Strategic thinking as well, and keeping cool under pressure. The only major thing missing compared to gaming that I can think of is reaction time.
Lol, what you said is COMPLETELY different thing, don't compare actual athletes with esports.
@@delta22ization Yeah well, the part of the comparison that makes sense is the gap between regular people and the competitive top. The gap that these news reporters and interviewers completely trivialize with their comments, because they understand the physical gap involved in something like running, but not the skill gap involved in gaming.
What we really need is to put some of these people in a lobby with some top players, play a bunch of rounds, and see how absolutely dominated they will get on a consistent basis.

They make like 70 k per year and everyone needs to notice that sometimes you can win and get famous on TH-cam or twitch to be a streamer... it is insanely hard to get famous on those platforms so really it’s not a job unless you get extremely lucky. I mean most people who play do have a lot of skill like A LOT but you need to realize that it isn’t a job. Mad respect to esports gamers because I would like to call myself a gamer but I don’t think I’ll ever get noticed for anything no matter how much I play. Those sport athletes get a contract which gives them a monthly pay check not just getting 3 m and not getting payed anymore. 3 mill is A lot don’t get me wrong but it isn’t a job. A job is something in which you get paid monthly or weekly this dude more so one the lottery but not necessarily luck, he won it with skill and that’s what gaming is. It’s the lottery. After I finished reading plenty of comments here, I seriously question why you neets or weebs are getting triggered so hard by the adult faction not respecting pro gaming. I am young (20 years old) and play a lot of video games daily too, also on a fairly high level in certain competitive games such as Dota (which is arguably the hardest competitive game of all time), I played Quake, UT, WoW, CS, SC, everything, so I am not biased. The point that you all seem to not be understanding at all is following: gaming is not sexy. You can be as successful as you want in competitve gaming, for an onlooker it will always be very odd to perceive. If you break it down to the non-digital part, which often is just particles nervously flying around, it‘s tons of adolescent people of meager stature spastically twitching around with their hands on plastic equipment. It has no charme, no sex appeal, no class and no reason to be marketed. In my humbe opinion, it also doesn‘t help that most gaming athletes look like a dried aged steak after 4 days in the fridge when you open it at 2am. That being said, I think most CS:GO players are exempt from that prejudicial objective observation, since most of them are very attractive and give away a good aura objectively. You need to understand that there‘s more to life than money if it comes to success. Justin Bieber isn‘t the best musician isn‘t he? Right. It’s the same concept of these mid-life crisis struck men in their 40s riding around with their leased cars to feel accomplished or cool. Money doesn’t approve you, you can have millions and still be a fucking spastic (check out most young rappers). So stop dickriding your teen idols because they make your leisure time activity, namely masturbating multiple times daily in a juxtaposition to gaming in a darkened room on a 30 degree summer day, commercially viable. I know you feel approved, I know you feel a sense of semi-viability but this, this ain‘t it chief. Gaming will stick around obviously, especially casual gaming, but don‘t be mad for the boomer generation trying to maintain mentally sane values in society, for it‘s very important to also have youth that isn‘t just victim to the video game propaganda brainwashing like the rest. I hope I didn‘t step on anyone‘s feet with this objective accurate depiciton of modern‘s society number one‘s pet peeve. I want to add that physical competitions are often also completely filled with clowns like competitve gaming (CR7, Sergio Ramos, Neymar etc) so I think the equation between real sports and competitive gaming is pretty equal-sided and thus this card can‘t be pulled here. Cya on the rift, noobs.

You can’t compare esports to football or any other sport because athletes have to be on a strict diet, workout everyday, learn how to play with a team. And u don’t need to learn how to be a team player in video games because your not passing a ball, setting picks calling plays or actually doing anything your just each shooting at each other and telling each other if you see someone. Athletes also have to travel non-stop with little sleep, they all get injured or sore especially football players after being tackled by a 300lbs man who can bench 500lbs. On the other hand gamers can be 700lbs eat McDonald’s and drink Red Bull all day and still make millions when we have people in the military dying trying to save our country and they don’t make near as much as gamers do
That Kid Jesse ok jeez it was just an analogy or metaphor you don’t rly have to go into all the details
Alex Podger well.... you brought it up
That Kid Jesse Firstly, that’s why pro athletes get paid more. Sure, a Fortnite player won 3 million dollars, but that’s a one time payment, and only because he got first place. Secondly, you definitely DO need teamwork if you’re doing a team game, video game or not. You need coordination and practice to know how your teammates would react, their weaknesses, their strengths, etc. Additionally, there are many of solo sports (tennis, golf, etc.) that don’t need any teamwork. Nobody’s saying that gaming is nearly as physically demanding than sports. Regarding how people in the military don’t get paid as much, (1) there’s a reason gamers make more money (refer to the vid’s analogy with teachers), and (2) many people in the military (not all of course) only enlist because they need the money (or food, housing, education, etc. that’s provided), not because it’ll help their country. Also it’s foolish to think these people are dying to “save our country”. They’re dying for the businesses that want resources from foreign countries, but that’s another topic entirely (and shouldn’t really be brought up in this debate, since it’s unrelated).
@@_levischafer1373 well i was on board with you until you expressed a shit ton of ignorance after your first statement. To be fair, Alex should have said chess player. No but it is honestly extremley mentally taxing to get into esports, unless you are lucky enough or skilled enough to get a streaming or TH-cam career alongside or caught the attention of sponsors, you will make little to no money, and as i said regarding someone saying that it is sad celebrities get paid more than people who have served. How they get paid is very different and should not be compared.
I love how they laugh at a dude that made more money in one day than them in 10 years.

@[GD] Annoe ah ok get it, but if you think about it, isn't that what getting more skilled at anything is? You will simply do it because you have been in that situation before and your body does it for you so you will win to that lower millisecond count, so ofcourse with practice a skill gets easier that's the very definition of getting skilled at something
