Is it essential to understand on-premises systems, or is experience with Microsoft on the cloud sufficient for roles within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem? Also, which certifications would you recommend prioritizing for someone focused solely on cloud-based solutions?

Experience with Microsoft Cloud is sufficient to get a role but knowledge of on-premises puts one at better advantage.
