The commentary is all time
Yeah came to see what duckpin bowling was all about and stayed because of the commentary.
it's good i like it, calls a good game and keeps it interesting.
“No such thing as a bad Sunday.”
Amen!!! We need more people in our sport to adopt this attitude. I love it!!!!!
lol
"Cataracts are a bitch"...won't hear that kind of commentary in the PBA lol
Loved duckpins, bowled them in Burlington, Vt in the 70s. Had the pleasure of bowling duckpins, 10 pins and candlepins, loved them all
The commentary is excellent! Holy Crapola!
I love guys whose last names are things.
Great coverage showing the pin action on pin deck ! Enjoying your bowling alley from Delaware on July 11, 2022.
i'm in my 70's and have bowled candlepins my whole life and still league bowling. i got to try duckpins for the first time recently and really liked it, a lot more pin action and higher scores. maybe someday i'll get to try tenpin bowling. i like all kind of bowling but not sure of the new string bowling i've heard of.
I remember Duckpin bowling as a kid in Norfolk, VA, at Bowlarama Lanes. It was a lot of fun. Seeing Donnie leave a lily (5-7-10) on lane 13 made me smile a little, knowing that that split isn't exclusive to regular bowling.
I was a little kid in the early 1970s in Montreal, Canada. We loved to play duckpin. Now I am in Japan, it is unknown as far as I know. I have not played in years.
I stumbled upon candlepin bowling this morning and duckpin bowling tonight. This is just an easier version of candlepin bowling
I did my bowling in Smithfield, R.I. The place is gone today. Walgreen's was built on the spot. I also did some bowling at Town Hall Lanes in Johnstown. I'm in AZ now, so I miss Duckpin Bowling.
It misses you too!!!
Greetings from Woonsocket!
Johnstown? Cool. As a kid, my Dad took me to Troc-a-Rena Lanes (it burned down in 1970) in New Kensington to do duckpins, and as an adult, I've gone to the Knights of Columbus in Bellevue (they're open to the public a couple nights a week...or at least they were when I was going there).
Duckpins are great because as a 6 year old, I was able to throw the ball down the lane with somewhat normal speed, and with a little concentration, could keep it on the lane without the aid of bumpers. For a little kid, I think duckpins would be more fun than bumper bowling. I can remember, the very first time my Dad took me, one of the games I had was a 54...for a 6 year old, that's great. I'm guessing my other two games didn't add up to 54, but that's OK.
Looks like the koc Bellevue still has the rubberband duckpins which is awesome! Were the pins manually set or automatically set?
And the crowd goes crazy
Holy splits on lane 13!!!!!
I've never seen duckpin bowling before. Watching this makes me want to try it. I've had some high average ten pin bowlers tell me it's all luck. These multiple champions tell me different. FWIW, I can't believe the reset in the first frame. What in the world was he thinking?
Those 10 pin bowlers wouldn't even average 110 playing this. They hate it because they can't compete.
No, it's not luck. It's definitely skill. The big thing with duckpins is that a) There is less pin action than in tenpins, so strikes are rarer, and b) You've got practically no margin for error.
I carry about a 175 average, and if I had a dollar for every strike I've pulled out of my @$$ after I've hit the head pin straight on, I'd have been able to retire a lot sooner than I did. In duckpins, if you hit the head pin straight on, you carry the head pin, and the 5-pin....and that's it.
@@russs7574 This is so boring not being able to hook the ball
It’s fun.
@@russs7574 You carry a 175 average in duckpin?
Holy crappola that was surprisingly fun to watch. I'm from Louisiana and I didn't know this game existed until now. I like the pace.
Best announcer every!
So, if you make a 7-10 split you win a 1974 AMC Pace! I'd a least ask for a Vega. LOL.
What's the deal with only one frame at a time ?
Is it just to be different from candlepin bowling ?
Thank you in advance
I grew up in NH and was a hard-core candlepin bowler in Jr. High & High School in the mid-late 70's 🙂
Had a steady 118 ave. and a 164 high single (433 triple) ✌️🙂
I never heard of Duckpin Bowling, and then I caught a TH-cam video....... now I can't get enough of these vids
Thank you 🙂👍
Don got the breaks in the last game and none in this one. That's bowling in a nutshell.
muy bueno desde Argentina los miro
The lanes look straight out of 1982. Can the machinery handle regular pins, and candlepins too?
Thank you for your comment. We are authentic duckpin center 24 lanes of Sherman pin setters. They can't do 10 pin or candlepin. Establish 1952.
Every house is from the 70s they haven't made a single duckpin machine since that time
7:00 to 7:30 is a treat
Am I watching a sport or a Dr. Phil audition tape
You just know the eye surgery was the next day
They're using the old school projectors for scoring. I was in a league that still used those in the early 90s. You'd write on the glass plate with a grease pencil, and erase it afterwards with a damp cloth or paper towel. Once after a game, one of the kids was scuffing up the soles of his shoes with steel wool, and then he proceeded to erase the scores with the steel wool! He pretty much ruined the glass.
I dont et why people are hating on this. It seems fun to do as a 10 pin bowler
My Dad started me out on duckpins when I was 6 years old. It is a lot of fun, and I know I enjoyed it a lot more than I would have bumper bowling (which we didn't have when I was six). I little kid like I was can throw a duckpin ball down the lane with something approaching normal speed, and get some results....and for little kids, they do make balls with finger holes in them.
@@russs7574 oh cool!
Canadian 5 pin bowler here, I tried duckpin, most hilarious bowling ever, so much fun 😁
All the splits on 13 were from the 1-3 pocket.Steve’s strike was from the 1-2 side
Never seen this stuff before. I was a good duckpin bowler and played for around 20 years. I am just surprised how straight on they are for their first ball. And a lot of times the ball was fading away from the headpin. I am right handed and would come on a slight angle so the ball was pushing into the pocket.
ruthless pinfalls. this looks very difficult.
what kind of averages do duckpin pros like this have? in candlepins the pros have like 118 to 130 average.
this brings fear into my soul.
Holy… crap.
OHHHH My... If your any type of bowling enthusiast get your popcorn ready for the 16:23 mark!!!!
How many times can the announcer say "HOLY CRAP" !!
The commentator is hysterical. "I was closer to my second ex wife". And that pig latin gag....
The pig Latin and 2nd x wife joke love the anouncer
Never seen this sport. Do players bring their own balls (no pun intended) or are they all house balls?
Good evening. Yes most bowlers have there own duckpin bowling balls. Like most other sports we offer leagues and tournaments.
@@suitlandbowl thanks! Nothing like this on the West Coast. That’s unfortunate. Will watch more on TH-cam. Thank you for posting.
The 10 pin actually fell before the pin setter came all the way down. That pin should not have been replaced
In duckpin, once you have hit deadwood, any pin that falls has to be set back up.
good one string match.
I didn't hear a "stiiii...rike..rike..rike" so I don't think the big fella really was there.
Al Michaels: "Do you believe in miracles!"
Jack Buck: "We'll see you tomorrow night"
Vin Scully: "Here comes Knight and the Mets win it"
This guy @11:15: "Ho-ly crap"
I rather like this form of bowling. It's a pity it's wholly an Eastern Seaboard game as I'd enjoy throwing a few frames of this. The closest duckpin bowling establishment to where I live is in North Carolina, unfortunately.
Ray mumbles constantly throughout the show. Never understood a single word he said, but I helped him drink his wine.
I want to find out more about these cookies. What does the “Big Fella” think about these cookies?
Rule 511 or 512? Tournament play must be different.?
Bizarre that at this level there was only ONE strike in that game. In REGULAR bowling when its this skill level MOST of the shots are strike.
Alley's from the Flintstones era!
I can’t stay with this because of all the cataract talk.
Way quieter than a 10 pin alley
WTF did I just watch
Alot of mention of crap...
I hope your not triskaidekaphobic, because Lane 13 is showing her teeth.
Finals on a pro tour? Seriously I could have beaten both of them when I was 18.
these guys do not own anything
They own alot on pro tour stars.
What kind of comment is this? Flat ignorant
Sorry homies, but I'm a 10 pin bowler. Anyone in duckpin blaming the lanes for bad breaks is just out of their minds. You're heaving the ball 20 something MPH and there's very minimal hook, it's pure luck...not the lanes.
Obviously you have never bowled duckpin.
@@chipdayton1625 clearly... He said ten pin bowler.
@@Christarr Just because you are a ten pin bowler doesn't mean you haven't bowled duckpin. And in Ziggopotamus' case, it's obvious that he hasn't.
@@chipdayton1625 This is true. Most ten pin bowlers don't even look at duckpin. It's too hard for them.
