St. Gallen or Sankt Gallen is a charming and historical town in the northeast of Switzerland between Lake Constance and Appenzellerland. The location of this town is just excellent as a travel start point or side trip because it is just in the corner of four countries: Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein. The Abbey District in the Old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its beautiful Rococo Abbey Library and the Baroque Cathedral of St. Gallus. St. Gallen got its name from the Irish missionary monk named Gallus who established a monastery here. In the Middle Ages, the town developed into an important hub of culture and education in Europe. St. Gallen continued to grow due to its thriving textile industry that specializes in embroideries, lace and linen. Today, St. Gallen is a compact urban area and cultural, educational, and economical center of eastern Switzerland.
This is the location where the Filipino movie 'Meet me in St.Gallen' by Carlo Aquino and Bela Padilla was filmed.

Places to go in St. Gallen as shown in this video:
1. Old Town of St. Gallen - the old town is picture perfect in any corner. The medieval architecture has been preserved with the oriel windows that decorate the houses.
2. Abbey of St. Gall - I highly recommend to visit the Abbey Library, it is one of the most beautiful libraries I have been into (Go Google: St. Gallen Abbey Library) - Pictures and videos are not allowed inside so I was not able to film it. The Abbey Library of St. Gall is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday- Sunday.
3. St. Gallen Cathedral (Abbey Cathedral of St. Gall) - go inside the cathedral to see the beautiful Baroque architecture. The St. Gallen Cathedral is closed to visitors on Sunday mornings and during services.
4. Gallusplatz - This place is instagram-worthy. It features a fountain with the statue of Gallus (St. Gall), the patron saint of the city.
5. Church of St. Laurence - is a beautiful Protestant church featuring neo-Gothic architecture. The interiors of the church is simple but beautiful, and there are also available tours in the church tower. The tour includes going up to the top of the tower where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Old Town, the Abbey Precinct, and the whole town of St. Gallen.
Getting There: St. Gallen is about 1 hr 15 min train ride from Zurich.
