I had the privilege of listening to Andy quite a few times when he was in Cleveland. Outstanding musician, superb soloist and an all-around great guy. Every time I see him now on TH-cam or hear him on a recording, I'm always thankful I got to hear him live so many times.
I LOVE it! Rhythm changes ARE NOT Rhythm Changes. I Got Rhythm i s 34 bars long. not 32. Found this out in my first bebop gig when the leader said, "Rhythm changes," and glared at me when I added the tag. How the HELL should i know?
Rhythm changes are based on the changes from I got Rhythm, but almost all the tunes written over rhythm changes are 32 bars. When someone calls out rhythm changes, it will be 32 bars unless they say otherwise

I love Andy's playing, he reminds me a lot of a guy I play with in Albuquerque named Micah...same great ideas and solid development. Loved this cut!
I've watched this many times over the last few months. Somehow, his quirky movements help sell this solo.

Good tip. Good for you to jump on and play with more experienced players. Paying the dues, I guess.
Look there are many things that America does poorly, but luckily jazz is not one of them!
@@posaune45considering where jazz came from, I would certainly hope we do it right
What type of trombone is he using?
Looks like a Rath R3F or R4F
The kind with a slide.
pretty sure it's a custom BAC trombone
Rath R4F
It's his signature model Rath with silver bell (.525 bore, I believe).
