Growing up, my favorite birthday dinner my mom made me was hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, lesuer peas with butter, biscuits & chocolate cake. Mouth is watering😂. Love salmon patties also with fries & lettuce slaw😋. I know this sounds crazy but mix mayo, ketchup & mustard together & dip your patty in it. It'll make your eyes roll back.
@faigee3493 That's funny because we used to have fried shrimp at least twice a month & we once ran out of tartar sauce so my dad threw these 3 ingredients together & we never bought tartar sauce again😂. Great with fries, crackers, any fried seafood. Best things in life are so simple😉.
Tammy, I just love the stories you tell while you cook for us. You are such a natural in the kitchen and you make us all feel like we’re right there with you. Bless you!
We got 31/2 inches here in Abingdon, Va…. Then rain …. Now ice…..but more snow n it’s way….lots of flurries. Love salmon patties and peas….. was my family’s meal too.
Lots of snow here in Ontario Canada. It’s minus 7 Celsius but feels like -18 with the wind chill. I make salmon sandwiches all the time only with red salmon not pink. You can buy boneless skinless salmon here .
My husband loved salmon patties. I made them for him often. It’s only getting due to 31 degrees tonight and warming gradually for the next week or more.
Last night I made your Shepherd Pie,comfort food. I'm from Michigan. Just a dusting of snow days ago, nothing new. But it's been very cold, high of 25 today but it felt kind of nice because no wind.
Watching you cook your salmon dinner reminded me of my mom frying large salmon patties. That was one of my favorite things to eat with creamed peas on top. It was very nostalgic watching you and thinking of her.😊
We just got rain in Piedmont NC. Snow possibly for this Friday. My mama made salmon patties with canned salmon a lot. We always knew what it was and they were good but not crunchy like yours. About pickled beets--my granny made them and I love them. I get canned sliced beets and make the pickling brine and drain the canned beets and pour the brine over them. Exactly the same as pickled beets and you don't have to mess with peeling and cutting them up. I use whole allspice and whole cloves in mine, boiled with the brine and strained out. I keep pickled beets in the fridge all the time.
My Mom always made creamed peas with salmon pattys. I also serve them this way. You spoon the creamed peas over the pattys. It's just a simple white sauce seasoned up with garlic and onion powders and anything else you like.
I do not eat salmon but I do cook the salmon patties for my husband. I liked looking at how you do it so I know its good without tasting it. I did make your coconut pie today and it looks so good can't wait to eat a piece. I am from NC. the south end. I want to try your recipe for a red velvet cake next.
I would say I'm sending you guys some sunshine from AZ, but it even got chilly here today and started sprinkling. We grew up eating salmon patties. I still love them.
I'm in West Virginia we got 10 inches of snow and one inch of ice 20's of a day single digests at night all this week it hit us hard and they say three more inches of snow this weekend but thank God we did get to keep our power
😂 Tammy obviously. You were much more interested in cooking than I was. I don't remember watching my mother Do much of anything, except for pickling fresh Georgia peaches, and she would always have a bowl of sugar out and I would love to roll those peeled peaches in sugar and eat them up.yum
It’s just cold, here just outside Charlotte. Try mixing a can of LaSoure Peas and a can of asparagus with a can of cream of mushroom soup with a little milk. Bake it like you do green bean casserole
Happy 2025! Thanks for sharing. I like making salmon cakes and I think I’ll fix some for dinner tomorrow. We have 13” of snow here in southern Maryland. Hope you are staying warm. Take care and God bless. ❤😊🇺🇸❄️🐾🦌🦀
I remember going to Grandma and Papa's farm and she would ask me what I wanted to eat (when I was about 10-12?). She never seemed to mind "Potato Soup" and/or "Mackerel Patties". Today, as a Mom of twelve, I think she was happy that we liked it because Potato soup was relatively inexpensive and believe that the Mackerel must've been cheaper than the canned salmon. When she was in Georgia we ate a lot of things, she had the bester fried pan fish and she made the tails so crispy so I could eat them! She always cut the bacon rinds off for me and made them so crunchy. I never knew how much my Papa enjoyed them because he never complained and would even slip me his. When they went to Kansas to the farm, fresh fish didn't happen and the grits not as much either. My foster children like me to make salmon balls. Basically I just don't flatten my patties. But they're convinced that they taste better than the patties. Thank you for sharing the memories. Oh, I don't care for canned asparagus either. Momma swore yhe only peas were LeSeur peas. I prefer fresh or frozen. I can eat it, but I'd rather not. I'm sure it's a "taste & texture" thing.
Long Creek Illinois (central IL) 8 inches which is not snowed in lol. I grew up with Salmon patties. My step was born and raised in TN and had to have gravy with almost everything. Of course mom had to make gravy with the salmon Pattie drippings. The only frozen vegetable I care for is corn and I still prefer canned lol
Tammy I love can peas also. I put them over rice with butter sometimes. I use frozen peas also depends what I’m making ❤ we make smashed or mushy peas a British dish sometimes. Mushy Peas * 1 (10 ounce) package frozen green peas * ¼ cup heavy cream * 1 tablespoon butter * ½ teaspoon salt * ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Gather all ingredients. Bring a shallow pot of lightly salted water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add frozen peas, and cook for 3 minutes, or until tender. Drain peas and transfer to a blender or large food processor. Add cream, butter, salt, and pepper; process until blended, but still thick with small pieces of peas. Adjust seasonings to taste, and serve immediately. Mushy peas are a simple and tasty side dish great with any fried fish. My neighbor from England loves it…
I use your recipe for salmon patties with the exception. I have to use dehydrated onion flakes because hubby won't eat onion to save his life. He really enjoys these.
Tip for peas: drain off liquid into pan, bring to boil; add peas; put a lid on pan, cut heat off and let them sit - keeps the peas very tender and whole.
Thank you Tammy 💗 for Sharing with Us this recipe. Plus enjoying the Chit Chat I also grew up on canned peas. Memories of my Mama making cream peas with corn starch to thicken the juice of the can peas. I presume she fixed them that way so my younger sister and I would eat the peas. You have a gold mine in your backyard with your chickens because Tammy in my area of California a dozen of Eggs are Nine dollars a dozen Believe it or not. Weather in my area is 62 degrees but very windy today here in Northern Central Valley of California Enjoy the Rest of your Fabulous Week Take Care ❤
Yes, ma'am, people eat what they're used to and what they like. I think those LeSeur peas in the can are the best too. But salmon patties....you probably couldn't pay me to eat that 😂 Just not a fan at all. But I watched anyway just because I like to hang out with y'all in your kitchen 😊 ❤
Hello Tammy And Chris . I live in Texas no snow where I live . Very cold down freezing . I and family love salmon patties . I make mine the same way you do . But I don't add cayenne pepper . Enjoy!
Middle TN here, expecting snow Friday. Very cold. I make my salmon patties just like that. Cream potatoes and green peas 🫛
And never use "corn oils"....try Avacado oil, butter or fresh lard. Save that 100+ pounds of Dr quack visits.
Lots of snow here in Ontario Canada. It’s minus 7 Celsius but feels like -18 with the wind chill. I make salmon sandwiches all the time only with red salmon not pink. You can buy boneless skinless salmon here .
I use any onion, any time in almost everything I cook. I'm in Northeast Alabama and flurries yesterday morning. Snow ice coming in this Friday.
Hello, here from Huntsville Al
@amandaparsons4939 Hello... Rainsville, here, above Ft Payne. Sand Mountain
If views are down it is possibly because we are all outside shoveling! lol Or hibernating under blankets in a deep sleep.
No snow yet in Southern Tennessee!!! I love watching your cooking videos!!! ♥️♥️
My husband loved salmon patties. I made them for him often. It’s only getting due to 31 degrees tonight and warming gradually for the next week or more.
