  • In this video, Damo Mitchell introduces Qigong and Jing, as well as discussing the common problems that people face in Qigong practice. He begins with a brief introduction to Qigong and its purpose and various applications in life. Damo then talks us through the three treasures of Daoism: Qi, Jing and Shen. Damo also addresses the various misconceptions of Qigong practice. He provides a guide to the basics of Qigong and stresses the importance of understanding core principles of Chinese martial arts, as well as the proper practice of Qigong. Another topic that Damo expands on is the over-complication of Qigong concepts with “modern” Western interpretations. He urges us not to over-complicate things as this will make it harder for people to grasp the key concepts of Chinese martial arts. In the final section of this video, Damo elaborates on Jing. He discusses the key principles around Jing, its relation to the kidneys, ming men and the lower dan tien. Also included in this video is a detailed explanation of the neijingtu chart, which provides information for regulation of the kidneys and Jing. This is a very useful and informational video on Qigong practice and its key principles.
Damo is the author of several Singing Dragon books, including Daoist Nei Gong, Heavenly Streams, and the forthcoming The Yellow Monkey Emperor’s Classic of Chinese Medicine. Damo Mitchell has studied the martial, medical and spiritual arts of Asia since the age of four. His studies have taken him across the planet in search of authentic masters. He is the technical director of the Lotus Nei Gong School of Daoist Arts, and teaches Nei Gong in the UK, Sweden and the USA.
This video was submitted for Singing Dragon's 'Virtual Qigong Festival 2016'. To find out more about the festival, please visit our blog: singingdragon.c...

Thank you for sharing, this is one of the most lucid explanations I've yet encountered of the Daoist Alchemical process, after studying and practicing from various teachers and reading numerous books on the topic over the last 3 decades.

Seems like a fab video but sound quality is terrible on my end. Seems like no body else had this problem. Not sure why I do. I have listened to a lot of Damo's more recent videos with no problem. Wish I could get good sound on this one. Any suggestions?

Great video. Great explanations. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I've read all 4 of your books, and I love the clarity you bring to these concepts, that can be rather nebulous. Bravo Damo!

Does standing have the same effect of calming and stabilizing the Jing in the same way as sitting does?

So far the best explanation of that famous illustration. I am sure there is a whole lot more into it but really Glad you spoke about it off the cuff. For many of us who have practiced Mantak Chia's system, your explanation on these subjects is much needed. Thank you so much. Hope you will keep making more videos on alchemy and give some comparison works of different masters. 谢谢你🙏

it is nice introduction. I found seminar series from YMAA by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming the best available for someone who studies Qigong in depth as well as his books.

Excellent lecture. Indeed sitting quiet and replenishing kidney Jing is vital in the process while expelling grande allotments of energy.

Yo yo Damo, thanks for being here mate. So my particular system is this : years of improper treatment, nervous system goes dow, fascia, kidney n lung grasping Qi affected by temperatures, gallbladder n liver meridian affected by years of stupid people including practitioners not able to figure it out. Then I figure it out, incorrect resources n community to help heal = shitstorms of health breakdowns.
Now on the mend FINALLY perhaps so real movement. Holy crap there’s layers of asswholes in every part of this.
I’m a light weight and lighthearted human, that has been pushed up against the worst, that’s the way it goes. Again, I’m in a better place of healing with a ways to go.
Your years of experience is valuable, appreciated and loved.
Thanks for making the world a better a place .....
    Xxx
