Thx so much for this vid. It's been 3 years that I've been using the wrong hand technique. I was wondering why I couldn't build up speed/endurance anymore. This video opened my eyes and this shows that little things can make big improvements. I'm a lot more comfortable with my playing now. Many thanks Andols!
the end part reminds me of that GREAT recording of him playing needle and trying to squeeze out those single strokes at the end, and pulling that insane face XD (which btw is on the Resurrection DVD)
Hello, Andols. Great tutorial vids posted by you. Would you mind teaching how to play ghost notes on snare (e.g. Those that we usually see in drum solos) Thanks alot! Regards, Edmund
yea, they are all talented in their own respects. and yes, andols is a really cool guy. got to do a video lesson with him when he was tryin to set up online lessons and it was a great experience to say the least.
@SwiftDuck Hahah dude.....i was talking about neal peart being one of the best drummers in history, not andols. my god. and your bucket drumming videos are all i needed to write you off with anything farther that you have to say about andols and his technique. Thanks
Hey thanks man, real cool of you to do this. The sound of the drum seems to drown out your voice somewhat, no big deal though. Wish I had a drum kit to practice on, it really looks like fun to do : /
sweet vidoe dude!!!! but i am a guitarists and i was wondering how do i play well with drums becuase i know that my timing is off??/??? if u have a tips as a drummer let me know, thanx
I'm noticing the pinkies out....I've always used this technique...and then started to use the pinkies for more speed/power.....ever tried that? or bad idea?
I gotta wonder why you stay with Ahead sticks? I got frustrated having to replace the tips and sleeves, and the fact that there is limited cymbal and bell definition when playing the sticks. I recently made the switch from Lars Ulrich Aheads to Ray Luzier Pro-Marks.
just for the lulz, I know I'm gunna sound like a dick but a lot of band geeks and drum corp guys are gunna understand this one, but get those pinkies in andols :D but love your work (I cover a lot of it and your my hero man), and I have made this part of my daily warm-up/practice. thanks a ton!
for using fingers how r ur levels so high? I'm in the process of training my fingers and i can't get my levels that high u look like ur at 9in how? just wondering
@xthexemoxmuffinx YAWWWWNNN!, you have obviously never seen any of George kollias?, he blows Andols out of the water 3 times over, i mean as much as i love andols and all(well actually i think that Chimaira wrote their best stuff when Andols was gone, i think Kevin talley shat all over him) but andols is still a cool guy.
@SwiftDuck Hahah.....drum corps....so what. You sound like one of those guys you try and say Neil Peart's arm position and stiffness and his hand technique is bad. Hahaha....Telling one of the greatest drummers in history how do play......so what, does buddy rich slump over too much when he leans over his reverse angled snare?
Awesome drummer in an awesome band with a humble & awesome attitude. ANDOLS HERRICK ladies and gentlemen!

Man pure awesome
notice that he uses french grip, using the thumb as fulcrum for the stick.
(popular grip for speed-loving drummers ^^)
