Hello everyone. I am an Indian living in India and frankly, I had no idea that these issues even existed. So I don't understand the exact situation on the ground. Malema might be right or McKaiser might be right. I don't know. I just wanted to point out that even among Indians living in white lands, there is a high propensity for Indians to live in their own community and to marry other Indians only. This is a fact. Make of it what you will. As an Indian I can see why that is. Its because our culture is very different and most of us don't feel very comfortable stepping outside our own culture.
I have also noticed a similar trend among Japanese. Its not that we are racist. Its just that we draw a line between those who understand our culture and those that do not. Here in India, I have Africans as well as Afghans in my university. They tend to do the same: stick in their own communities. I think its human nature to seek out people who you share a lot in common with. Just wanted to give my perspective on this, although I am completely unaware of how African-Indians conduct themselves.

I’m sorry, Eusebius. I feel strongly about the persistent enormous racial inequity that needs addressing today. One principle remains - attributing a quality of someone to the colour of their skin is RACISM - whether it be their fitness for giving comment in parliament/ radio, or generalizing the majority of a race as racists. Racism is easy. I believe you can not justify old racism with new racism. It takes a real South African to acknowledge that. Julius’ and by extension, the EFF’s greatest weakness is that they believe South Africans actually want to have a wedge driven between them. We don’t want to be divided, we want to be together. We want to fix this country together. How are we going to do this? NOT WITH RACISM. Racism poorly disguised as “stimulating conversation” or “making people uncomfortable” deserves contempt and rehabilitation. Julius has roughshod isolated the entire Indian community through his petty racist comment. That makes him no different than Cecil John Rhodes or Verwoerd or any other racist pig who made an assumption about a people on the basis of the colour of their skin. Come back when you are ready to make a positive change in this country.

Ahmed Kathrada, to name a few fought along Nelson to bring peace in South Africa, Let's be honest, Indians did have it better in apartheid due to their work ethic, go to any country outside India and find the most successful immigrants, US, Canada, UK.. Its the Indian Population. We are not complacent of our current situation, we work to EARN a better life for us and future generations. we were bought into this country 158 years ago, not as Nobles but as Slaves. and worked our way to become successful. I accept Malema is being honest, but let me be honest. look at South African Crime stats, who are the people that are doing the most murders, rape, hijacking, Cash in Transit heists? Indians? I don't think so. the highest ratio of business per race group the Indians. we positively contribute to the economy of South Africa, we give back. we make It happen for ourselves not look for government hand outs. Fact remains, Malema is correct, we have way bigger issues to sort out in South Africa. the lower income needs to be educated for free, our fuel costs are astronomically high, we sell fuel to neighbouring countries, yet our fuel prices are higher, the poor are suffering, Tenderprenuers are not giving back to the communities, we have the highest corruption rates in the world, the government are a bunch of thieves, Malema owned a mansion on a R20000 salary while with ANC. He is part of the corruption, we have the highest income inequality levels in the world. Instead of working against each other, we need to work together to figure out a way forward to eradicate these problems. We need a leader that can bring our people together, not fuel animosity with each other.

There are facts and there are opinions, I would urge all to read the SAIRR report of 2017 " Race Relations in South Africa - Reasons for Hope 2017" - where scientifically based opinion surveys were carried out on a cross section of the South African population. One of the key findings is that : "The 2016 field survey also asked respondents if, in their view, race relations had improved, stayed the same, or worsened since 1994. Their answers are set out in Table 2. Significantly,
more than half (55%) of respondents thought they had improved, while just over a quarter (27%) felt they had stayed the same. Overall, more than 80% of respondents thought race relations had either improved or stayed the same, while roughly 5% said they did not know. Some 13% thought race relations had become worse, with 11% of blacks expressing this view. Most of the concern about worsening race relations came from coloured, Indian, and white people." Pg 3 of the report available at : irr.org.za/reports/occasional-reports/files/race-relations-in-south-africa-2013-reasons-for-hope-2017/viewPlease educate yourselves then question your leaders on what they say in public. South Africa is a young democracy and many of the segregated groups are still adjusting to equality and the removal of divisions that were previously entrenched. Let us built that rainbow nation rather than split the colours apart.

@@jesuscares8696 I was accepting your correction until you wrote “...because they worked themselves out of it...”. Clearly then we both don’t know SA history because my comment is write from after the group areas act was introduced. It is that act that put Indians in serviced houses next to white suburbs, and black people had to use pit latrines and the bucket system as ablution.
Indians never worked themselves out of squatter camps, they were relocated to decent areas, given running water and lights, by the racists during the group areas’ act implementation. Read it up, knowledge is free on the internet

@@sifisomagagula5476 ok I accept that they were placed there.. however it must be noted that they lived in squatter camps like Africans and coloureds when they got here. They were placed in proper houses after the 1949 rights. This whole scenario of blacks not having houses and proper living conditions was that they were denied this by the racist government. However even more sad than that is that the present government has stolen money that was meant to build houses for black people and they line their pockets.. they do that to their own black family. And when they asked about it they bring up racism.. and when masses look at other races as enemies..they steal even more.. That's sad. Unfair world.

@@jesuscares8696 you are still wrong, unfortunately. Post the GAA, Indians had a life only second to whites. You can’t deny that there was a hierarchy. It was whites, Indians, coloureds and blacks (although the last two could almost be ranked similar). No Indian used a pit toilet post the GAA. Now, you can’t only put that on their hard work. White people use the same excuse, making black people feel lazy because apparently other groups worked hard. Indians had the same education as whites, while blacks had Bantu education. That’s why there are plenty of Indian doctors and black people are only now, digging themselves out of the apartheid hole.
You are a denialist if you think Indians worked themselves out of anything. They had a better start than black people. They had basis services, most black townships only got electricity in the late 90’s, that’s what RDP was about. Read up on SA history please

@@sifisomagagula5476 well, then we are under a black government arent we. Whatever start Indians had they never did it to other races.. let's say you are right and they were given that. That's no fault of Indian South Africans. If they had a better start in life than black South Africans then there's no need to complain now is there..blacks are under a black government presently. And they have been under a black government since 1994. And that..I am right about. If blacks find themselves in a bad position today Indians aren't to blame for that.
