I love this lens. We just did a 30 day family vacation in Sicily (10 family members from age 75 to 5) and this was the only lens I took. I didn’t miss my 45 liter backpack of lenses one bit! This is an amazing lens.
Always good to see your content Roger.......... Within the focal range of this lens, have you checked which are your most commonly used focal lengths? On my recent trip to Czechia, I used the 28-200 for most of my shots (around 2000) but the majority were in the 28-90mm range. Having said that, it was really useful to have it for those time I needed to go longer. For the first time ever, I used my smartphone for extreme wide angle shots such as St.Vitus Cathedral in Prague when 28mm was not wide enough.
Thanks. Interesting. I haven't checked what focal length I use before but checked it now. It seems like I use the ends the most. Out of the 3500pics I have taken with this lens about 500 were at 200mm and 650 at 28mm. The rest were very evenly divided in between. Interesting perspective.
Interesting to hear your thoughts on this lens...a "Swiss Army knife" sounds perfect. I bought this lens on discount a while ago as an upgrade to my old Lumix 14-140mm which I had for my M4/3 system. I don't have a camera body for the Tamron yet, hehe, planning to get an A7CII.
70-200s are way larger than this and if you are using those you lose 28-70. Its a great lens to have with at all times in your bag (the 28-200) because you get that telephoto capability without the weight and massive size. I dont understand why Sony or Sigma dont have something like this. Sony should refresh the 24-105 but make it 28-150 f4 to keep the size and weight down
Thanks so much. Really enjoy your perspective!
Thank you
Best video on this lens!
getting one in bout 3 weeks !!! Never realized , Tamron makes some good lenses
you won't be disappointed, I'm sure.

I can not agree more. For the size, weight and price it is truly amazing. How was Sicily for photography?

Hahaha, I did the same thing a few years ago when I switched from DSLR to mirrorless. I had two lenses before I had a body :-)

Im getting this and a 85mm for portraits and that should be it
Add a wide angle and you have everything you need :-)
It's also my favorite Sony lens
What's the max aperture at 70-75mm?
If you mean the widest aperture it is f4 at 70-75mm
