      @@rleidl thank you! Glad I could bring a little inspiration and ideas for you! I really consider Neo a flying camera - quite often it’s more practical just put up the drone in the air and start recording than taking out a tripod, mount a camera on it… all the following and quick shot modes is an added bonus!
      Happy 2025! 👍🍀💫🎉🥳

    Always in my tank bag, even better with the RC but it hates wind. You can also add speech using the app with or without a Bluetooth mic. Nice bike, I have a Multi V2S.

      Cheers bud. Indeed, it does not like wind, or at least not too much of it. My first day out with the drone was a walk in our local park, strong gusts of wind, was really worried if it comes back from doing the 10m rocket 😰It landed safely though, but it struggled.
      Agree on the RC, that comes next - having an all-in-one option with such a small drone would be fab! Especially for looong tours!
      Regarding sound - this one I will still explore, though I may just opt for recording the audio with my wireless mic via my Osmo Action 4 camera.
      This video, and an other one I work on right now, I synced the footage on visual cues (usually I use the clapping to help me sync audio tracks, but works for video/frame sync too).
      Thanks for the comment on the bike! I love the Multistrada, she's a beast, but can be a good girl too! 😀Only regret is I did not go for the enduro version - can't put knobbies on her ... which limits me a bit in riding some of the trails I could otherwise do with ease!
      It made me realise next time I'd rather go for the V2S too if I'd decided to stick with Ducati!
      Safe riding, cheers for stopping by here! 🙂👍

    Use wired hands-free for easy voice control and noise cancelling recording too. 20mph follow with the bike noise, closer, further, higher, lower, etc.

    • @place17adv
      @place17adv  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Dom, cheers for the comment. To be honest, after a few experiments, I won't be bothered with the drone's audio via bluetooth to phone & dji fly app.
      Why? It sounds terrible, robotic and kind of muffled.
      I either've got an external recorder with me with a lav mic, or use the lav mic in my helmet and/or directly with the DJI camera as a master audio.
      Plus, I I don't need to use it for sync for my multiclip editing, I can easily do it without drone audio based on visual clues.
      In this video, the audio was borked. I had my helmet on, but the recording came via the DJI camera itself, rather than the external mic connected to it. Whilst I could have filtered out the drone sound with Davinci Resolve's Voice Isolation / Gate / Compressor - I left it intentionally here in this video.
      Good idea on the voice control though, I could do that eventually.
      A sequel to this video me riding along a dirt track will follow, weather permitting, at some point possibly. Snow and ice outside at the moment!
      Thanks for stopping by! Take care.

    Hi Leo,
    That is really a cool drone. It is small, light and has the basic flights (rocket etc.)
    The camera from the drone looks good, so we suppose it has 4K?
    Only thing I really want to know is, is it also possible to let it follow you at for example 50 meters and a height of 30 meters?
    How is the obstacle avoidance: only in the front or also at the back and sides?
    We are looking for a small additive drone for following shoots, for the long distance flights we keep the DJI mini 3.
    We are thinking at the Hoverair X1 Pto, but this Neo seems also an option…

    • @place17adv
      @place17adv  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The HooverAir is probably better for you as I’ve heard it has all the better obstacle avoidance sensors on the sides as well.
      It is also priced accordingly too - which put me off a bit: I wanted something I would not regret when I eventully lose it, damage it, abuse in harsh conditions - with me that is a matter of if, not when…
      Neo did great when following me in the bushes while running…, but of course it has no side/back semsors for optical avoidance, so… if you do large diameter circle or helix, and there is a tree in the way - it will run into it with no hesitation. I accepted this as a limitation, but it may not be for everyone.
      Btw. the advanced drone features unlock with DJI RC controllers, then it becomes almost as their full Avata or higher-end drones, then it could follow you based on the connection with the RC. With no RC, follow from larger distances than say 20 meters are hard to achieve, as the dji fly app relies on wifi connectivity with the drone , rather than long-distance rf - and that tends to disconnect past anything more than 20 meters mark.
      The camera is 4k, the tiny sensor though takes its toll on image quality in bad light conditions. Also, shutter cries for using ND filters + a CPL filter is a must for me on any camera lens really - so I ordered a set of ND filters + a CPL one - that will achieve the footage look less digital.
      So, can it fully replace a bigger, advance drone? No - for this your DJI Mini is still a better option.
      Is it a value for money for a motovlogger travelling light and in need of some good b-roll footage, aerial footage? Absolutely!
      I’ve got MJX Bugs5 drone for advaced uses - which can also carry a mounted gopro on its belly - but I barely use it for motovlogs.
      I may grab a DJI Mini at some point too, but… my sunk costs in lost drones are in the lower region of 10k+ EUR 😅🥲😂

      @place17adv  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@oldbootsontour it struck me today that with your DJI Mini 3, I remember seeing you flying it while on our Italy tour - you've got the RC2 controller, rigth? If so, the DJI Neo would actually make sense for you as a lovely little addition: you could use the same controller with DJI NEO and ulock the extra features, such as follow from far/up above based on the connection with the controller...
      The only downside for you would be the lack of side/back sensors for collision avoidance.
      With Hoverair, you'd be starting from scratch - still a good option, this is just a thought that came to my mind today morning 🙂

    Did you use any ND filter or did you color grade when you edited it? 😊

    • @place17adv
      @place17adv  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is a slight colour-grade done on each clip in Davinci Resolve as part of my editing workflow. I've applied the same preset on the NEO footage as I use for my DJI Osmo Action 4 clips - a slight reduction in contrast, a bit up highlighs as it was a dull day. Up radius a bit in the sharpen/blur section to decrease the harsh shaprness.
      This footage was with no ND/CPL filter due to low light - I did not want the shutter speeds to go any lower and/or the drone compensating with higher ISO (to avoid noise).
      TBH I'm a massive fan of circular polarizing filters over NDs, but I did test some footage with NEO on a bright sunny day ND8/CPL (ND + CPL combined) and quite liked the result!

      @place17adv  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cheers buddy, thank you for stopping by and subbing!
      You get +1 point as you are the first one who spotted the audio issues. However, it is not what you think it is. As I said in the video, I did not record any sound through the drone.
      Instead, I wanted to record the audio with my lav mic in the helmet, as I always do when motovlogging. For some strange reason though, the DJI Osmo Mic Adapter may have not been inserted properly, and all the audio track was recorded with the DJI Osmo Action 4 built-in mics instead - this is why the drone is so audible, the motorbike too loud and my voice a bit muted.
      I tried to rectify this with the voice isolation functionality in DaVinci Resolve - it helped a bit, but I did not wanted to crank it up too much - as then my voice became too muddy, robotic and AI-sounding.
      This is also the reason why I started this video with no me on the bike intro, as I did not thave the audio track of me speaking to the mic.
      That said, for next time, I have to switch to the DJI wireless mic - although it was the first time the mic adapter failed me, I somehow no longer trust it anymore ...
      As you can see, motovlogging and audio is always walking on a thin line - so many variables that can go wrong 😃
      P.S. Stay tuned, as soon as the snow is gone in my area and temperatures back in the + range of Celsius, I will do a sequel being followed on a proper offroad track!
