I’m building a 80’ track to circle my living room on a shelf. I just got the USA Train Dockside locomotive which is heavy (10 lbs). They also sold me the USA Trains 4amp transformer. I’ve tested it.. and the locomotive runs fine but it takes about 1/2 throttle to get it rolling. Once rolling.. it works great. Is this normal? Or did they sell me an underpowered transformer? I’m only planning to run one locomotive and pulling maybe 4-5 cars.
I have the standard 1 amp power supply and find the engines cannot pull more than 3 cars up a small incline on the curve. 5 amp transformer will give engine alot more power? I only run 1 train. Lgb stainz engine. Also have a New Haven Diesel with 8 wheels and it barely has any power on the 1 amp transformer. Novice to all of this so any help will be appreciated
Got a question. Do u have any ideas what went wrong with your old ones. I'm considering buying one of these? Since MRC quit making there control master 20s
I am putting together a layout close to the one you have in this video, I am going to run two G scale locomotives at the same time, and I got me a 5amp transformer, will that be enough power?
A 5 amp can run 2 small loco's but not 2 big engines, and you could still burn it out if the lay out is to large. if the transformer can't handle it, the trains will stop and if you turn down the throttle and up again and they go, stop running cause that's a sign it's going to burn out.. trial and error.
@@thebackyardrailroader ok thanks, I will just run one engine and see how it goes, the layout will be about 2.5 meters long. If it goes well, I will get a tender with sound. The transformer and the engines are from LGB.
Hey new toy to play with. Sounds like your 3D printer was buzzing away in the background somewhere. Guess you have a spare controller unit which you can use as well somehow. You are all ready to run trains outside in the springtime. So you are in winter time now with ice and snow. Next time give us a quick view of the snow. We had a patch in southern England a few weeks ago (thanks for your comment on my video) but not like I guess you get in the winter time. Take care, and thanks as always for your video. W :)

what would make the G scale power not work all of a sudden but the N scale dial runs my N scale trains?
sound like the g to n nob is faulty
Can anyone tell us what the bottom dial is for on the hand controller. Be most helpful. Thanks
it's the brake
speed up or slow down the momentum or running

Have you extended the cable to a 50ft cable yet I am having some problems finding the right cable any suggestions?
I'm using a 50' ft phone core from a convenience store and it works great
