Thank you so much for the review David!

I'm a total fan of Jonathan. I have two of his pens that I purchased at the DC Show, plus many many pens made from his materials. BUT, there is a difference between buying a Leonardo, Narwhal or any other collaboration pen and buying a pen directly from Carolina Pen Company. While Jonathan uses Jowo nibs, they are impeccably tuned. Since there are many nib experta present at the DC show, I automatically assumed that he had gotten one of them to tune a selection of nibs, for his show pens. When I asked him about it; he very casually told me that he tunes them, himself.

Johnathan Brooks never dissappints with his in-house resins and pen making skills. 👌

I'm so envious of your personally engraved nib. That's awesome how it has Figboot up on the shoulder of the nib.

Beautiful resin! But I can see how the option to switch back and forth is appealing. I’d rather have it just as a fountain pen, though. Thanks for another informative review.

This is such a cool idea for a pen that can gently introduce people to the world of fountain pens.

His resins are gorgeous, as everyone knows. His own turned pens are underrated. 🐋🩵🐋

LOVE this combo concept!! I look forward to the review of the other dual purpose pen, truly revolutionary!!

Nice delivery on the concept. I'm glad to hear you mention Jonathan Brooks' skill at resins. I've seen his blanks used by seemingly a growing number of pen makers -- and I've concluded that about the only way to get one of his resins . Several years ago, I so wanted one of his pens (then estimated as "about a year") but when it extended past 2 years, I was offered a refund. Now I see the time estimate is 2 years (fair enough; I know he's a very small shop)..."approximately". He's so good at and busy making blanks I'm surprised he still makes pens for people a lot more patient than I was able to be.

Same experience here. I've been waiting for more than 3 years for my orders. I feel somewhat cheated that I made a down payment of $300 and I never heard anything from him again. Money talks, small customers walk?

This was a timely review. I just finished my own design this weekend for a pen that can use either a G2 or Jowo 6 nib unit.
Mine doesn't use a separate cap for the G2, instead, I turn that into the section and I also make a spacer to take up the distance to the back of the barrel since I want to make sure mine can be used with a converter instead of being cartridge only.
I do like how he made the stepup from the threads to the barrel small.

I like that you can literally convert the penfrom fountain pen to rollerball. Yafa Brands has done thiis years ago and it should be offered more often. If this model could use fountain pen ink with the rollerball, as a third option, it would be outstanding.
Itcalso looksoke you can eyedropper fill the barrel.
Thank you for the review, David.

All of my Artcraft pens can easily be converted to/from fountain pen to rollerball. This is a feature I've offered from my first pen, the Moonwalk that you reviewed a couple of years ago.

A curious idea, but well executed, I think.

This is a great concept. Add Schon Dsgn to the list of pen manufacturers who offers a rollerball conversion unit for their Pocket 6 model. You have to hunt for it, but it's on the website. It works with fountain pen ink cartridges. I have one and it works well -- a nice change of pace when you want one.

I would love to see rollerball tips useable with "normal" ink cartridges and or converters.
It would be far more ecological and fun 😉

The pen from Dave Dollar I showed during the size comparisons does just that. Look for a review coming soon of that pen.

Hi David, maybe you should also put a declaimer how long customers should expect to get their custom orders from Carolina Pen. I've been waiting for more than 3 years for my orders and Jonathon has stopped answering my emails.

I thought a rollerball/fountain swapping sections had been around a while. I know my Dupont pens have this option, as with many other converter pens (and seems simpler than this method). I do like the rollerball conversion that allowed fountain pen ink. That’s possible with some rollerball cartridges-trying to save money on MB cartridges is partially responsible for getting me into fountain pens (I didn't save money as my fountain pen collection has passed 100 a while go).
Still an interesting design all the same.
