Even though i prefered it to be a DLC to expand the lore of the already gigantic story of the main game, i liked that it's not exactly canon but a Spin-off. It allows them to explore more characters and mechanics that would previously be hard or even impossible to make in the main game. Not to mention that is seems to have the same "Base Roots" of the main game but in some sort of alternate reality/universe of Elden Ring as if it was a multiverse.
Ishizaki "so, boss, I have this crazy idea for a game, you know, there was this randomizer mod for Elden Ring, and seamless co-op too, and some cool crossovers with Dark Souls..." Miyazaki "DO AS THOU WILT"
I suppose that this is one of the games that doesn't involve miyazaki, as he mentionned earlier this year, which is fine, it is a spin off, I see it like a hyrule warriors so I'm curious
This is exactly how the Kirby Scholars of old felt after the True Arena dropped. An alternate "what if" story, where the events taking place aren't necessarily canon, but the old lore will be shared.
Everything is blue, therebefore Ranni's ending is canon is not hat hard folk edit: Nah seriously, altough I do look foward to this since its seems to be inspired by the community's reception of mods that integrates mechanics from previous game or seamless co-op, Its kind of a letdown that it won't take the Elden Ring continuity seriously and will just reuse characters and lore from previous games
Some observations I had: The giant door they walk through at the end, to presumably face the Nightlord.. I'm pretty sure that's the same giant sealed door we see in several locations in Dark Souls 1, namely in the boss arenas for the Centipede Demon in Lost Izalith and the Iron Golem in Sen's Fortress. There appear to be several playable characters they showcased, and the interview says 8 characters: One with box-art Knight energy, who had the explodey stake-driver crossbow. One that is a heavy "winged knight", the one that did the flying leap to ground slam move, seems somewhat paladin/faith coded. A lightly dressed hunter that invokes the image of Lady Maria (dex build?). An interview somewhere mentions a magic user character, but I saw zero trad magic being cast in that trailer. The fourth knight looks like he's got goat horns, more barbarian and seems to be going strength. In the Nameless King scenes, there's a robin hood lookin ranger character running behind the hunter. We see them shortly later firing a bow shot at what i'm calling the young gaping dragon. Almost looks like he's wearing a Great Jagras pelt. Is the armored knight immediately following the Nameless King, the one who parries the curved greatsword from the omen guy.. Is that the Darkmoon Knightess or am I wearing tinfoil?
I have a feeling that the blonde guy with the dagger is Godwyn, or at least a version of Godwyn. Perhaps he was able to dodge the assassination this time, and the Shattering happened differently. Really hope so because Godwyn is the character we're sorely lacking on when it comes to the Erdtree family.
It’s going to be canon, it’s like how the realm of shadow works, it’s in its own realm parallel to the lands between and most likely takes place before the main game. If it’s not canon then what’s the point in investing in the story or even telling a story in the first place?
Absolutely canon! The nameless king was originally the storm lord but got his ass beaten all the way from the Lands between to Archdragon Peak by the Tarnished which is me btw.
I don't think it will be canon, but it might have some hidden lore that connects to some unresolved aspects of the game. Hopefully, it's going to be about the gloam eyed queen and the whole plot around death in Elden Ring.
@@GilbertVonArphostein As they talk about a Night Lord and we see a big Nox structure maybe we'll learn more about Nox and maybe, very maybe, something new about ds bosses like NK.

I think the fan reception would've been 100% better if they had immediately promise that they would update base Elden Ring with some some of the new equipments (mostly armor sets), followed by even more goodies if your Steam/PS/etc account shown you have brought/beaten the spin off. Then suddenly it felt really worth playing to most of the fans.

Oh, I missed that Velka statue! I'll be sure to give that a lookover. (My personal headcanon is that the GEQ is actually named Velka haha) And honestly, I think a vid showcasing all the asset reuse in Elden Ring from previous games would be an amazing resource, especially since it could make any and all lore/thematic parallels even clearer. Just because an asset was reused doesn't mean there was no thought at all behind reusing it, but I'm just preaching to the choir :P
@garrulousgoldmask Certainly worth checking out- behind the dog. I think it would be too, there is so much too it's kind of overwhelming.
