nice blast from the past. They really need to continue the series.

I'd love to see a return in some form. It's really sad that most of the games are stuck on their systems.

You can easily play the old tenchu games. You buy the old consoles that can run them from a used store. (And a smaller TV. This is important to enjoy them without destroying your eyes).

Wrath of heaven and deadly shadows hold up extremely well. They look better than Z which I can confirm is eye destroying.

@@Harutjun honestly I go back every year to play it again. It's so bad but I love it

@goobula :) it's weird right, because it's pretty unique game maybe that's why not many games have good stealth

@@Harutjun it's crazy unique! Who doesn't want a ninja game where you make your own ninja? I'm not sure another game like that exists. Stealth has always been a hard sell in the gaming industry sadly. And it's a shame that Z feels like such wasted potential. Another 6 months in the oven and it could have been a hidden gem. Now it's just an entertaining oddity.

@@goobula yup it's tenchu and metal gear solid for me, no other franchises can do stealth properly like these games do.

Thank you, Im currently making a tenchu like game with modern hitman influence in UE5 and this way very insightful to see what you liked and didn't about Z and how I should build my game. I'm glad you didn't like the character creator either and it makes it easier for me to just build a story around the one character :) . Would you be willing to talk on discord further about your thoughts on the game ever ?

Thank you for watching! I would totally be down for chatting on discord about it more.

Lol, neat. Not the only one making one. Personally love the customization though, story was never a draw to me. I always just enjoyed the ability to live out the ninja fantasy in a small open world map sandbox. Cutscenes/story was always just icing on the cake to set the stage and that is all. Customization allowed me to get more attached to a character of my own design preferences and playstyle if the game supports gameplay customization also. I think that tenchu has some of my favorite preset characters though, so it does conflict me. Maybe custom characters with an option of a preset for a character that is normally used for advertisement/representing the game and people not interested in designing their own would be ideal?
My inspirations are Tenchu and Naruto. Taking very specific things from each of them, but keeping a dark gritty feel to a degree that tenchu has would be ideal. I am kinda debating making my own fantasy setting that heavily borrows from japan and ninja/samurai culuture and designs instead so it is unique and fresh without a chance of making mistakes about stuff looking accurate to older japanese cultural settings. May allow more unique map design setups too. Not sure yet. Overall aesthetic would still be VERY similar to this though.

Do not abandon the character customisation, that is a massive draw that current Tenchu-likes all lack, if you abandon that, you're kinda just making way to be called a poor man's ghost of tsushima

@@AlbinoMothDragon Hehe. Idk about for him, but customization, player builds, and overall player agency is one of my favorite things. One of the reasons I like tenchu Z more than most the others in the franchise. Actually have a good chunk of the gameplay working, but I am having to hold off on the project until i can make a certain purchase or an alternative is found. No worries about dropping it though, it will eventually become a thing, One of my dream games I absolutely must make in my lifetime.
