Gone are the days we embroidered our own solo dresses (well, those of us who couldn't afford to have them stamped and machine-embroidered..) and I do NOT envy today's girls those wigs! They must ungodly heavy and hot during summer feis seasons! And I miss the kilts, jackets & shawls for the boys too.
Loved the dancing, however, the dresses and hair look hideous.....where are the beautiful traditional green dresses and natural hair........so sad.....to change a tradition

I wish I was this good... I've been dancing for 3 years (I'm nearly 30) and i'm on a self imposed hiatus at the moment
my teacher sucked all my enjoyment right out of me to be perfectly honest... i do miss it but i don't miss not achieving anything

Dresses and wigs have been that way for over a decade in the Irish dancing world. Dresses are picked to suit skin color and hair color.
