting

    A well designed great video...BUT resist the urge to tape the ends of thread on the spool! Time and/or heat leaves icky stickies. Shoving a sharp needle through the threads of a spool is SO tempting, but just wait until nicked thread snags under stress in a garment or under the tension of the sewing machine

    • @jojo-wy7yq
      @jojo-wy7yq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      good thread have a needle storage in one end of the spool. Screw open and store inside. agree with you on the sticky tape, there normally in a little cut in the spool or a second ring at one end to hold the end of the thread

    Having not so great eyesight now I use a small crochet hook rather than thread a needle with the overlocker threads. Push the hook along the channel (starting about 30mm from the finished stitching) towards the end & pick up the thread chain. Pull back up the channel & snip off any excess. Same process but no small needle eye to deal with.

    Would recommend sharpening the entire blades of the scissors, not just the first 1/3 or 2/3... thanks for the rest of the tips.
    I use the small square tab, often found on bread/buns bags for the tab @ the end of the clear masking/packaging tape, instead of an "expensive plastic coated paper clip. The bag clips are "free", too.
    The tape around the "pressure foot" can be eliminated if you could find a "teflon" foot for your machine; often in sewing accessories area of big box stores or just ask @ a quilting store.
    I would not recommend placing the sharp end of a threaded needle through the thread still on the wound spool as it can spilt the thread. Instead, insert the blunt end of the needle (where the eye is) first.
    I always have a knotted piece of thread on needles I place in my pin cushions.
    I bought an extra large pin cushion with a strawberry attached (for sharpening needle & pin points), drew lined down from top center to the bottom center. I used these newly divided sections for different sewing machine needles. Labeled each area with an extra fine Sharpie marker. This saved time when having to switch to a different type of a needle, or when changing a broken needle. I use a large (retired) medication plastic bottle with a childproof cap in place, to store my broken/bent/dull pins & needles. When it is full, I just tape the cap closed with duct tape, write "SHARPS" on the tape & place it in the garbage bag.

    • @forgiven2812
      @forgiven2812 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the square plastic bag closures for narrow tape and junk "credit card" type cards (those that come in the mail) cut in half width-wise for wider tape.

    Great ideas. What do you do with the bits of foil once you have cut them up? We used to use strips of newsprint to stabilize slippery, thin or bulky materials for sewing. I use ziploc bags to tame my threads and bobbins. If you pull the tail thread under the wound thread on a bobbin it will stop it unwinding..

    For the tape, you just turn the end under and stick it to itself... no need to find a paperclip etc. You do NOT sew faux fur right side up, you always turn it over and sew from the reverse side. Most spools of thread either have a place to run the end through, like the third kind you did, or there might be a little slit/notch in the plastic that you can pull the thread tight thru... when threading a needle with thicker thread, you do not need extra stuff like tape... put the thread/wool over/around the needle, pinch the thread where it goes over the needle with your thumb and index finger and hold tight, pull the needle out, and you should have a tiny fold/thin end of thread or yarn loop that will slide into the needle's eye easily.
    I did like the hint about using making a knot by wrapping the needle and pulling through as well as the using the short thread to pull through the new piece of thread...
    The music you chose however was not pleasant but since you were not talking, it was easy to turn off the sound.

    • @charlottesantos4199
      @charlottesantos4199 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The tying bought threads together is what I do with me serger. Instead of having to retread all four lines, which can be tedious, I cut the thread from the beginning and tie on the new color thread. Then I take the two threads out of the needles, gather all four of the older thread by the needle and pull back. The new thread follows the old thread through all the twist and turn and finally the new thread is out of the back. Then I cut and rethread the two needles.

      *************Phaul, have you thought of making your own video instead of shredding someone elses?
      Shredding? I was giving constructive criticism....it is how we improve on our skills etc. I did not 'shred' anyone... however, the video makes this MORE complicated, not less. I thanked them for hints that did work, but this was more of a timewaste than a help....
      And as a matter of fact, I am a TH-camr... I have a cooking channel, and I appreciate any constructive criticism, in fact, I asked for it, especially when I was first starting out. So, since I am a creator, I thought I would give some suggestions on making the videos better...
      Have a lovely day!! :)
