I hope when service improves for the Surfliner, they'll be able to add more trains to the timetable north of LA. They could go with a few more trains to and from Goleta and this station, especially to here even if the addition of 799 was back along with when they get new coaches. How would an idea of trains like these north of LA sound to you Brent?
    Northbound:
    1. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 799 (1799 on weekends) - Los Angeles Union Station to San Luis Obispo
    2. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 1761 (weekend/holiday only train) - Downtown San Diego to Goleta
    3. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 763 - Downtown San Diego to San Luis Obispo
    4. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 767 (1767 on weekends) - Downtown San Diego to Goleta
    5. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 771 (1771 on weekends) - Downtown San Diego to San Luis Obispo
    6. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 777 - Downtown San Diego to San Luis Obispo
    7. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 781 - Downtown San Diego to Goleta
    8. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 785 - Downtown San Diego to San Luis Obispo
    9. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 789 - Downtown San Diego to Goleta
    Southbound:
    1. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 768 - Goleta to Downtown San Diego
    2. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 774 - San Luis Obispo to Downtown San Diego
    3. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 778 - San Luis Obispo to Downtown San Diego
    4. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 782 - Goleta to Downtown San Diego
    5. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 786 - San Luis Obispo to Downtown San Diego
    6. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 792 (1792 on weekends) - Goleta to Downtown San Diego
    7. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 796 - San Luis Obispo to Downtown San Diego
    8. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 798 (1798 on weekends) - San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles Union Station

Service north of Goleta towards San Luis Obispo is still hard to justify increasing the frequency but it would be nice for sure to see more trains !

Great video of the San Luis Obispo Amtrak Station area, the railroad museum and my favorite Amtrak trains-The Coast Starlight and the Pacific Surfliners on my favorite Amtrak route. I ride the Pacific Surfliners between San Diego, Los Angeles & Oxnard. I alternate my visits between Los Angeles & Oxnard when I’m home in the San Diego area for visits.

David Schieler For the Coast Starlight, it will make stops at Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Simi Valley, Burbank, and finally Los Angeles. For the Surfliner there are a number of stops on the way to L.A. including Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Oxnard, and Ventura, although you might want to refer to the timetable as there is a fair amount of stations to list.

Coast Starlight also stops at Van Nuys. Burbank is really Burbank Airport.
The Surfliner stops at San Luis Obispo. Grover Beach, Guadalupe, Surf Beach, Goleta, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo (sometimes), Moorpark (sometimes), Simi Valley, Chatsworth, Van Nuys, Burbank Airport, Glendale, Los Angeles, Fullerton, Anaheim, Santa Ana, Irvine, San Juan Capistrano, Oceanside, Solana Beach, Old Town, and San Diego.
So yeah, a lot more stops on the Surfliner.

Greyhound is a few dollars cheaper, but Amtrak has better class of people.. It's because you have to have valid ID to board..
