    I love how the horses react when you get the right spot for scratches. Reminds me so much of scratching my dog & her reacting to the best spots. Absolutely love your horses, they absolutely have the best dispositions. Thanks for sharing.

    Annie chomping away was the cutest and funniest thing ever.
    Also Meatball being like "who me?" every time he got in trouble was also hilarious.

    Sweetheart Annie 💕 boy she’s really filled out!! When her neck muscles up she’ll be all in proportion. She’s got quite a mature looking head I think. They’re all looking great, love roni’s droopy bottom lip, I used to flap my horses lip with my finger and say “bulb bulb bulb” lol. Bet she did a big mental eye roll. Aren’t they all just wonderful. I’ll send a scritchy scratch from NZ, please pass it on to them. 😁 stay well and happy all of you. X

    Thank goodness for bottoms! And withers that like scratches. We want to get close to our horses not just coz it's nice, but also because we need to. Just to keep them healthy there can be need to force care on them which is horrid if touch is not accustomed. A liitle of what they like mixed in with ears, mouths and tummies etc makes these lessons more palatable and fun.
    I'm curious how my new friend, a little skinny yearling is super shy on his front end, face and neck, but the other day allowed his butt end to be stroked and scratched. Amazing. Then he allowed his back to be scrubbed, a little rub to his tum and then the wither. So brave! Now he will sometimes manage a little scrub between the eyes but he's still super wary. He says leave my nose alone! Although we can blow kisses. We humans imagine saying hello to the face is the right way, but it feels like the back end is more comfortable for them. I'm wondering is being in their face quite intense? Or is it something to do with their blind spot? Or is it simply we humans make good scratching posts?

    • @StableHorseTraining
      @StableHorseTraining  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think for a horse new to it, it can seem like a dangerous thing due to their eyes, ears and mouth being there, all things they need to survive. No easy way to defend either. In time though, they love it and it's one of the best ways to make a friend.

    A lot of cats will do this when you scratch the back at the base of the tail. Although some will bite if they get too stimulated. Does a horse ever get over stimulated from scritches?

    I still remember the time that Lina was unfortunately nipping at one of the boy's ankles and he ended up kicking her in the mouth. I felt so bad for her, but at the same time - she had to know something was going to come of her antics. Today Lena is not wanting to share any attention she is getting with anyone else - especilally when the co-trooming was going on. I think you had Gracie and the white horse (I'll remember her name eventually) - it didn't go too badly, but maybe with more tries maybe something will develop. Gracie seemed interested enough.Gracie has come a long way with the other horses. She can be full of surprises even now.
