I got one nearly a year ago and its a good console experience with the fast loading and improved performance, also the increased immersion from the DualSense and 3D audio. Astro's Playroom was surprisingly fun
I absolutely love my PS5 but that's hilarious that you taped an external to the side 😅honestly I would reinvest in a Seagate Fire Cuda SSD that's the one I use and it's blazingly fast and saves a lot of games
I use the 2tb version, great drive.
The stand is less complicated than it seems but it does require a screwdriver. You can use it to make the system stand vertical or horizontal. Weirdly, in horizontal mode the stand fits into that slanted spot where you taped your hard-drive so it'll be stable when you lay it down.
So far I like the system. The way it runs and the speed feel great, really responsive. Personally love the controller as well. Probably my second favorite controller at this point. One thing I really DON'T like though, is the system interface. The menu's are really convoluted.
Recently got a series X in addition to the PS5 and I think I like the simplistic design of the Series X more and the packaging for the console is second-to-none.
I need to look into that stand a bit more 😋👍
Also the newer models has a thumbscrew for the stand instead so you don't need a screw driver with those models
Have to disagree with you on the menu interface and UI's between the Playstation & Xbox consoles. I like the Playstation's WAY better !! The menu system on the Xbox is confusing and convoluted to me. Most of the time I can't find what I'm looking for on Xbox where the PS is simple to understand & navigate. I do like my Xbox alot don't get me wrong, but the menu system could use an overhaul.

@@TheActs2021I've had it for a year maybe and still struggle to do simple things like leave a voice chat party. And closing a game is like a 5 button process. I'm sure I'll eventually get used to it but it's not doing it for me yet.
Woohoo, congratz getting a PS5, I was lucky to get mine 2 months after launch and loved it, I wasn't a fan of the style either, but once I put the midnight black plates on and stood it vertical.....omg, loved it
same! I can never go back to PS4 with 30fps games yuck. The good graphics and frames made me get used to it I can't go back to PS4 games unfortunately lol
I went from PS4 Pro to PS5 and it just doesnt feel like a big jump. Also for those people that havent gotten a PS5 yet. Dont. There arent many games that are PS5 only. I have had this PS5 for about a year and I can say, I play mostly PS4 games on it. Theres just nothing out right now that makes it a must have.
I actually think it’s extremely SHOCKING that Ps5 has been out for 2 years , most can’t even get 1 yet and even more shocking, there’s no games. Like 2 years and hardly anything. It’s a complete joke.
@@grahamkelly8662 I was thinking I'd like to upgrade this xmas to PS5 I cant believe going into year 3 of this console and I can't walk into a store and buy one. I no it's not the retailers fault but really should Sony have launched this console when they knew this situation with the chips. I wonder why there is not more backlash about tbh. Still have my ps 4 pro anyways thank God.
I finally scored one too a couple of weeks ago. I asked this shop owner if he could help me out and he said to call at 12:00 on a Thursday. It was also with Horizon Forbidden West and a controller
In Horizon it's time to admit you aren't any good at it: you've been stuck at 13 hours for 2 months. You don't have to do the Cauldrons (the climbing puzzles unless you want machine overrides). And you're probably not using your focus to show you everthing.

U can tell these ppl that make videos are usually not true gamers & make sensationalist videos for views…..they have more time trying to edit their youtube video than trying to familiarize themselves with the game they are reviewing on youtube….no one takes the time to truly immerse themselves in games anymore….every game now is a speedrun or a critique….no one plays games to jus play games anymore…..i bet today’s gamers dont even know the name of videogame composers…..like, are gamers hardcore anymore!? I bet gamers today cudnt name the composers for dragon quest or final fantasy! Its koichi sugiyama & nobuo uematsu, respectively btw….

I managed to get one in June, I asked the shop when they will get more in and he said we have some in but that they wont put them on the shelves or on their website as scalpers keep getting them and only tell people they have them when they ask. To be honest I don't think its a massive improvement on the PS4 if I am honest, but I finally got one :).
I got my PS5 disc version on launch day! I got lucky and received the email from Sony to buy directly from them.
I actually like the design of the PS5. Maybe that's cause I saw the dev kits first and didn't like the design. So when they revealed the PS5 design, I was just glad it wasn't the same as the PS5 dev kit.

I've had mine since launch. It's been almost 2 years since it launched and I couldn't recommend someone to buy it right now unless they are rich. There's just not enough exclusive experiences
I'd recommend it based on the fact that theres lots of PS4 games now that are upgraded on PS5 on top of the PS5 exclusives the console has. Basically whatever they're playing on PS4 we're playing the better version of it.
I just got mine a few weeks ago and to be completely honest I agree with you. I've mostly been playing upgraded ps4 games, there's a few games out that I'm going to get but there's just not enough out there at the moment to justify the expense.
The stand works for the horizonal placement, that's how you stop it from wobbling. The box includes a little drawing of how to place it ^^ That's how I was able to place mine. Much love!
Using the stand in the horizontal position is terrible... it doesn't stay on well and easily becomes unstable.
There are vastly superior aftermarket horizontal stands for the PS5 available on Amazon and elsewhere that are just worlds better.

I have a PS4 Pro with a 2TB SSD. Still performs very well and is sufficient for my needs right now. Will upgrade once they release an updated model which will hopefully be black, smaller and more compact. Don’t see this happening for a while yet though considering Sony is trying to sell all those colourful faceplates…
I like the design of the series X so much more. I can't wait for the ps5 slim. It's gotta be better, because it can't get worse. Also assassin's Creed origins just went to game pass so imma try it.
the internal design of the Series X is also very cool. The mini fridge design just reminds me of the SFFPCs I'm very fond of.
Dude the shitBox looks like a plain black shoe box that might have-dirty Nikes in it with no real good 1st party games the ps5 has a swagger to it with plenty of 1st party games worth buying
I have both systems I wouldn’t brag about either right now because games aren’t too impressive on either system they each have their own pros and cons
@@jessepike3565 I own a PC and then realized I didn't need the Series X, that's why the Series X has a dust cover, it's basically never on. The games that are available for the Xbox are also available for the PC.

Got this thing two years ago - played Spiderman and some PS4-Games. Been waiting for any interesting game since - didn't come so it's just used as a 4k-Bluray-Player.
I didn't realize the PS5 was so gigantic. My uncle generously bought me one and it's expected to be here in a couple of weeks. I'm already rearranging stuff in my mind on my tv stand.

Such a fun video. Brilliant idea taping the hard drive to the side. my old hard drive would slide off the table if i moved my system slightly by ejecting the game. Love my PS5, but keeping my PS4 Connected for games I play on my Vita.
I’m loving Horizon FW but yeah it has such a slow start. I like the writing of the tutorial as to why it’s happening, but that starting area & the original area before you get past the gate into the actual Forbidden West is definitely not as good as ZD or the rest of FW.
There is an option under visual I believe to always highlight the grips on the walls as to what’s climbable.

I've had my ps5 for a year, certain things can improve but what console is perfect anyway? All I honestly care about are the games! Features, controllers, services etc, ok cool great but it's all about games for any console period! Nice review!

Don’t bother charging the controller as soon as you get the low battery warning. It lasts for hours after this. Just wait until it fully dies. The game that you’re playing will normally pause (unless you’re playing dark souls or Elden ring etc) when it dies so there’s no need to worry about that

I got my PS5 last week too (i have all the major consoles now: XSX, NS and now PS5, its kinda for my work) and I do agree with many points that you're making. The first thing that hits you is just how YUGE ps5 is! The stand is difficult too. I have my console horizontally and I had to adjust the stand many times before i got it right and playstation was standing firmly. The controller feels nice to me - vibration is great and definitely best of all the controllers i have and haptic triggers are at least an interesting gimmick. That being said I really do love my XSX and if i was to choose between the two I'd go with XSX.

The haptic trigger and overal feel of the dual sense is great, but the battery performance is kinda sad, and my version 1 has stick drift.. Newer versions wouldn't have this problem, there's a video on how to recognise the bar code for the newer model or just get the latest fancy color.

The size and design of the ps5 is an issue, it's so obstructive and obvious and it doesn't fit in any of the shelves on my TV unit. Not a dealbreaker but it's definitely an annoyance.

Now that you have a PS5, and if your TV supports it, you should make sure to turn on the new VRR feature. Some games will perform and run significantly better when you switch to 120hz
I must be in the minority bc I love the PS5’s design. I think it looks modern & artistic, like what would happen if Picasso had designed a console lol. I’m not one to customize electronics usually, but Sony’s new faceplates are awesome too. Maybe the other colors would help you like it more? I have Sony’s black faceplates & Dbrand’s light-covering vinyls in pink. Looks sick. Can’t wait for Sony’s pink ones too.

While I am a big fan of the Horizon series, I agree 100000% that the climbing is "clunky" and I think it's the game engine they are using. Great to hear finally got the PS5 and I am with you on the....waiting for a PS5 Slim please, Sony!

Got 2 Day 1 for me and my son ,due to lack of PS5 only use of power games he traded it for a tattoo sleeve and I have reboxed it waiting for PSVR2 to come out. I've been playing my switch and Xbox Series X the whole time

i felt the same about forbidden west, i loved the first one but this one was just ok, i wanted to 100% it but halfway through it i just gave up and did story missions to finish it. I too got stuck in one of those stupid caves for hours and had to watch a tutorial. I just stayed out of them once i got out
Until recently I've never considered the ps5, just cause of the lack of games. Only ones I want that are currently out is demons souls and returnal.
But after thar plays of play and those games they showed, I'm actively looking for one now

@@PrisonMike117 idk the game developers community all agree that ps5 is the easiest console of the 3 to develop for….and development time for games have been gr8tly reduced bcuz ps5 development kits are top-of-the-line…..so a game that wud normally take 5 years wud only take 2 to 2 1/2 years to make…..no cap….look it up on the internet
Thats why i believe the aforementioned games in my earlier post will come out those times….and i also believe metal gear solid 1 remake , star wars knights of the old republic remake, ghost of tsushima 2, socom US navy seals 2, psvr 2 exclusives, last of us part 1 remake, & hogwarts legacy will also be coming out in the coming years….

Congrats on the pickup. As some mention, the included stand should help with stabilizing the console in whatever configuration you want to set up your system. Also, don’t forget to add the PlayStation Plus Collection titles to your profile. There’s some great titles available in the collection that you might not have in your digital collection.
On a side note: Please play through Astro Playroom. It’s more than a demo of the system and is an awesome title that highlights the history of PlayStation. I was able to play it with my family and we had a great time together. The kids still go back to some of the levels from time to time.

Honestly, I love the PS5 and for me, it comes down to the controller. The Dual Sense is easily my favorite controller of all time. I would highly recommend Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Bugsnax, Demon's Souls, and Scarlet Nexus for some good Dual Sense support.
Returnal is the best next gen game to be. 3D headphones and dual sense are perfect with it.
I love the ps5 controller too. It fits my hands perfectly. I love the X, O, Square, Triangle texture too, it feels nice.
Only thing I hate is that unlike the DualShock4, the R1 & R2 are connected as well as the L1 & L2. Who thought that was a good idea? I like the controller other than that.
And if it was maybe even 90-95% of its size, it'd be the perfect size; it's a bit big for no reason.

My first system was Atari 2600. It was a hand-me-down from my grandmother. My second system was NES. After that Sega Genesis Core. It was 1995 that I got my PS1 and I've been with Sony ever since. Now...I almost feel like taking up knitting.

Wow. We have taken an identical route to video gaming. I’ve gotten other systems after my PS1 but I do have all five PlayStations and every Nintendo. Due to the fact that we’ve started the same then I feel I should test out knitting too. Thank you for the recommendation lol

Growing up with mostly Playstation I really love the controller positions of the Analog sticks. I actually am the opposite and dislike it in the Xbox position lol. My hands are just so used to them both in the middle. I honestly wish face buttons and shoulder buttons were universal though and that all consoles used the same ones lol. To this day X will always be the bottom button for me. I hate it when I switch to Nintendo then X is top face button, then Xbox and it's left face button lol. AAH.
Also, I know I am kinda the minority here, but I actually love the design of the PS5 (just not the size). The size is ridiculous lol. If they slimmed it down it would be great and made it all black with a subtle little blue line of light like they already have. You can as you say buy the new plates though but there should be an option by default to have it all in black. As most TV's are black and other consoles so this thing will just be a massive eye sore!
I always have to look at the Switch and xbox controller to remember where x is lol and Y,. Love the PS5 controller
@@MrJHarley17 haha yup. After 10 years I am finally a bit more familiar with the xbox controller but I still don't know nintendo ones lol. I try to ignore learning them now on purpose though. I just mentally convert it on the spot in my head haha. Once I know what a button in a game corresponds to on the position of a PS controller I am just like right ok "top face button i.e Triangle" lol. I think of everything in PS buttons. I know most people these days are probably thinking that way of the xbox controller instead but as PS came out first and then all rpgs were always on PS, I never really got used to xbox until much later in life and if I had my way everything would be universal to the PS buttons lol

I love seeing all the GUST and Compile Heart Games come up on the home screen; I'll be doing the same thing with GUST if I get a PS5. It'll be interesting too see how both Ryza games as well as both Blue Reflection games run and look on the PS5. Also have a great Birthday. :D

There's no way the ps5 hardware would fit in those imaginary designs. Even if they do slim it down in the future, it won't be that slim.
Never say never. Since the PS2 Sony had a large design and then a slim design.
Thanks for making this video! It's crazy to think that after all this time, we still can't just walk into a store and buy a PS5. Crucially, I've seen XBOX Series X and S in stock at retailers at least three different times since release, and I've never seen PS5s on a store shelf. I was fortunate enough to get one this January during a Walmart+ online promo here in the States. They sold out in less than two minutes! If PS4's weren't bringing stupid money at the time, I wouldn't have gone to the trouble of getting a PS5 because of the high cost and the low number of PS5-specific games. I sold my PS4 1TB Slim for $350 US, and the PS5 was $499. IDK if the market is still that hot for used PS4s, but you might want to think about selling it rather than packing it away. (I had no idea until I was chatting with some folks on a random TH-cam livestream.) Just a thought. Also, I've just got to say that I think you are 100% correct when you say that Horizon: Forbidden West is basically the same game as Horizon: Zero Dawn. I don't think I've ever experienced a sequel video game that felt so much like DLC in my life. I'm a huge Horizon fan, but the sequel missed the mark for me in ways both known and indescribable. My take on the ps5: love the controller (except the triggers for fighting games), hate the console design, love speed, hate the menu interface, love the games. Overall i love the it and it makes for a good BluRay player and Netflix machine for my mum
I really enjoy your reviews. I agree with you on the look of the PS5, but I do like the games and speed of the system. You will want to add an NVME drive to expand the storage though, as it fills up really quickly. I am looking forward to more game reviews for the PS5. Take care.

Xbox series X= rectangular Gaame cube.
PS5 digital = smaller Router
Xbox series s= Bluetooth Speaker.
space should not be an issue at all let me explain how to use storage wisely. You decide which games you want to play the next day. before you go to bed you download the games you want to play and put the system in rest mode and go to sleep. When you wake up all your games will be ready to play. No need for extra space just delete and install.
@@jbrink1789 thank you for the explanation, but I know how to delete and install games. More storage is more convenient and the games are only getting bigger. Also, with how bad sony's downloading/copying setup is, it becomes an annoyance.

However, I decided not to even try buying it. I have a PS5 at work, that's enough for me. Switch has all I need for new gen gaming.
The reason I subscribed is your love of gaming. Not just a specific system. I wish we could unite all systems and create the ultimate gaming experience. I understand the barriers. But, one day.

@Ircha Gaming, congrats and welcome to the PS5 family! I love my PS5. Not liking the design of the console but what it can do is amazing! I'm 67 hours into Horizon FW and still not close to the end. I also have alot of backlog games and just bought Tiny Tina on PS5. Enjoy. I was lucky enough to get a Sony invite to buy a PS5 a few months ago.

I got mine day one... and I haven't been all that thrilled with it. Most of my time last year was PS4 games (mostly FFXV and 13 Sentinels).
I'm pretty sure if it was my ONLY platform, I'd probably be happier with it. I agree that it's ugly. And I have a lot of other (negative) stuff to say, but I'll just leave it at that. But I'll also add that I don't like the direction PlayStation itself is going.
And what direction is that?

Thank you for this review, it was cathartic in a way. I couldn’t agree more. I have had my PS5 since launch and I absolutely love it but the design, the large controller for my small hands, the stand that makes no sense, and the external hard drive situation have been really frustrating.
I died when I saw your external taped to the outside. Seriously, you might be onto something. The design is ugly enough that I won’t be ruining the look by taping both my externals( I will need to add a 3rd soon) to it and it would be easier to just unplug from one and plug into another.
I will always hope they start taking us into more consideration when making consoles and games.

They are taking "us" into consideration. The heat sink is huge due to engineers wanting to reduce fan noise and the amount of heat output from the apu. Would you rather it sound like a jet engine or break down due to poor thermals?
@@justwait9822 I wasn’t referring to the system but the size of the controller. 42% of gamers are woman who tend to have smaller hands. There are also kids, teens, and some men with smaller hands. All I personally would like is to be able to buy a official PS controller that is smaller so I can comfortably play.
2 things can exists at the same time. It is possible to understand that this might well have been the most functional design for a long lasting machine and really dislike the design at the same time. Thanks for the mansplain though.

The only reason I don’t regret getting a PS5 is it’s hard to get and at least I can play PS5 games if I want to.
If it was possible to buy them at a store all the time I’d regret buying it a year ago. Forbidden West was quite good but they were very heavy handed with the girl power messaging. But unlike the original I haven’t gone back to it since completing it.
GoT is the best game I have played for the PS5.
I use my switch OLED and Oculus Quest 2 far more than my PS5 and Series X.
Im looking forward to Mario Strikers on the switch this week. Then there is Xenoblade 3 coming.
Hopefully PSVR2 is good. I’ll be happy I got the PS5 if that’s the case!
In what way was it "heavy handed?" Because there were... women in it? Gamers are weird.
I have both, the PS5 and Xbox Series X and, not hating, but I have to say the Xbox is superior hardware wise and on some software aspects as well. Xbox design is nicer, the controller is more comfortable to use and is a bit faster. On software, Xbox had VRR from day 1 I believe, 3d audio is superior and quick resume is killer! I am now getting 3rd party games on Xbox and the PS5 only for exclusives.
I've enjoyed advanced haptics since Switch introduced them, but between DualSense stuff and Quick Resume support, I'll absolutely choose Quick Resume support.
Playing Elden Ring with Quick Resume was amazing. (I didn't like online ER because of the messages spoiling everything, and/or the bad recycled jokes).
@@EdwardViaTomato The PS5 advanced haptics are cool for a bit. I played Uncharted and I liked them at first and then I found them kinda distracting how the triggers behave. Cool technology though.
Eldin Ring, Final Fantasy 7 intergrade, and Gran Turismo are some great titles to play.

You speak the brutal truth about the hideous design. It's a competent machine, but I got a Series X instead. I love that sleek little monolith very much, and I just have absolutely no desire to get a PS5. It will take some incredible exclusives to get me on board this time.
I'm right there with ya bro. Can we all just be real and call it hideous finally!?! Lol I didn't think I wanted to get a Series X, but I finally broke down and got one when all the PS5s were sold out and for the hell of it I placed both PS5 and XSX in cart and lo and behold it was still there when I went to order and just said efff it and bought one. Wasn't easy to get either, man, but I'm glad I did, It looks better then my old PC Tower, and I'm liking the controller. My PC had way more options for everything I think, and the XB clunky UI sucks. It does, my Steam Library was perfect.
However, I'm getting used to it, I realized you can pin everything to your desktop screen and I can finally access the settings tab.UGH..lol. No, but now I'm pretty satisfied with my Series X and the controller, and everytime I see one of those god awful looking abominations of a PS5 I lol a bit. I think I still want one but yeah, I'm holding out for a slim version and better exclusives. I'm not a Spidey guy nor a HZD shooting robots with arrows guy. and they ruined TLOU series,\.But I'm going to want GOW at some point.
If you're buying a gaming console for the design then you're buying a console for the wrong reasons.

Spidey 2 with venom and carnage! Wolverine! Gow ragnarok! Ff16 & ff7 remake 2! Star wars knights of the old republic remake! Metal gear solid 1 remake! Ghost of tsushima 2! Psvr 2 exclusives! Socom US navy seals 2……too many gud games! And thats just those! There are more unannounced exclusives too….

The problem with these new generation consoles is that it is too early in game development. To really judge the experience or the content that's released on these new platforms.
All the games that are being released right now and up till this date were actually designed originally for the PS4/Pro and the Xbox One S / X. So the PS5 and Xbox series S / X games won't be much better than last gen.

This generation of consoles is the smallest leap in raw performance ever, 2x from the Pro versions, or 5x from the base consoles.
Most of this performance has been used to either double framerates or resolution. Maybe with FSR2.0, you will get some improvements in graphics down the road, but they will be very trivial compared to the past generations.
This is the same story on PCs, performance/$ has been bad or almost stagnant for the past 6 years.

I’ve had my ps5 for a year roughly. I put a terabyte memory with a cooler stick straight away. Best console for me. I also got the new Xbox, but can’t find a difference from the Xbox one

I put black side plates on mine. It improved the appearance 200%, and I swear the games play better too!

I saved up months in advance to get a ps5. Pre-ordered it back in September 2020. And it arrived on Christmas eve that year.

Taping an external hard drive to the side of your PS5, nice job MacGyver'ing it. The stand is confusing but if you fiddle with it, it does work well in either position. Also turn the lights on controller to dim. That should help battery life a bit.

Nice video. I always like to hear your opinions. PlayStation has always been my main console. Nintendo has always been my secondary console. This generation is the first time that I have also bought an Xbox. I only purchased the Series X so that I can play future Bethesda games. I paid way more for my PS5 than you did. I got it from Stock X when it was only a couple weeks old. Anyway, I look forward to more PS5 videos in the future.
I do not have problems with the design and bought two games for the system Judgment and Lost Judgment before even getting the console. The wait has been so long I can easily wait a few more years and buy a used one or buy the Pro version instead if that comes out. I have become a Xbox player these days and that feels bit strange. I was finally able to get a ps5 two months ago, and I also have a Nintendo switch and Xbox series x. I play all the exclusives and fighting games on the ps5. exclusives and non exclusives on the series x and nintendo switch exclusives only for my switch

My friend is playing thru New Game+ in Forbidden West. I joked that he can play thru it 10 times, the punchline is he actually just might!!! I currently own the XSX, but now that I've heard of the (maybe?)PS5 Pro coming, but if that comes out false, then I'll pick a PS5 up for sure! I'm a Nintendo fan foremost, but actually as I turned 43 last month (May 10th in 2022 as I'm typing this-and Holy peaches I'm old heh)and I moved out of my toxic group home into my own apartment with said friend(yay!)my games currently I'm actually paring down as I'm not playing a lot of them.
