It's so nice that you're willing to live in a HDB, and getting close to the locals. Take your time to explore the neighbourhoods and the local habits. Enjoy!

I hope you both get a good deal for the HDB flat, cheaper option apart from eating at local hawker centers and food court, you can go to supermarket to buy your own stuffs and cook at home. Perhaps your Neighbours are kind enough they may cook somethings for you to welcome you both and learn our local culture. Can't wait for your new adventure here in Singapore. And hope you like the new home. Cheers!🤗✌

I think the telok blangah and tiong bharu places look pretty good! They look well maintained, renovated recently, relatively close to the central but not too close. Glad you both choose Tiong bharu in the end! It is a very nice Neighbour hood with good food and convenient to the other amenities in the city. Hope you guys have a good stay there 😊

If you are able to afford the flat rental, everything else are a breeze in Singapore.Public transport is probably the best & reasonable in the region. Cosmopolitan food choices that is safe and hygienic. Best of all, you have a wide choice of quality and prices. With good neighbours, you'll have a blast learning Singlish. Of course, anywhere in the world is within easy reach, with very good flight connections. Even skipping to Malaysia (Peninsula) or Thailand, via road, is easy except during public holidays. But, that is because many Singapore residents have the same idea at 1/3rd cheaper with a slightly higher chance of an upset stomach, tho!
    Enjoy your stay in Singapore!

glad you find and live like most locals in HDB... go find different hawker center to find your fav food. Rent may be high but you save on food and public transportation (don't use uber or grab). Enjoy. Also save money by going to wet market to buy your grocery etc. People forget your access to clean water and healthcare is also important. As long as you don't spend money on cigarette, liquor or owning a car, everything else is reasonable and affordable.

I think for a whole apartment it is still in a good range in hdb, dependable on the size and no. Of rooms. Good to explore more to see options. The rental market is alright right now unlike almost a year back where costs are reviewed and increase.
Hmm there are also other options with the likes of uptrending co-living such as Cove Living, Coliwoo, Lyff and etc. and they do have ensuite private kind of rooms in condos, terrace and shophouses. Just that the size might not be as big as HDB.
So in the end its abt what u looking for in a place to live in. Size vs Quality vs Location. Have fun hunting guys

U can also cook since u have a fully equioed kitchen. No need to buy a lot of stuff to weigh u down. N u can take public transport safely even late at night. I even sleep at d airport when my flight is early. Taxi is too expensive. Id suggest marketing at fairprice. Theres cheap stuff at valu$ but parallrl imports n not too healthy selection. Good for treats. I just bought a dozen ritter choc for $1.95 each
