Sometimes we didn't even realise we've been pronouncing some words incorrectly our whole life, and the natives have troubles to understand us as we have troubles to say words properly particularly those with letter "th, x, r, c, z, k, g. Also we focus a lot more on reading and writing than speaking in Hong Kong, you can have 700 on TOFEL but you can't speak or just some broken and choppy English. However if you stick with the locals 24/7 for a few months, your accent and pronunciation would change automatically that you didn't even realise you're picking up the way they speak spontaneously. But if you stick with your Chinese friends all the times, then you can only pick up their Chinese English, that's my experience living in an English speaking country for 20 years.
Usually Asian food in US are relatively cheaper. All the sudden Asian food cost double comparing to a few years early. A few years ago $12 USD dinner buffet in my area included all you can eat fresh opening clams and oysters. Now a fried rice, fried noodle and Tofu as shown will cost about $14 +$14+ $16, $44 USD + tax.
It is normal, as Hongkonger, I worked and lived in many different places in the world. Such as Switzerland, Oman, UAE, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and others. It is easy to understand other foreigner English as they use simple words and speak more clear. It is always little harder to understand native english speaker due to their slang, accent and they sometimes do not speak clearly. However, if you watch more BBC, it will help you. Honestly. Hongkong teacher tought many wrong pronunciation as they learned wrongly as well sadly....
Hong Kong English teachers are the worst, they speak terrible English and have the guts to teach students, they should be ashamed of themselves. I watched English only TV shows and in around a year, I was able to talk 70-80% like the locals. However, after 45 years in America, my Hong Kong accent still stays with me even though I communicate in English daily.

First 3-6 months, learn by listeming the local spoken English. The English pronunciation is getting more blur as you travel northwards to Midlands (Birmingham, Manchester) and North East (Leeds, Hull, Newcastle).

不但Scottish, Irish accent quite different from British accent.英國境內也有不少口音差異。mid land, and East London accent are so completely different from Oxford English. So , what's wrong with Hong Kong accent. Except for the class discrimination the English show .

Exactly ! To be honest, still a lower grade as a person of 10 years working experience. Most of the people, especially professionals have down~graded themselves to take blue~collar jobs or manual labor jobs. When you are reaching your forties, you got to be joking me.
You’re absolutely right. Hong Kong locals should differentiate accent from mispronunciation. Accent refers to a person’s speaking style. You can’t expect to have a social life in the UK if you pronounce all the words completely wrong.
There are way too much tubes like this, not that it is not informative, but too repetitive. Why can’t you guys bring up the homeless situation in London, how the regular citizens struggle to make ends meet, if you guys really want to know the country of UK. Even big cities in North America . Constantly glorifying western countries is a real dis-service to your viewers.

I notice that too. I started home cooking more and I believe it's better and healthier for me. LOL!

其實London 英文accent 已經比較好。雖然，Londoner 口音都好出名，同美國Texas 比，還差很遠。要加陪努力，blend in culture , 才最重要

原來英國唔可以帶防狼噴霧！不過我果陣住london有隨身帶住個銀雞，以備有突發危險時求救。或者大家可以參考下。治安方面東london確實唔系咁好。試過幾次凌晨3，4點返屋企系路上有人叫住我，我系唔理咩事都即刻逃走。其實提高警覺性既話都唔會有太大問題

各地區鄉音稍異，
不用焦慮，慢慢會適應，大可放心。初期盡量放鬆用簡單字句應對，不用着急，或用清楚字條交流，當地人一般是很SENSlBLE..通情達理。
