    19:47 actually installing SKSE instructions ( I know that all other information he says between 11:04 and 20 minute is very important, just thought i could save some time for lazy users who don't wanna learn)))

      If any of y'all still there
      could someone verify me something?
      Gopher didn't copy paste the src folder from skse
      and since he's using only the data folder with MO,it means that that src folder is not inside the game
      Will the game work correctly without the src or am I missing something?

    Thank you very much for your very detailed mod tutorials. What I enjoy most is how thorough you are at not just teaching how to install specific mods, but teaching the fundamentals of these tools and the installation processes. I've gained a serious understanding of the workings of the Skyrim Mod scene in just a week of watching your various tutorials. I spend roughly 50% of my time playing around and organizing my mods, and the other 50% actually playing the game, haha. Thanks again! Keep up the great work.

    Gopher just wanted to thank you for all your hard work and videos that actually go more in depth on how it works vs how to install. I am slowly learning more about modding and would really like to make some of my own eventually. your videos have started to help me understand some of the basics and how some of it works. would love to see some videos if you haven't already made(haven't done my proper searches yet) on the ABC's of mod making, for my future ventures.

    I'd like to share a small endorsement for Gopher.
    His tutorials are so good, so clear, I followed along the old NMM version of his installation tutorial for SKSE for Mod Organiser (many weeks before he started this new series). That is evidence of a thorough explanation. The ability to take the example and extend it. I've been merrily using SKSE-using mods, and Gopher excellent suggestion of an SKSE plugins 'mod' ever since!

    • @GophersVids
      @GophersVids  10 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      maksphoto78 The SKSE team had a discussion about this once and I believe 'scuzzy' was the first choice and 'sexy' was politely rejected :) But in general it would seem pronouncing the letters is the norm, apart from FOSE which is usually FoeZee or FoeZay.
      F4SE was discussed and Four'Zee seemed popular although I thing FAZE is better :)

    Going deeper in modding and using better tools, IE Mod Organizer 2. No shade on NMM/Vortex but it is not great for big mod loads in my opinion. Anyways, this series has been really helpful to get acquainted. There is a ton of good info despite it being 6 years old. Great job. So many mod instructions have not aged as well.

    Love this series, even though you spend to much time at times going over very basic things like we are idiots. Mostly its when you made your point as best as it can be made but yet you go on and on showing the steps no matter how redundant. But still love what you have done here. I just lose my patience sometimes while you reinstall or activate each and every piece when a simple "you would do this for all" comment would suffice. But i nitpick. Great work. Oh and why do you emphasize the word "Merge" so much? You sound like Stewie Griffin if he were to say merge. I laugh every time. Its like you found a special jewel every time you come across that word.
    Anyhoo keep up the great work. I subbed even.

    Thanks for your great MO guide! The most important questions for me though are how all the tools work with it: Bashed Patch, FNIS, Skyproc Patcher, LOOT, T5E
    Are you planning on covering those?
    Another suggestion while you are about to explain tools for Skyrim: What about a T5E tutorial? Your video on load order broached the subject but maybe a more in depth video on how it works would be good so people can stop worrying and love conflict detection/resolution :)

    Hi Gopher, hi everyone!
    I started watching your tutorials and as you, I love having everything neat and clean installed. So, because of my need of perfection, I wanted everything to work flawlessly but when I created a shortcut from my Mod Organizer to the desktop and double clicked the shortcut, I got this message : " Mod Organizer has crashed. Should a diagnostic file be created? blah blah...". One note - my shortcut was working until I installed SKSE and SkyUI the way you did(Manually I mean).
    P.S. I tried running the game through the MO with SKSE chosen and it's working.
    Also, I did NOT get that second box when I tried to install the SkyUI. I just removed the mod and did that thing with removing fomod from the zip.
    Regards,
    Matko!

    Been holding out going to MO. I only use NMM for mod installations in Skyrim. I also Use Wrye Bash. I have used Wrye since Morrowind/Oblivion days and loved it well. For Oblivion Wrye would merge mods so easily... You could run so many more mods than the limit that way. I still use it to this day for Oblivion. Bain installation was so nice and MO reminds me of Bain so much. You really get a good break down of what your mods are doing. What conflicts there are, Etc. But with MO you are really getting somethin very different. Nothing in the game Data folder. I like that Idea but I can see that could also be issue prone for some mods. Yet I do like The idea of this. I am watching the whole series for this tehn going to decide. So far I like the idea. We will see. These are great vids and Gopher is a great teacher.

    For people using the memory patch within skse. Where should I create my skse.ini folder to activate the patch since my data folder will not have said files within it.

    • @Galloway17
      @Galloway17 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      From the STEP project page on SKSE:
      1. Right-click the SKSE mod in Mod Organizer and select Open in explorer.
      2. Open the SKSE folder or create one if one does not exist.
      3. In the SKSE folder, create skse.ini and paste inside it the following:
      [General]
      ClearInvalidRegistrations=1
      [Memory]
      DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
      ScrapHeapSizeMB=256
      This seemed to work for me!

      Kastellen Will that work if I want to use mods that should be copied inside the SKSE folder that should be in the Data Folder? I intalled SKSE the way Gopher suggested, but now I'm not sure how to install other mods that should be in the Skyrim (rather than in the Data) folder. The mod in question is the Community Uncapper.

    • @Galloway17
      @Galloway17 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flávio Alves I don't remember doing anything special when I installed the Uncapper. When I double-click on the Uncapper mod in Mod Organizer, it shows the INI file as being in SKSE/Plugins, and I can edit it within the the INI Files tab. Alternatively, if I right-click on the mod in Mod Organizer and choose "open in Explorer", I find an "SKSE" folder, within that a "plugins" folder, and within THAT the DLL file and the INI file, and I can edit the file there if I prefer. All seems to work okay for me without much trouble.

    Hey, Gopher! First off, thanks so much for all the work you've done; I speak for plenty when I say, "You're the best." :)
    Sadly, I'm bumping into a bit of an issue with MO and the installation of SKSE and SkyUI. I've completed a re format this week, so I know with certainty that the only mod I have is SkyUI and SKSE is active; I've checked the version number in game. Still, somehow I'm noticing that all of my saves under MO are flagged as "Missing ESP". It's may be worth noting that the saves in question (the only ones I have) are only the first 5-10 minutes into the brand new game. While this hasn't directly caused an issue, I'm concerned it will in the future. Any ideas why this might be? I'm nervous to go on ahead installing any other mods until I can solve what the heck is going on already -_-
    Thanks again, many times over!

  • @krispyford6558
    @krispyford6558 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For SkyUI An alternative way I found is by going into your settings tab then plugins, Scroll down to Fomod Installer:not Fomod installer (external): Set the values for enabled for true and prefer to false. It should allow most mods to detect your other mods...

    Hey Gopher, thanks again for this video and your others concerning MO. I have been messing around with MO recently and really enjoy it and while I believe I have installed Skyrim Redone correctly I was wondering when you would be releasing a video on that mod and others like it. Thank you for this! I always wondered why I see videos on youtube of people with a mod in Mod Organizer named "SKSE Scripts". I mean I knew what its for, but I never knew how do install SKSE in Mod Organizer. But since I already had my SKSE Scripts installed in the Skyrim data directory, I just made the RAR from the scripts folder and deleted the folder from the skyrim data folder, then installed the SKSE Scripts with Mod Organizer. I think they recommend this way to everyone, they should have these instructions on the main SKSE Download page. They should package the the Scripts folder separately so you can easily install it in Mod Organizer after you install the Main files in the main Skyrim Directory. Thank you for this!!
    EDIT: Also, where do I put SKSE Scripts in the Load Order in Mod Organizer? Right now I have it right after the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.

    What I would really like to know is how to install FOMOD based mods for FNV that require the ability to see the other mods visible to get the choices correct. Like Unified Hud Project (a Gopher mod). I haven't been able to find a 'Manual install' button on the FNV fomod plugin. The best advice I've been given is how to install FOMM inside of MO, and install certain mods with FOMM. NOT ideal. I run 220ish mods in Skyrim in MO just fine. Gave up on FNV with MO, went back to NMM. Any advice on how to really do it inside of MO would be greatly appreciated :)

    Gopher I notice you leave .bsa files packed. I there a reason for that? I have read unpacking bsa's is less strain on the game. Thanks for another Skyrim video, keep it up!

    • @GophersVids
      @GophersVids  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tyler Cone The general view on that is that if your CPU is very weak but your disk is fast you may be better unpacking the BSAs. Otherwise it is not worth it, and may even make it worse (although by an amount so small as to be hard to notice). It really depends what bottles necks your game performance.

    • @Canlocu

      Gopher Thank You for the reply. One other Question I have is, I just did a fresh Win7 install and have Skyrim on its own SSD. Would it be best to install MO on that same drive as the game or put it on a 3rd bigger drive for growth and room for Mods. Would this impact my heavy modded game? I also keep my download folder on a 4th drive atm.
      Again, Thank You for your time!

    Quick question about SKSE + MO: a while ago, Gopher, you showed how to add the memory allocation script lines into an SKSE.ini file, which you'd created in the Skyrim data folder when using using Nexus Mod Manager. Seeing as SKSE is installed a little differently with MO, is there any change in how to implement the above fix?

      ***** SSME is no longer needed due to SKSE's memory fix...

      ***** Only if you *do not* use SKSE :)

      KnowHope Here is a tutorial on how to install/create the SKSE.ini for MO:
      th-cam.com/video/AT8fdyzTmiE/w-d-xo.html
      ***** Well... if you use SKSE then you already have the means to implement the memory path. SSME is for those who do not use SKSE, but who doesn't use it these days?
      Using both SSME and SKSE's memory fixes together can also create problems, so It's either one or the other.

    Hey Gopher, quick question about MO. Is there a different way to install ENBs -and/or Sheson's memory patch- with MO that differs from NMM?
    P.S. Thank you so much for all of your informative and awsome tutorial videos. They have been a REALLY big help for me getting my game modded to where I want it!
    -EDIT-
    I was able to get Sheson's memory patch working by following the tutorial videos on the S.T.E.P. website, however I am still having some difficulty with the ENBs.

    Gopher I've been following your instructions for modding for quite some time now. I remember waiting for the next episode of NMM videos. I had 112 mods installed using NMM but started getting really bad memory leaks causing ILS virtually every time I entered/exited a new area. Upon doing more research, learning about the new SKSE using 512mb allocations and such, I came across this series of videos regarding Mod Organizer. I want it. However, I followed your instructions step by step up to this point. I did the SKSE 1.7.1 file management from an absolute clean wiped Skyrim. I.E. All my mods were removed and any subsequent, lingering Skyrim and mod files were removed as well. Then I followed what you did with SkyUI. The manual installation. I even got that little message regarding not having SKSE even though I clearly do. Just as you did, I clicked Install anyhow. Set the proper load order, and I get that error message in game about papyrus. How can this be? I have not altered my .ini files in any way.
    I would really appreciate a better understanding of how this could happen.

      I believe I have fixed the issue. When launching SKSE from Mod Organizer, there's a prompt that mentions running SKSE_Loader.exe with elevation. I simply went to the file and removed "RUN AS ADMIN". The game loads now, with SKSE working, as well as SKYUI. No conflicts whatsoever!

    Regarding SKSE, I am about 150 or mods into modding my game with SKSE being the first mod I installed. Is it too late to resinstall SKSE in the manner described by Gopher? And if so should I delete the scripts folder the SKSE installer created? It does not have any additional scripts added to it other than the original 60 that came with SKSE.
    And love your videos by the way, they are lifesavers!

    Gopher, over the years that I'm learning the mods, you're my most favorite teacher and I've always been listening to you and always being adviced from your videos.
    You explain things just so perfectly. I just have no words.
    Great job and thank you for your lessons :)
    My Data folder in MO has a lot of red lines indicating that the files are also installed by other mod and I only have unofficial patches and DLCs. The red letters showing just conflicts but the red letters are... you know, scary. Do they simply mean that they win/lose conflicts? or is it an error I should be aware of? I don't remember you showing this in depth, that's why I'm asking. Please help me :(

    You didn't tell us, but i guess you reinstalled your skyrim from scratch to have all the skyrim folder clean, am i right? If that was the case, then you also had to deactivate all mods from NMM, am i right? But then, let's just say that i want to use NMM again, is there a way to keep my current setup with NMM or do i need to install everything again? I already downloaded MO and saw that i have Non-MO mods, which i know are form NMM, but i don't want that, because i can't create a empty profile. Is there a way around it? Thanks for the guides Gopher.

      what i did was rename my old steam skyrim folder to something like "old skyrim mods" and then reinstall skyrim to get a fresh install. then you can easily go back to your old folder to play your old setup.

      ***** I believe what Gopher actually did was back up his data folder and "verify integrity of game cache" through steam. But however you installed it, it shouldn't be too hard to back up your old game folder and reinstall.

      Indeed, reinstalling is not a big deal. Problem is, backing up the files. That'd take hours.

    Hey Gopher, I wanted to thank you for you very informative guides its amazing how you describe every tiny bit of what that does and how to fix it etc.
    And I wanted to ask you. There is the triangle in the top right corner of the MO right under the minimalize option and in my MO it says that initializing Python failed and I don't have any idea what that Python does. Is it important anyhow?

    Gopher, first i must thank you for all the Skyrim tutorial videos you have made; they are invaluable for the grannies generation to which i belong.
    But i do have a problem with Mod Organizer's handling of SKSE and SkyUI. I followed your installion instructions step by step. And this is the result:
    >SKSE is installed and working (getSKSEversion confirms that).
    >Yet, when the game launches, i get a message that says SkyUI is not working properly -- Error Code 1.
    >When in-game i look at my inventory, the menu is the SkyUI menu, not vanilla. However, when i click on mod configurations, SkyUi is not there, so i connot configure this mod.
    I am trying to switch from NMM to Mod Organizer, using a clean install of Skyrim.
    The only mods i have added using Mod Organzer are the unofficial patches for Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn, and the unofficial 2K textures patch.
    Any advice would be welcome -- perhaps the uninformed like me should revert to NMM?
    And thank you again for your your work.
