You hit the nail on the head. If it's a bucket list property, then go for it, otherwise a cheaper branded hotel will do for a place to sleep. The way I look at it is, if you spend too much time in your room, you're there for the wrong reason.
Mad respect to you, Mr. Brendan, for laying out the differences between cheap vs. luxury hotel properties. I would love to stay out at these more luxurious properties, but it's hard to do for me since I'm on Team Cashback and the fact that I'm a single working cashier, with a 566 credit score, barely making $30,000 a year before taxes.
Loved this comparison video! I’m looking closely at going with Hilton as my backup plan. Currently an IHG guy and outside of special occasions I am just fine staying with the Hilton brand hotel and it’s nice seeing that a Hampton Inn could also fit the bill for some road trips. As you said it’s the location I’m visiting that I value over the hotel itself. Thank you!
I love how honest you are in the video. I tend to not use my points on higher rated hotels, but that is because in many circumstances I am out and about and the hotel is only a place to sleep and maybe grab breakfast. I am curious did, either hotel have an amenities outside of free breakfast that is worth considering. Like a indoor/outdoor pool, shuttle service, bag storage or early/late check in? Did either give you an welcome points when you arrived?
I just got back from staying at a Hampton Inn in York. My room the exact same Frida picture and records on the wall 😀 The breakfast there was good, and the staff worked hard and was friendly
My husband and son stayed at that Dublin Hampton in April and 100% agree with you. They booked it for a steal of 36K points earned through a Hilton biz card SUB. They loved it.
I totally agree with what you said about All Inclusives being the destination but a hotel in Dublin is not. We've stayed at three different properties in Dublin and the Hyatt Centric for 12,000 points a night was a solid redemption, especially when we got an upgrade at check in and could use our free annual nights as well.
I prefer to use points for the actual travel (flights, trains, etc) but I am accumulating plenty of Hilton points for night stays during a big trip we're planning for next year.
As of now, we do not have one planned, but this would be a great idea for a short! We will add it to our ideas list 👍 We absolutely loved our time at SCHLOSS Roxburghe, though! So relaxing with the spa & lots of activities to do on the property.
@@DailyDrop I'll be staying there in about a month, also on points, and would love to know yalls recs for what to do, especially with respect to what is complimentary. (Or if there is something paid worth doing, what is the cost?) The other reviews/guides on TH-cam arent really that comprehensive. And i know this is probably catering to my situation too closely, but what would be the things to do if you only had 1 day there?
I been looking to get the capital one venture X card. Perhaps I get the venture card and then upgrade in a year or two? Does anyone know if this is possible? Would I be eligible to get 2 sign up bonuses? Love the channel. Learning so much. Thank you 🙏🏽
You should get the Venture card right now with its 75,000 bonus miles and the $250 credit. You can actually hold both the Venture and Venture X. Don't ever upgrade because you'll miss out on the sign-up bonus. Just get another card if you're eligible.

Mad respect to you for having the balls to give a realistic perspective on budget vs. luxury!
So glad you liked this video! Thanks for watching:)
Also the end monologue about using points to have more experiences is spot on. I love it!
Happy to hear that you agree 🤗

Absolutely! Sometimes it depends on the location & the type of trip you want to have (slow paced vs. fast paced). Everyone has different preferences!
Would love to see a similar breakdown from you guys with Hyatt and IHG properties. Great work here!
Great suggestion! We will add this to our video ideas list 👍
Please do Hyatt would love to see Vienna version

Awesome video as always Daily Drop Crew.
Appreciate it!

So great to hear! We were definitely shocked by how great the Dublin Hampton Inn was.
I prefer luxury flights vs hotels. I love to show up at a hostel and tell my fellow travelers how I arrived on a flatbed business class flight.
Haha love that! Can’t beat a lay flat business class seat!
You never really said what the thing you like at Hampton inn over the Conrad.
I was wondering what those were too. Maybe a pool? I think he said the Conrad didn't have one.
You're not just some random guy! You have a lot of experience and a good track record for accuracy.
Haha thank you for this!
I like this video, but your background music is way too loud throughout the whole video.
Thanks for the feedback. We will keep this in mind for future videos.
I'd have loved to see the "free" breakfast at the luxury place - what was included at the cheaper Hilton looked amazing.
Unfortunately, the luxury hotel didn’t include a free breakfast unless you had a certain status with Hilton.

Our family stayed at the Hyatt Centric in Dublin as well and had a great experience! Certainly a lot of options to choose from there.

Totally fair! You can get some great redemption values on flights!
If you're going to look for a cheap option to compare, don't work within the Hilton chain!! All of their stuff is at least moderate.
True! They are a very consistent brand!
Is Faredrop still on Summer sale?
Unfortunately this sale has ended!
I like hilton hotels, I just stayed at one and had an issue they gave me points for my problem.
Hilton is great & even better if you have status!
1.27CPP for a Hilton booking is fantastic considering the average is like .4-.5CPP
Edit: Oh wait that was based on the Amex MR points
It's a bit deceiving. And doesn't seem worth it, especially since he brings up the value of Amex points at 5 to 10 cpp
Do you guys have a review coming out on the SCHLOSS Roxburghe?
As of now, we do not have one planned, but this would be a great idea for a short! We will add it to our ideas list 👍 We absolutely loved our time at SCHLOSS Roxburghe, though! So relaxing with the spa & lots of activities to do on the property.
